El barón del terror (1962)
Another great Horror Classic from Mexico
A man is burn by some people and swears to kill all their descendants. No I'm not talking about "Nigthmare on Elm Street" but the 1962 Mexican movie "Brainiac". In 1661, Lord Vitelius, played by the very prolific Mexican actor, Abel Salazar, is condemn by the inquisitors to be burn at the stake, where he curses them and promise to come back in the future to kill all their descendants.
Two hundred years later he comes back to fulfill his promise. This classic has all the elements of a fun campy horror movie. Lord Vitelius transforms himself in a very funny looking monster with a fork-tongue and sucks the brains of the people dry. He makes men freeze and women horny with "The look", he stares at them and the magic works itself. Two policemen are after his lead, and they have the most funny lines of the film, specially the assistant.
Poor Lord Vitelius falls in love with one of the descendants, that for his bad luck is with the incarnation of the only man who help him back in 1661. Can he fulfill his promise? Will love beat this unbeatable monster? Will women be ever capable of not falling to "The Look"? You will have to watch this great classic movie to find the answers, it will probably not scare you, but you will laugh nonstop.

Not a horror movie, a very good movie
I got the DVD for the Uninvited not knowing what to expect, Asian Horror movies are usually very different one from another. There are movies that go heavy on the blood and others than go heavy on the Drama; The Uninvited falls in the latter, just like other movies like Dark Water or Two Sisters. The movie is about a man named Jung-won who is an Interior designer. One day he falls asleep in the subway and he must hurry out before the doors close, but outside he notices that the two kids are still on the train, and he does nothing. The next day he hears on the radio that the 2 children were dead and suddenly he starts seen the kids sitting at his dinner table. He ignores what is happening to him, probably thinking is the shock of watching the children dead in the train until the day he meets a woman named Yun who suffers from narcolepsy, so he takes her to his home when she loses conscious in his car, and just when she is leaving she tell him to put his kids in bed, so now Jung-won is not the only one seeing the dead kids. From there Yun helps Jung-won find the gruesome secrets buried in his past, but he is not the only one with a dark past. The movie has some very shocking scenes that play very well. Both lead actors, Shin-yang Park and Ji-hyun Jun (most known for her part in the romantic comedy (My Sassy Girl") did a fantastic job playing these troubled characters. The cinematography is superb, there were some scenes were I was very impressed. The US DVD from Panik House is great, from the cover to the extras. There are 2 Audio Commentaries, one in English, which is very informative about the Korean culture and Cinema and another one in Spanish. It has a Making Off, Interviews with the lead Actors, a story boards/scenes comparisons, and other need stuff like a condensed version of the movie. The DVD also comes with a sticker of the cover. I really recommend this movie to everyone, is not a simple horror movie but a complex drama with some very shocking moments.
Date Movie (2006)
Make yourself a favor and run away from this one!
I heard bad things about this movie but it wouldn't have been the first time I like a movie that was getting bad reviews, but oh boy were they right. This movie is horrible, not funny at all. I didn't like any of the Scary Movies, haven't seen the last one and I'm not planning to, so when I saw they were promoting this movie as been brought by 2 of the masterminds behind the Scary Movies I wasn't expecting much, but still I gave it a chance, and now I hate myself for it. Where there any writers involve in this? They just throw parts of other movies randomly and they didn't even try to male it funny. I really can't explain what's happening lately with all these Teen Comedies coming out from Hollywood, hardly any of them are worth watching. Last week I watch the Korean teen comedy "Sex is Zero" for the second time and it was hilarious, why can't they make a movie like this one? If you are planning on watching "Date Movie", won't, save your money or better yet, get "Sex is Zero" and have a great time.
Saek-jeuk-shi-gong (2002)
The way sex comedies should be.
I watched Sex is Zero again last night and remember how good it was, with all the awful comedies coming out of Hollywood right now, this is a breath of fresh air. I remember the first thing I heard from this movie was that it was the Korea's American Pie, but for my taste Sex is Zero is much better. You get all gags a sex comedy should have plus more. If you are a fan of Asian Cinema you know they like to throw dramatic twists even in comedies and Sex is Zero is not the exception. For example, let's say the do an Action comedy in Hong Kong like Rush Hour, near the end one of the 2 main characters is going to die, that throws a punch to the viewer out of nowhere, some people hate that and others like me love it, enough of Hollywood endings. Not that I'm saying anybody dies in this movie, this one is a Sex Comedy, not and Action movie. Ha Ji Won plays the lead female character, she is a sweetheart, before watching this I saw her in a Horror movie called Nightmare, she is my favorite Korean actress, last movie I saw her in is Duelist, you should look for that movie too, is one of the best pieces of cinematography I've ever seen. I'm Chang Jung plays the lead male character and he does a great job, the guy is really funny and also shows he can act when he has to. I got both the Korean DVD and the US DVD, both are great, but I got the US DVD because the extra material comes also with subtitles, one thing that the Korean release doesn't have, plus it also has a very entertaining commentary track by mrskin, he had a lot to comment since they didn't went shy on the nudity factor. Hope they keep releasing Korean movies with this quality in the US. So don't wait until Sex is Zero is remake by some money hungry studio, do yourself a favor and watch it now, you wont be disappointed.
Real, la película (2005)
Great Movie and bizz-2 comment
bizz-2, I'm pretty sure you haven't seen the movie, and I'm absolutely sure you don't know anything about what happen when Franco was ruling Spain. In the 40's and 50's, the time when Fanco power was stronger, the team who won more Leagues in Spain was Barcelona!!! Real Madrid has won more since Franco died, the only place where they could compete without Franco interfering was in Europe competitions and there Real Madrid was the best. Since Real Madrid has been the strongest team in Spain and Europe since then, there are other team sympathizers making stories like yours. About the movie, is about 5 stories based on real life stories, and also they follow the team showing things you don't usually see. Is a very emotional movie, with great cinematography and a superb music score, I really recommend it to all Soccer Fans.
Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)
Oh My GOD!!!!!!!
There's not a lot to comment here, just that the movie if you can call it that, it's awful, it's taped with a camcorder, the plot (wait... it doesn't have any!!!), just stay away from this one!!! Don't waste your money, I paid 1 dollar for it and it was 1 dollar too much!!!!
Legion of the Dead (2001)
Stay AWAY!!!!!!!!
This is not a movie!! Movies need plots and good acting, at least decent acting, there's nothing from that here, just two stupid caracters killing around and another two stupid characters running from evil, they wanted to do some kind of From Dusk Till Dawn but they didn't!!! Low Budget is not an excuse for a lame script!!!
