A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)
Not an Xmas Groundhog Day
This movie has three things going for it. The leads, specifically the two that can act. The two whose acting seems like punishment to the viewer almost cancel them out completely. Fun Fact, that couple is married IRL which does not help explain their complete lack of chemistry. They also wrote the thing, so literally no excuse. They can't blame the bad dialogue, or the plot, or each other! Though the dude is good when he's not straining to be "adorable"
The second thing it has is the title, even after seeing it and disliking it, I still love that title.
I guess there is no third. It's a shame, there was potential in the plot, but that goes no where.
Bodo - Eine ganz normale Familie (1989)
This is a great movie
I first saw this movie when I was 11, in 1993. It was on video in the local grocery store. I had a copy of it for awhile, but lost it somewhere along the way. Then I couldn't find another copy for the longest time. It's a great movie, 10 years almost and I still remembered it. Finally I found another copy on-line. Watch this movie. It's about a boy, Bodo, who's constantly picked on by a group of bullies, and to complicate the fact he has a crush on the lead bullies girlfriend, Nova. Not thinking he could ever get her, he about gives up. He clones himself and the clone is stronger, faster and smarter, and also talks a lot. The clone is able to defend itself and impress Bodo, but does she love Bodo, or Bodo 2? Watch this movie, it rules.
Superstar (1999)
I was not Disapointed...
But I must admit I wasn't disapointed because I didn't expect much. Personally, I never much liked this SNL skit, but I got dragged to it. I didn't love it, but I must say it was at least funny. There were laughs at least every 10 minutes, sometimes every 5, which with this kind of movie based on a five minute skit anyway, that's pretty good and all you should expect. There won't be any oscars handed out, but watch Tom Green in a small part being himself.
Popular (1999)
This isn't Dawson's Creek
This is a show of cliches. Everything is here, the evil popular group, the commendable non-popular group. The fat girl who wants to be a cheerleader, the girl who won't cut the science class frog. The strengh in this show is the twists it adds to each cliche. The fat girl is actually the best cheerleader around, the quarterback wants to be in the musical, but still play football. The biggest muscle in this show is the acting. All of these kids convey emotions with their faces and not over wording as per Dawson's. Watch this show.
Roswell (1999)
X-files meets Dawson's Creek
The story revolves around three aliens...Max, Michael and Isabel. Left on earth after thier mothership crashed in the first half of the century they were eventually "born" only 16 years ago. Max and Isabel were found on the road and adopted as brother and sister, while Michael is living in a foster family. The three have succesfully kept their past a secret until Max, seeing the girl of his dreams fatally shot uses his powers to save her. She covers it up, but the local sheriff suspects him. This show combines alot of elements into one watchable show. With X-Files creativity waning, Dawson with out Kevin Williamson and Buffy in college, it's time for a good combination of all with a stellar cast, great dialogue and interesting plot lines. Watch this show.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Buffy is Great
Buffy is a show like no other. It takes the worst elements of high school and puts a spin on them. Not only does she have to keep up her grades, she also has to make sure the world doesn't end on a weekly basis. Buffy alone is good, but add in her loyal scooby gang and there you have a show. It consistantly makes me laugh, as well as making me care about the characters. Many articles focus on the strong female relationships in this movie and they are great, but I'll never stop believing that the true constant in each show is Xander's snarky quips making me laugh and Oz's subtelty making me think. Watch this show.
