She Freak (1967)

Hands down, the worst motion picture I've ever seen.
30 January 2001
This film has absolutely nothing to recommend it. Bad acting, an even worse script, poor cinematography ... you name it, it all flops. Many of the extras were not even aware they were taking part in a film as is evidenced by their staring curiously at the cameras. Unlike even PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, which is so bad it's at least worth some good laughs, this bomb doesn't even rate a good chuckle. An utter waste of celluloid.

Biggest disappointment of the millennium
30 January 2001
I came to this film with great anticipation, having been led to believe it was in the same genre as AIRPLANE and NAKED GUN, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I managed to catch it on opening night in a crowded theater, which should have ensured an enjoyable evening. However, from the opening scene to the closing credits I did not laugh one time and found myself mildly chuckling at only one or two scenes. For the most part I found this film to be one of the most vulgar, base, puerile, and downright offensive movies I've had the mispleasure of viewing. Had I not been sitting in the middle of a crowded section I most certainly would have walked out on this one -- something I've never done before simply because of a film's stupidity. By far this was the worst big-name film I've ever seen in my life. It's immense popularity deeply troubles me.

Van Damme shows true acting ability
30 January 2001
This film is somewhat atypical of Van Damme, best known for his flamboyant martial arts style. Viewers expecting the same in this film will perhaps be disappointed, but they may well be surprised as well as he demonstrates some genuine acting ability in LEGIONNAIRE. While not a truly great movie, it is nevertheless a worthy portrayal of the sacrifices of the French Foreign Legion. Forget that it's something of a takeoff on BEAU GESTE -- it's still an enjoyable film with a decent plot. I was most impressed with the moviemakers' attempts at accuracy in terms of props and equipment. For anyone interested in the FFL, this film is a definite must-see.
