Eagle in a Cage (1965 TV Movie)
5/10
This is the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame TV production, not the 1972 movie version
6 September 2017
This isn't the first time that the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame TV production of "Eagle in a Cage" was confused with the 1972 movie of the same name. The DVD referred to in the review above is the 1972 film, not the Hallmark TV version with Pamela Franklin. In the Hallmark version, the leads Trevor Howard and Pamela Franklin are reunited. Just three years earlier they were both in the 1962 movie "The Lion."

Yep, we remember
11 May 2004
Yes, Craig, we remember it. Here it is over 25 years later and there are people who still remember. It turns out that most people that I've come across were closet fans of the show. They were devoted to the show and were surprised (and thrilled) whenever it leaked out that a friend down the street was as obsessed about the show as they were.

I've always felt one of the problems the show had though was they were on the one hand trying to appeal to a certain age group (age 8-15 or so) but then on the other hand they stuck those cartoons into the show (for little kids). We wanted to see more of the Mice! Plus Disney didn't give the Mice their fan mail until after the show was off the air, so the kids didn't even know the extent of their popularity until it was too late.

The 70's NMMC may have been referred to at the Forgotten Club (Lisa Whelchel has said that the New Mouseketeers sometimes refers to themselves as the "Forgotten Mice") but there are over 200 of us who haven't forgotten this special, little colorful show. We talk about the show and what the "Mice" are up to these days on a discussion group.

FOL 2001
20 November 2001
It was great to see Mrs. Garrett, Blair, Natalie and Tootie -- oops I mean Dorothy -- again! Even though the cast had made a pact years ago to never do a reunion show, they were glad to sign on for this trip down memory lane once they read the script. Despite the absence of Nancy McKeon as Jo, it was an enjoyable TV movie. The best part was all the inside jokes that only true FOL fans would "get." There were plenty of references to past cast members and tie-ins to the old FOL episodes.

Fun to See Again
22 October 2001
This 1977 TV special first aired 11/20/77 and has only been shown again on the Disney Channel in 1998, 1998 and 2001 (once each year). It's fun to see it again after first seeing it 24 years ago before most of us had VCRs. Here's hoping the Disney Channel gets enough feedback on this TV special that they'll air some NMMC episodes in a regular timeslot. This was Lisa Whelchel's first TV series before becoming well-known as "Blair" on "The Facts of Life."

The Apartment (1960)
My favorite movie of all time
4 April 2001
Since I first saw "The Apartment" when it aired on TV in January 1973, this has been my all-time favorite movie. I was only 15 years old and it opened up my eyes to what a great movie looks like. Shirley MacLaine has been my favorite actress ever since.

Get Out the Kleenex!
27 March 2000
Depressing subject perhaps, but worth viewing. Robin Williams is such a great performer. Don't want to give anything away, but there are a lot of surprises in this film. What a great ending. Oh, and when you rent it, make sure you have a box of Kleenex handy!

Deep Rising (1998)
Kevin J. O'Connor is a Stand Out
23 June 1999
Our family rented this movie while on vacation. It was a real treat. Gory in parts but also funny. Especially enjoyed the scene near the end when Pantucci gives the gun, in good faith, to the bad guy who's getting sucked up by one of the monsters. What a hysterical and unpredictable ending to that scene! We especially enjoyed the actor, Kevin J. O'Connor, who plays Pantucci. A few days later, we also recognized him in "The Mummy." What a great character actor! I will be following his career.
