The Object of My Affection (1998)
A REALLY TOUCHING FILM
I should start off by saying first, that you must see all this film, before judging it. I didn't see all of it the first time i saw it on cable, and saw really only the last 40 minutes of it. Then it was on one day, and I decided to give it a chance and watch the whole film... I'm glad i did. This movie is really good. It touched me, I couldn't believe that it did. I really enjoy movies that don't have the "hollywood ending," but I mean when this movie had ended, I was hoping that it had that ending. I acually started crying, (badly I might add, i'm a young guy, who isn't use to stuff like this). It made me realize of course that was the only way to end a movie like that. And i'm glad I did, but I like many other people have had that feeling of not being with the one we love. Nigel Hawthornes characters quote says it best, "ONE SHOULDN'T BE TO HARD ON ONESELF IF THE OBJECT OF ONE'S AFFECTION RETURNS THE FAVOR WITH RATHER LESS ENTHUSIASM THEN ONE MIGHT HAVE HOPED." That said, you shouldn't be, but where all human, and we do feel the pain, and it hurts. He felt Nina's pain. I know I did. This movie really is good, check it out.
Still Breathing (1997)
WHAT A GREAT DREAM....
Thats the best way to describe the movie. It's almost like one of those dreams you don't want to wake up from, because it makes you so happy. Thats was this movie is all about. Maybe things like this happen in real life and if they do, I want it to happen to me. Fraser once again give a great performance, Ms. Going is beautiful and just as talented as she is beautiful. The movie might not have worked so well as it did, if it were not for the chemistry they two of them shared in this film. It's funny at times, little sad at times, but it always entertains. I really don't believe much in love, but the movie makes me almost think that there might be a thing called love. I love this movie, I was really surprised to find out that this movie was so terrific, the ivy that you'll see in the movie is so gorgous. If it comes on cable and your home watch the movie, or go rent it. It will be the best decision you've made when it comes to trying to figure out what to watch on a Tuesday or Thursday night....DID I MENTION THAT I LOVED THIS MOVIE.
Swingers (1996)
THERE IS ONLY ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE IT: MONEY!!!!
This movie is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most entertaining movies of all time. All guys will end up liking this movie. I imagine that some girls will like this movie, because they can see what guys are thinking. The movie made me think a lot about how real life it is. I'm 10 years younger then most of the late 20 year old actors in the movie, but I've already experienced some of the issues that Swingers dealed with. The dating, the wondering when you should call a "beautiful baby", how to talk and how to act. The friendship that Mike has with different types (Trent, Rob, Charles, and Sue) shows how guys that at times don't have much in common can interact and be friends. The scenes where Mike tells a joke that isn't that funny is so sad, but so real. Any guy will admit they've told a stupid line to a girl, and wished they could have taken it back. The dialogue is witty and fresh. The monologue which Mike explains to Trent about why he doesn't like the girl's at clubs and bars had me rolling. Trent's pep talk to Mike about being the guy in the rated r movies is also one of the best parts of the movie. This movie is more real then the blair witch project, and 100 times better. Watch this movie on cable, rent it, or buy it because the movie is so MONEY.
Teresa's Tattoo (1994)
Well if you want to see the start of the downward spiral of c. thomas howell...
Like I said, this movie marks the start of Mr. Howell's nose dive into B movie land. It's a real shame too, now I read in an interview that he did some movies for financial reasons, and I have to say this has to be one of them, because the movie is god awful. What was Lou Diamond, doing there, and so many other cameos, you start to wonder what most of these people where thinking. This movie was probably out to rent right around the time, of Howell's last good movie That Night, go rent that movie instead, or rent one of Howell's better B movies, like the Sweeper, or something else If your a fan of c.t. I really hope, that one day, he can get out of b movie land, and get a supporting role, in a good movie, because Teresa's Tattoo, is horrible, avoid at all costs.
American Pie (1999)
I LOVED THAT MOVIE
When I went to see the special sneak prevue, for the movie I knew It was going to be funny. I didn't know however, how much I was going to love that movie. Granted a lot of the jokes, are crude, but they made everyone in the theater laugh. That's what a movie is supposed to do, entertain people and American Pie did just that.
It's more then just a bunch of guys trying to get laid. It shows how four very different types of guys come of age, during the last couple of months of school. It shows how important friendship is during high school and even though girls may come and go, friendship is a very important thing during your years of high school. The movie showed that. The movie was great, any on 15 years or older, I would suggest you go out and see this movie, because American Pie is a fantastic movie.
The Outsiders (1983)
GOOD BOOK AND A GOOD MOVIE
There are some parts in the book that aren't in the movie, but it does stay true the rest of the time to the book. I think it would be impossible to count the number of movies that the main 7 guys and 1 girl have done, but it's funny to see them all when they first started out. Great performances by all the actors, with Matt Dillon and C. Thomas Howell, really shining the brightest in this movie. I think Howell is the most underrated actor of all time. It's a good movie and everyone who hasn't seen the movie yet should watch it.
That Night (1992)
Very good movie
The movie was very good. I think this was Lewis' break out film. The film moved at a good pace and the direction was very good. C. Thomas Howell gave a great performance in my mind, the movie wasn't really about him,but he gave a good performance and it showed me that he deserves more than the movies that he's been doing for the last couple of years. I give the movie a 10. You should go rent it our try to find it on cable.
