Could be good, but isn't
13 July 2000
I have the Vietnamese version, so it's really poorly dubbed, but the subtitles are there. But the plot is so tedious that I didn't really care during the last 30 minutes. There's a fight between Chu Man Cheuk and Ken Lo that's decent, yet wire assisted, but besides that there's nothing really satisfying. Ken Lo plays almost no role and I bet had he had more time it could have been worthwhile.

One of the 2 best Jackie films out

With Project A, this one stands as the best Chan flick out I think. Awesome acting, cinematography, variety, characters, and choreography and even some REAL STYLES!! Awesome, everyone should worship the 8 drunken gods, I think I'll start today.

Although goofy, DM3 had excellent fight choreography

When I read reviews of this movie, I read about the multiple fight scenes that were the only high points in the movie. Well, I found that statement to be a fallacy, because there aren't multiple fight scenes, relatively speaking that is. There are around 3 to note, but the last one is monumental. That gave the movie a 7 for me, otherwise I'd give it a 2 for the Drunken technique in the middle, but that's it. However, at the end, there is a good 15 or so minutes of fighting that I thoroughly enjoyed. Many different ways of fighting, and it was in such a great scene too. Andy Lau and Gordon Liu fight each other in 2 confession booths as well, which was beyond the limits of regular wu shu and into a different but welcome realm. I also enjoyed the new Lau Kar Leung in this, although I didn't like him as much as I did in DM2. And Jackie Chan isn't in this one. Actually Leung went off during the DM2 shooting due to directing arguments with Chan, and he made this. It has a quack story, so don't bother paying attention I think. Has to do with some cult and a princess, and lame music too at times. But still a good rental or if you're into fights, go ahead and make a purchase.

One of those perfect movies

This is the absolute best of the brothers. It showcases the best of their talent, and there is no stop to the fun in this movie. Pirates, ships, swashbuckling, bike chases, fights, more fights, multiple person fights, explosives. When I rented the rendition of this, I was SO INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED. The dubbing made me think twice about miracles, if you know what I mean. And they added a score that couldn't have been better. I have ZERO COMPLAINTS!! PROJECT A SHOULD BE RELEASED IN THEATRES!!
