Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Pretty bad overall - really poor story and editing
Just finished the big preview showing for June 30... pretty awful. Bad story, pretty weak acting (the tortured hero - puh-leeze), and strange homages. What was that "Mary Tyler Moore" moment with the freeze frame? And the screaming woman running at the camera...? Take off her shirt and it could be Airplane all over! The fusion ball - really stupid. And the rage from the Green Goblin's son and the tee-up for the sequel at the end - horrible. I was mildly entertained by the moments of levity, and the CGI was much better this time, but I predict that Spider-Man 2 won't have the July 4th box office that Hollywood is hoping. On an up note, the Bourne Supremacy looks very promising.
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004)
Should have been a Disney direct-to-TV movie.
Absolutely awful. I would have given it a "1" but the sole redeeming feature is that it is family safe -- PG rating was probably for the drunkard rock star. Apparently each review is supposed to be 10 lines?? OK, what else can I say. The girl's outfits were very silly. The dual role by Carol Kane was annoying. The story was pitiful. The rockers were lame. Our 3-year old laughed at the destructive parts. I chuckled 3 or 4 times, but it got painful to watch at about minute 20. Is this enough text, I wonder... Nope, still not enough. What on earth is there to say about a lame kids movie? Oh, I know. It did prompt us to rent the My Fair Lady DVD, so that's something good that came out of it.
The Hours (2002)
Very Bad Film
This movie is devoid of any redeeming qualities. A Tuscon Citizen reviewer writes: "The Hours" creates a 75-year-long link of desperate women drawn to the promise of lesbian tenderness but ultimately seduced by the promise of suicide." -- and not in a good way. Please don't spend your money on this garbage. Go look up who exactly votes on the Golden Globes instead -- that's a real eye-opener.
