Random Hearts (1999)

A slow but good drama movie.

This is a drama movie. As so many other drama movies it is about love. Random Hearts deals with unfaithfulness and being obsessed about knowing how the love of your life could be cheating on you. If you like slow drama movies this is the one for you. Christine Scott Thomas is acting very good and Harrison Ford is fairly good although he looks as a stone sometimes. It is a movie worth seeing.

Dramatic problems which are hard to believe.

This is the sixth movie of seven. The director has the intention to make movies of the seven deadly sins, but he will not tell which sin each movie is about. This movies video realees is worth waiting for since it is not a very good movie but okey to see anyway. Compared to the other five movies this is the fourth best I think. The things I do not like about it is that Hobart (the director) always let his characters experience very dramatic problems in their lives. After some movies I think that the characters have had their rough time and will not have another mayor breakdown in their lives. It is unlikely to have another breakdown after a while and yet they have and than the movies loose a lot. It's an okey drama movie preferably watched on TV.

Blast from the Past (1999)

A little bit amusing and a big bit time killer.

This is a childish movie. Nevertheless it is very amusing at some points. If I compare it with American Pie I must say that the humor in Blast from the past is more friendly. More as if you laugh with the people instead of at them. The movie has no deeper meaning as so many other movies in this genre. If you want to lay back in the chair and just get amused for one and a half hour rent this movie. It is okidoki but not fantastic.

The Last Days of Disco (1998)

Lovely strange dialog.

This movies best part is the dialog. They talk about strange subjects and never seem to listen to each other. I like that. The movie is about the disco era, how it started and how it ended. Since I was to young to take part in it I liked to see a little bit of what it was like. If I where to choose between "54" and this movie I would rather see this one.

Tsatsiki, Mum and the Policeman (1999)

A joyful and warm movie.

This is a wonderful movie about relations between a mother, her son and the mothers boyfriends. The movie also deals with childrens questions about who their parents are. Tsatsiki has never met his father because Tsatsikis mother got pregnant during a vacation week in Greece and never went back to tell the father that she carried his son.

The relations are seen trough Tsatsikis, an eleven year old boy, eyes. And he is very charming, but I do not think that he is representative for children of his age. The actors are good and it gives you a joyful feeling after you have seen it. If you like drama movies involving young actors this is the movie for you.

The Winslow Boy (1999)

Fairly good English costume drama.

This is a typical English costume drama movie. Sometimes I do like drama movies and sometimes I prefer action movies. This movie should only be seen by people who really wants to see a drama movie. It is fairly good. The things I like the most is the wonderful British English, the costumes and the portrait of the father.

O orgasmos tis ageladas (1996)

Two girls go looking for love.

This is a youth movie. The subject is as usual about finding love and how hard it is to find this true love. We follow two girls aged 17 during a week or two. The girls play rather well but the adult characters are some sort of caricatures of adults and that makes the movie a little bit not so interesting to see. Another detail that bothered me was all the "bad style", horrible clothes for example. The movie has some freshness of youth and if you like movies about young peoples looking for love - see it. It is not a must see movie but a video rental is quite appropriate.

The 13th Warrior (1999)

A mediocre adventure movie.

This is a rather mediocre movie. It is best compared with an old adventurous movie staring Errol Flynn, but with a lot more blood. If you like adventure movies and think that The Mummy was one of the best movies during 1999. Than you would probably like this movie, although it is not as good as The Mummy. All of you who do not think that The Mummy is the best movie 1999. Do avoid this movie, please.

The Matrix (1999)

A slowly accelerating movie that will blast you into a state of euphoria.

This is the best Sci-fi/action movie I've ever seen. For the first it has a lot of special effects that are exciting to watch. The second thing I think of is the story. Sometimes it seems to be week but after a moment of thinking it may not. Interesting and intriguing plot! A third thing is the shooting of the movie. Usual frontal pictures are mixed with pictures from above and below and all together with the special effects stimulates the brain in a pleasant way. If you like Sci-fi and action you have to see this movie.

The Apostle (1997)

A wonderful movie about belief, disbelief and finding yourself.

This movie is wonderful because it deals with strong feelings about love, trust and finding yourself. I strongly recommend you to see this movie if you like drama movies, and if you are a Christian it will have an even larger dimension. Although the movie is sad sometimes you will probably be glad afterwards.

The Celebration (1998)

A movie you must see!

In my opinion this is the best Dogma movie so far(out of 3). It has an interesting and difficult subject in the movie. The acting is good and the movie will probably give you feelings that go beyond the theatre doors. The only weak point in the movie is that the picture is sometimes diffuse and darker than it should be. So if you like drama movies rent this one. If action is your only favourite than you should avoid this movie.
