Ghosts of Mars (2001)
Poor second class;a let down!
The 'combat scenes in this movie are something to behold. The actresses in the film look like they are scared of breaking a nail. The male leads don't really look the part. All in all very poor.
Band of Brothers (2001)
Great Series
Having now completed watching the excellent HBO series 'Band of Brothers' I feel that it was possibly one of the best efforts to come out of America. With its fine pedigree of real life heroes input, splendid Acting, Directing and large budget it really made the grade. Having also read the Stephen Ambrose book I could really relate to the different episodes.
One minor quibble,is that considering there was an English actor playing one of the main roles(a fine portrayal by Damien Lewis)how come the actors who played the few 'Brits' all sounded like they graduated from the Mary Poppins/Dick Van Dyke school of English. We didn't speak like that then and we don't speak like that now....
To reiterate a fine series telling the tale of just a small part of the great American War effort........Well done to all
Thank you all you real American Band of Brothers
Sharpe: Sharpe's Justice (1997)
Enjoyable episode enhanced by film location.
This episode although perhaps not the usual swashbuckle, has an added interest for me,as much of the filming took place in my home village of Helmshore. The riot scene was filmed in and around the Helmshore Textile Museum, with the crew setting up on the adjacent carpark, much to the interest of the staff of the nearby Airtours Travel offices.Filming took place for about a week in the month of November. Anyone wishing to see the location can find it on the following website.http://members.xoom.com/zoomer101/HELMSHORE_BULL
