The Night Stalker (1972)
Great Show!
This was a great series in general and I was hoping that the new show would work but the producers tried to change too many things in it. Like instead of concentrating on Kolshak, they developed a whole ensemble cast to work with and around him. Part of the appeal of the old show was that he was a loner and everyone thought he was crazy. And what's with the pretty boy playing Kolsha? Darren Mcgavin's frumpy, rumpled character was perfect in the role. And the fear that he shows when he was knee deep in danger everyone could understand. Although that danger never was enough to make him stop looking for more answers. Oh well, maybe next try!
The Hitcher (1986)
Probably The Best Movie in Rutger Hauer's Career
This was one of my favorite movies for the year it came out and it is now one of my favorites ever! It's not just scary, suspenseful and bloody but most importantly it's psychologically disturbing. Hauers character is basically a serial killer that wants to stop killing but can't. Therefore he stalks and recruits C. Thomas Howell's character to stop him. Of course the only way to do that is to kill him, which of course Howell doesn't want to do. This is where the mental torture comes in. Hauer basically tries to force Howell to kill him by relentlessly stalking him and implementing him in a murder. Howell was great for this part because of his age and typecasting at the time of basically the young everyman liberal that wouldn't think of hurting someone else. Plus, Hauer was scary as hell in his role! I'm very interested in seeing the 2007 version when it is released. I just hope they don't screw it up.
Dark Fields (2006)
This is in my POS productions group
What is my POS productions group? It stands for Piece Of Sh@t productions. This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my whole life!! You can see the boom mike at times. The whole movie is supposed to be happening at night yet there are scenes where you can see daylight in the background. There are 2 scenes where you can see the shadow of the cameraman on a wall. Also, you never find out what happened to the first teen that was killed. At least show us his body or something! There are at least 4 scenes where the killer could have killed the last 2 girls left alive but he doesn't. He just walks away and disappears!! And the acting?? Can we say elementary school play? Oh I'm sorry, I don't want to insult the elementary schools! And the climactic scene is easily the worst of all time!! I wasted $4.86 to rent this at Blockbuster mainly because on the DVD box there is a quoted from IFQ magazine stating that it is "The most terrifying movie of the last decade". I WILL NEVER TRUST THOSE GUYS AGAIN!!
