Frank and Ollie (1995)
The Men that made Disney
This was the documentary on Oliver Johnston and Franklin Thomas, the two men responsible for what Walt Disney is remembered today- Character Animation. In this film we find out how these two men became friends and how through that friendship raised character animation to the standard it is done today in the movies.
The good-The documentary goes through the duo's history. It shows some of the classical figure drawings as well as rough pencil drawings of famous Disney characters-Bambi and Pinnocchio included.
The bad-John Culhane, what a bloated, pompous asshole. I love the work that Frank ad Ollie did in the Disney movies but the way this guys interpreted it was almost to a Godlike degree. I cant stand this guy on film. Supposedly Milt Kahl, one of Disneys best animators, designed the character of Mr.snoops in The Rescuers with this windbag in mind.
Rent this film to se who is actually responsible for Uncle Walt's fame-and I don't mean Mickey Mouse. Then afterwards, read The Illusion of Life. The quintissential book on Disney Animation written by the same to men who the documentary is based on.
Warriors of Virtue (1997)
A Riot!
This movie was a riot! A laugh riot at that cause it totally sucked. The movie tried to capitalize on the animals-turned-human-turned-kung fu-masters-turned-heroes trend that was started in 1990 by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The animals that were chosen were kangaroos. Kangaroos do not make interesting characters in life and least in the movie. The martial Arts were o.k. but the rest of the movie was bad. so bad that I was asked to quiet down at the theater I went to see because I laughed out hysterically when I saw it. I'm telling you, not even Monty Python made me laugh as hard as the blokes that made this flick. It is awful. From one to ten, I rate it a ten-ten being the worst.
Boogie Nights (1997)
Go Against Your Grain, And You Will Fail
Strip away the fact that this movie uses the rise and fall of a pornstar and what one is left with is one important message-Go with your God given talent and do with it as you will and if you abuse that talent: pay the consequences. Eddie Adams(Mark Wahlberg) has one belief he holds to heart:
"Everyone has one special thing."
His special thing is his stamina for copulation accredited to his thirteen inch member. When he uses these two talents correctly, he gets fame, money, power and the women. But when he mistreats his God-given gift by destroying his body doing coke, he ends up on the streets showing his member to perverts who could have a looksie for a five or an ejaculation for a ten.
mark Wahlberg's character is not the only one in "Boogie Nights" to go through this revelation. His entourage goes through the same type of turmoils he himself goes through.
So when watching this movie, which many people lamented as a piece of unredeeming filth, remember its main message: Do well with the talents that God gave you and you will go far.

EPCOT Center: The Opening Celebration (1982)
The Future is NOT foreseeable!
I saw this special on the Disney Channel around 1999. I payed the most attention to the scene where Danny Kaye talked to a seven year old Drew Barrymore. It was sad how Kaye told her that in the future ,she would most likely be going to high school in space. Its sad, since we don't have a workable space station and also, Ms.Barrymore had problems in her teenage years which did not let her graduate from high school.
Alex Haley talking about the future Africa pavilion was also sad. Some people have mentioned Animal Kingdom but even then Animal Kingdom is not solely African related.
After seeing this special I have come to one conclusion, the future is NOT foreseeable!
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Disney Film is not KIDDIE FARE
Since Disney's first feature length film,Snow White, Disney felt that the animated film was not for children not even his own. It is a known fact that Disney's daughter,Diane Disney Miller, cried hysterically when she first caught a glimpse of the Evil witch in the studio's first screening for its employees. Little Diane cried uncontrollably but instead of Walt turning off the film and taking care of his daughter, he asked a Disney employee to take the girl outside so his employees could see the end of the film. So what did we get? A film that is more for adults than for children Thus proving that animated films are really for adults than children.
I ask myself why then is Disney's current film is just kiddie fare.
The Great Muppet Caper (1981)
One scene is worth the whole picture
There is one scene in this movie that is a masterpiece of comedy. It is the scene where we see both the Charles Grodin gang and the Muppets, getting ready to go to the museum. The Grodin Gang wants to steal the great Baseball Diamond and The Muppets want to stop them from doing so .While the Grodin Gang reads off its checklist to see if the tools they need for their heist was appropriated so do The Muppets. While the Grodin Gang is well prepared,The Muppets are trying their best to keep up with the bad guys. An un-exact sampling follows-
Grodin Gang-"Night vision binoculars....check.One hundred foot long rope...check."
The Muppets-"Flashlight....I think we got one in the bus".
Just thinking about this scene makes me jump up and laugh!
Zazel: Philip Mond's Scent of Love (1997)
Sweet Merciful...A Wet Dream shot on Film
Zazel is the first adult feature since Night Trips 1 and 2(1990) to make an adult film enjoyable for both men and women. The men will enjoy the beautiful entertainment magazine models. This film includes Penthouse pets Sasha Vinni,Gina Lamarca and Lene Hefner. For women, it has exotic locales and costumes. The first scene opens with Sasha Vinni, covered in blue paint, performing an exotic dance for another woman near a waterfall. In another scene, we have Ms.Vinni prancing around in all her glory with tiger stripes circumferencing her body(Mr.Mond you sure do know how to paint a woman pretty). In the closing scene of the film, we have a gorgeous amazonian She-Devil decked out in red latex-horns and whip included. If you are a single male -watch this film! And if you are not-watch it with your woman. Believe me,this is one film that both men and women will find highly erotic!
