Almost Famous (2000)
Wonderfuly captured piece of time that breaks the age barrier and pulls all generations in
As I exited the movie theater after viewing Cameron Crows latest adventure, I was struggling with what to say to my date. As I didnt want to just sit there and say nothing, I was forced to due to so many feelings and thoughts about Almost Famous. Luckily, she felt the same way and so for a few moments we just sat there, staring off into the screen, wishing, wanting, and feeling for that movie. It was so nicely done. From the acting, brilliantly handled, to the directing, never camrons problem, down to the sets, costumes, audio, and other wonderfully placed visuals. Not only was the movie well thought out, but it became one of those rare films in which everyone, boy girl, man woman, could feel for at least one person, part, event. I would reccomend anyone I know to see this movie. It was a chance to take yourself away from your own problems and let you watch someone elses moving you all the way through. ****/****
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
Common people...
I have read all the other comments and would just like to say, that you people shouldnt be commenting if you can give a movie like this, a passing grade. This is a horrible movie in all but 2 aspects. First, the bad parts. Ok, you shouldnt even make a movie with a bad script. This, was a bad script. Every other line was. "What the hell is that ?" People would do things that they would never do in real life. No one would be as stupid as these people in the movie. The plot is almost as bad. In the begginning you think, ok this could be a CLUE like movie, but no. The plot never goes anywhere. The writers must have been debating wether or not to make it really haunted until the very end when they said screw it and wrote one of the dumbest endings ever. It was just so unbelivable, that everyone in the audiance started laughing about 2/3 into it because it was just a pathetically funny movie. But wait, it wasnt supposed to be. I'll give credit to two people, the set designer, and Jeffrey Combs. What sets there were, were really good. However, there were way to few and I think, that in a house this big, there would be more than 5 rooms. Jeffrey Combs preformance was excellent, but ofcourse, we cant have him outshinning any bigger stars, so we see him as little as possible. What a shame. Hes all its got going.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
The Way a movie should be shown...
I love interesting movies and frankly I was getting bored with the stuff that has been coming out lately, but my faith was restored when I saw guy richies "lock stock..". The art of creative and thought provoking moviemaking hadnt died, at least not in britain. People have been saying that it cops Tarintino and I just wanna say that to me this is what tarintino is trying to accomplish, yet he never came close. This is far better in the style of the film then that of tarintino, although Res. Dogs is probably a better movie, "Lock Stock..." pulls off everything so beautifully that the end result will leave you feeling really good about porn kings, drug smugglers, and thieves. I loved this movie in every way but especially with the character development. Grade A stuff here.
