Midsomer Murders: King's Crystal (2007)
The Shakespearian element was just a plot device
The murder part of the programme was not a "second theme that is inartfully folded in" but an intrinsic part of the whole programme.
The Shakespearian element was just a plot device which helped the detective figure out how the murders took place.
It seems that you watched a show called Midsomer Murders thinking the murder part of it was somehow coincidental.
The show held my interest and whilst not a classic was certainly well crafted and acted.
Perhaps if you had read your TV guide a bit more carefully you would have been able to find viewing more to your liking.
Fear of Fanny (2006)
How on earth can anyone call this dull?!
This was a great show about a deeply insecure woman with intense emotional problems. The show catalogued a lifetime of pretence and despair and the pain she inflicted on others most notably her daughter in law.
I wasn't old enough to see her shows the first time but I remember the infamous blue boiled eggs and the green mashed potatoes as well as other equally hideous food.
Her treatment of the dying Johnny when she couldn't even bring herself to visit him in hospital seemed especially harsh but Fanny suffered from her own demons which seemed to torment her constantly.
The Eurovision Song Contest (1991)
Bad staging great songs
The presentation was chaotic, the stage strange and the organisation lacking to say the least but the songs were first rate this year and were not poor.
Toto set new lows in presentation though!
The real winner for me was the French entry by Amina, it was such a great song and deserved to win. The RAI orchestra ruined the Greek entry which was outstanding - how on earth could that have happened in a professional orchestra? The EBU scrutineers Frank Naef was getting visibly annoyed throughout the voting which was chaos itself. Terry Wogan was at the height of his powers and was excellent.
