There are a lot of negative reviews for this movie. But I have to disagree with most of them. While it is not the best movie you will ever see it is not as bad as everyone says it is. Gary Cooper is one of his lovable characters that he always is. While sure nowadays this movie would seem almost criminal but the movie not meant to be taken seriously it is a comedy. There is no amazing performances or outstanding direction. But their is something lovable about Cooper's character. I saw a review once that said this was a pathetic attempt at screwball comedy. Well I have to say that is a little harsh I can think of at least 5-10 movies that are worse at screwball comedies than this. So in my opinion don't skip this one you might just enjoy it.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. Everything in this movie is perfect the story, the directing, and especially the acting. I have only seen Henry Fonda do better in one other movie(On Golden Pond). And the supporting cast is just as great. How this movie didn't make AFI's 100 list I'll never know. This is a must see movie for any kind of film fan old or young!!!

This is one the greatest movies I have ever seen. (And I have seen a lot close to 1000 last time I checked)Anne Baxter is unforgettable as a quiet little theatre lover who turns into a a woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Bette Davis is well... Bette Davis she is the best and she ought to be claimed as the #1 actress of all time. The writing is superb with lots and lots of one liners for Bette to make herself look superior. If you haven't seen this movie yet go and buy it (not rent it buy it) because as soon as you see it you will want a copy of your own.
