The Babymaker: The Dr. Cecil Jacobson Story (1994)
Very "Made For Television"!
Not a very good "thriller" or "drama" but there is a strong and twisted storyline present. Very typical of "made for television" movies of this nature. Semi-strong performance from Melissa Gilbert leaves you wanting more. Not highly recommended from this viewer. Blah!
Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977)
Real, Real, Real. . . not Hollywood!
This is one of Diane Keaton's BEST roles and she plays it with courage. A story so "real" it's breathtaking. NOT for people who like a "typical Hollywood ending"; it's NOT a happy one! The story of a twenty-something single girl, living in "not so friendly" mid 1970's America. Encounters with drugs, hustlers, boyfriends, love, her Father's disturbed guidance with Irish Catholic borders, her flaky superstar sister, all the while trying to hold the balance of a double life as a elementary school teacher by day, and disco/coke queen by night. A very dark look at single, city life in 1975-76.
