Boys Don't Cry (1999)
Brilliant movie; Outstanding performance by Swank
This is a tough, sensitive subject - transgender issues, sexual identity crisis etc. The director has done an excellent job of portraying it very well. The way movie was picturized, it takes us deep into America's conservative heartland. It makes us feel we're there - very well built up story and emotional sequences.
Outstanding performance by all actors. great selection of locations. seems the director did over 5 years of research on this subject and people. I dont know if all the facts are represented properly, since I dont know the true story; Heck, I dont even agree with the concepts, ideas of transgenderism, but this is truly a great movie, which depicts the feelings and events naturally.
Little too long (over 2 hrs). But didnt really feel all that slow.
I would give "Boys Dont Cry" a 9 out of 10.
The Thin Red Line (1998)
slow and dull, makes you sleep
This movie is nothing compared to "saving private ryan". The only reason it is rated so high is because of the hype surrounding it. People are afraid to state the truth, that this is a slow/dull, pathetic movie, with no theme. I watched it for 90 minutes, the theme was not apparent. These people are going to a war, so then, what happens? what is the bottom line of the movie, that you are trying to convey? Avoid this movie, unless you want something to go to sleep in 30 minutes.
Dangerous Waters (1999)
Good Time pass
I saw this movie accidentally on TV; I wasnt excited at first. But it was very well picturized and narrated. I really liked the cinemotography of the raft ride. It felt as though I was rafting; Excellent locations. Interesting twists; some slacks - the villian was so generous and lenient! Overall, it was a good time pass movie.
You've Got Mail (1998)
painful 2 hrs
I could not believe that a movie could be so bland! So slow and absolutely no dramatization, no emotions, no twists or turns, no story development ... They have wasted the talent of 2 great people (hanks, ryan) in making a wonderfully dumb movie.
