I was put off by the constant darkness but after thinking about it that was an intregal part of the true-to-life experience I believe the filmmakers desired us to undergo. I hope more legitimate movies such as this explode onto theater screens. This one proves it don't take a Spielberg to make a great film. It's the scariest movie since "The Texas Chain-Saw Massacre".

Wouldn't recommend to Mother

I'd like my mom to see this just for the great lines and wit. I'm sure she'd love Quentin T. but the violence is a bit overboard. However, I recommend this film to everybody else. One of my top 10. Favorite scene? The tipping argument. I've had this opinion a very long time and never had a good opportunity to voice it. Thanks Quentin and thank Steve for the great delivery.

Purposely Amateurish

I love this movie. I could've did this one but I didn't and I congratulate those who did. One criticism, however, too much dark spoils it for most viewers. I was watching the reaction of other moviegoers throughout the film and I saw confusion and boredom in many faces. Any more low budget filmmakers in this genre should take heed. The tide is in, it's no longer novel, so keep that in mind.

Arlington Road (1999)

Bridges is no Kurt Russell

This is a Kurt Russell movie. I can't believe Bridges was the director's first choice. Kurt Russell should have snagged this role. Good movie but short on suspense and credibility. Although Joan Cusack's eerie Stepfordian performance should net her at least a top ten villain berth. Go see it but remember...it won't push any thing out of your top twenty list.

As interesting as Miss Dern's character is I was more involved in the subject matter. Much to my dismay no answers were given. It's still a tough argument. Glad I'm not the pregnant type because it's gotta be rough. This film succeeds in lightening the conscience load. I'll never push my beliefs in my daughter's face I'll just be there. Oh, I wonder what happened to Ruth....

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

Critics thrive on real issues, are irritated by creativity

To all the critic believers: Don't for a minute waste more time letting critics dissuade you from seeing this contemporary masterpiece. Media hypes 'em up, the critics bring 'em down. Not without fault however, this is still one we all must see (and multiple times at that). Who hasn't read "Huckleberry Finn"? Who hasn't been to a baseball game? Who hasn't tasted apple pie? For your own cultural sake, ENJOY THIS GREAT MOVIE!! (And encourage others to support this film so that the complete saga can continue to be told in spectacular fashion).

Go (1999)

I was on the edge of my seat

Whew, it's over. If you have a heart condition don't go see "Go". Great plot and fabulous tongue-in-cheek acting make this a joy to watch. Stand-out role is, of course, (Sarah Polley). Watch out for her. With a lot of youngsters out there making medium to poor movies it's refreshing to see something this good. The inside jokes in this movie are great. The "Pulp Fiction" comparisons you see in popular print are warranted. This one is bound to be a cult classic of the nth degree.

Of course, I gotta say it, the book is better than the movie. However, when re-reading the great McMurtry story, I found it impossible not to imagine Tommy Lee Jones as Woodrow and Bobby Duvall as Gus. I cannot believe the job they did with these roles. I'll never forget the scene where Gus is consoling Lorena after she's raped by Blue Duck nor the scene with Jake Spoon unable to convince his friends of his innocence. Purely heartbreaking as is most of it. A ten star movie with little, if any, competition. (McMurtry's book, 'Anything For Billy' is a good follow-up for western fans).

The Glass House (1972 TV Movie)

Exceptional early tv

I wish I had the video in my library but it's very hard to find...Rented copies are suspected 'pirated' copies from tv. Very poor quality. This is Morrow's best role. Alda's best role and Gulager's best role. The most believable prison movie ever made. No heroes here just heavy reality crammed into 90 minutes on network tv! Makes "The Shawshank Redemption" look like "Mary Poppins". Kudos to Morrow (the most vile characterization ever captured on film). Think "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" without the comic relief. Too depressing to make my top 10 list but it's in the top 20.
