Nosso Lar (2010)
Insiprational
I have been touched very much by this movie. It puts together many different books and philosophy i have been in contact with in the last 20 years in a logic understandable frame that is based on consistent information. If you think reincarnation is absurd and there is no meaning to life you probably are not interested in watching it, and it is OK like that. If on the other hand you feel there is more to life than eating, sleeping, having a job and making a family and that which you learn at school, take the time to watch it...it will make you question and understand many things of your own life. And the quality of it...it is the most expensive movie done in Brazil to date..
What the #$*! Do We (K)now!? (2004)
Rather Good
I think it is a bit slow movie at times but I really enjoyed the message. It tries to connect abstract physics/medical concepts with everyday life. I'd like to report (more or less) a phrase:
" at every step of human development, people thought they new best, and innovations and new theories were taken as heresy".
If you think about Galileo's theories, Darwin..and many more. When they published their new theories they were either forced to deny them to save their lives (Galileo) or they had to face fierce criticism. This is a fact of history.
The certainties of today BE SURE will not be the ones of tomorrow. So I think (also those who wrote before me) we should be a little flexible and open to new ideas.
I am a doctor and I cherish very much the "scientific method" that says: thesis, antithesis, synthesis: in order to produce a stable theory you have to welcome new critics to come in, like that you test the soundness of your theory and eventually you may integrate something of the critic in your theory or even change all of it.
Nowdays, the scientific world is CLOSED to critics and new theories, as in a near-religion of dogmas, which is a sad thing for the development of mankind.
