Sling Blade (1996)
Mr. Thornton your GOLD medal is ready.
3 June 2001
To begin with Billy Bob Thornton writes, directs and stars in Sling Blade. He does each perfectly, especially directing, in such a visually appetizing manner, that cannot fail to impress.

The story beautifully meanders through issues of emotions, family life, friendship, the world itself and yet a dark under tone rests uneasily underneath, giving subliminal thrills and maybe even 'suspense'. Somehow, this missed hit slipped through the net of releases and went on to be the biggest sleeper hit of 96. However if you are a fan of only Die Hard, Top Gun and Adam Sandler type films - STAY AWAY. But, if you liked things like Rain Man, Oh Brother Where Art Thou? and maybe even A Simple Plan, WATCH, ENJOY and give Billy Bob the credit he was due.

Shooting Fish (1997)
Fun, fast, modern, and in a nutshell; cool
30 August 2000
First of all, the film begins with the two main characters, Jez (a confused "geek") and Dylan (a money mad, suave businessman) as children. This gives you an idea of just exactly what they are really like within two minutes of film. As the film progresses, clever scams and tricks ease their way into the comic running of the film.

Loaded with humor and 'English wit' this could possibly be one of the finest light hearted English films for many years.
