Personally, I liked the second one better. Now hear me out. For a horror movie that isn't taking itself seriously, see the second one. It follows in the style of the Evil Dead movies. Such funny events as punching vampires in the face and men bouncing back off electrical wires. ***

Desperado (1995)
I don't know
12 April 2000
I don't know what people have against Quentin Tarantino's acting. Do some people just not like him or what. I thought he was awesome in his scene in this movie. Oh yeah, this was a real good movie by the way. Kind of a new age western. *****

Pulp Fiction (1994)
Big
12 April 2000
This is a big movie. Right when 'Miserlou' starts playing, it lays down what this movie has to live up to. And the film does live up to it. Big dialogue, big characters, big plot. Some of the best film making I have ever seen in my life. Perfect score. *****

Wacky
12 April 2000
This movie brings craziness to a whole new level. An all out art film. Not exactly the best movie I've ever seen, but not the worst either. All of Quentin Tarantino's other works were so much better than this one, although his original script was great. ****

True Romance (1993)
Romance still exists
12 April 2000
In Quentin Tarantino's first screenplay, we see that his talent has been surviving since square one. Christian Slater has always been a favorite of mine, and in this movie he really comes out to shine. Although I have seen Patricia Arquette do better, as in LOST HIGHWAY. ****

Kick ass
12 April 2000
What a pleasant surprise. I don't know how many people saw this movie after PULP FICTION, but together with this and his other works it is east to see what a genius he is. This movie is one of the most realistic portrayals of criminal life I have ever seen. I love the behind the camera feel of it, how we're seeing criminals for the first time out of a strict crime setting. My score: perfect. *****

Braindead (1992)
One of my favorites
12 April 2000
Brilliant film. If you need to, look past the zombie exploitation and see a brilliantly directed film by a director who should definately make the lord of the rings movies. Very well directed, and even better than Jackson's BAD TASTE. *****

Brings up the question
12 April 2000
Brings up the question; what the hell is it with John Waters and the color pink? In his movies there's pink everywhere! Not that there's anything wrong with that. Anyway, this and PECKER are my two favorite John Waters' movies, but I'd recommend seeing them all. By the way, they're of two genres: Gross and Campy. *****

After TAXI DRIVER
12 April 2000
After TAXI DRIVER, my favorite movie. I love how this movie plays on the theme of loyalty carried through from childhood. Brilliant acting by both Woods and De Niro, and the child actors are the best I have ever seen, their acting almost a match for Robert De Niro. See either version, the two hour or four hour whatever. ****

Better than the original
12 April 2000
I saw the Trinity movies in order and yes, the second one is better. It is the great spaghetti western, complete with speeded up gunplay. There are a lot of boring westerns out there, but believe me, this one is definitely worth it's salt. *****

Lolita (1962)
The best one
12 April 2000
In my opinion, this is the best of all of Stanley Kubrick's works. When you're watching it, you don't even notice the fact that you're watching a black and white movie. The way it is filmed is almost Hitchcockian. It is such a very wonderful movie. *****

Con Air (1997)
Great mainstream movie
11 April 2000
I'm not one to criticize the mainstream. Hollywood comes out with at least ten good mainstream movies a year. CON AIR is an example of one. It's clever, it has a good solid cast such as Steve Buscemi and Ving Rhames, and the characters are well built. This film is a great character study. *****

DEFINATELY better than the sequel
11 April 2000
Please try to see this classic before the shoddy sequel please. This one goes beyond gross, this is a very clever comedy. In my opinion the best Mike Meyers film also. I couldn't believe how funny it was when I first heard 'Random Task', it must have sneaked by some people. Anyway, I give it five stars. *****

Does anyone NOT like this movie?
11 April 2000
Everyone MUST like this movie, I'm sure of it. I found out about this show in grade six, my parents wouldn't let me watch PULP FICTION, so I started watching the episode with Santa versus the martians. Hilarious! After that I saw the movie, what can I say, it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Altough I did like Mike better than Joel. *****

Hackers (1995)
Power
11 April 2000
The stuff going on in the background of this movie is more exciting than the foreground in most movies. Brilliant dialogue and accent masking. An excellent example of a hip movie that I like. Rating: one of my favorites. *****

Four Rooms (1995)
It's always disheartening.....
11 April 2000
It's always disheartening when film critics coldly snub films upon release for what they are, or when film snobs dismiss it as the next thing. With three good quarters, or rooms, how could you go wrong? Granted, the first room wasn't funny, but it had pointless nudity. The second room is hilarious, Tim Roth squawking and trying to weasel his way out of situations with such a scary gangster. Third room being the funniest and then the last room. What can I say? I'm glad Quentin Tarantino learned self-respect from Howard Hawks, he's definately worth his salt as an actor. *****

Brings up
11 April 2000
Brings up the question, if you lived in a world without rules, would you want to be like Hannibal Lecter? I've thought about it a lot. One of the many frightening thoughts conjured after this marvelous work of art. One of the only movies to truly deserve Best Picture (it won best picture right?). Outstanding. *****

Seamless excellence

An undisputed classic, and beats out HACKERS in it's particular category. Still remains true to the real life hacker community. I will always remember the scene with the pop tab, my favorite scene. Brilliant story. *****

Great
10 April 2000
The beautiful, aesthetic piece of work by veteran director David Lynch. Starring the brilliant Richard Farnsworth as Alvin Straight, giving us the most touching performance since MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. Alvin is travelling through small towns, and David Lynch shows us the simpleness of such towns. David Lynch making this film is breaking out of shock and showing us what a worthwhile director he is. *****

Great
10 April 2000
The best performance I have ever seen in my life, done by Edward Norton. His acting is breathtakingly acute, showing us he is the Robert De Niro of his generation. Brilliant, Mr. Norton. And what an amazing movie. I liked this movie more than FIGHT CLUB. For an excellent performance, and great movie about misplaced rage, see AMERICAN HISTORY X. *****

Pecker (1998)
My favorite movie of 1998
11 February 2000
This movie was not only excellent but served as a landmark of gay cinema. One of the things that really makes this movie is the superb acting. John Waters has gone up and beyond and has shown us the great director behind the filth, much like when someone like David Lynch stops out Lynching himself and makes a cinematic, beautiful and aesthetic piece of film. *****

Mad Excellent, Mad Excellent

I love this movie it is my second favourite comedy movie of all time. This movie is definitely not for film snobs who would probably deny the brilliance of this film even though it follows in the comedic direction of the pink panther films. Please please see it! *****

Taxi Driver (1976)
My favourite movie of all time

This harrowing tale of urban alienation earns the spot as number one on my list. Here is a movie that just works so well. Also, one of the most violent endings in recent movie history. This was a movie that had to be made. *****
