The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013)
Another movie ruined by Carrey
A "B" movie at best with some not so good acting, but completely ruined by Jim Carrey. Carrey is not funny at all and morbidly sick.
Do not take children to see this as it is a sick movie with unnecessary and sick scenes from Jim Carrey that, if edited out, deleted, would have a beneficial improvement on the overall film.
The movie could have been entertaining if the scripts had been given better thought.
The cast contains talented actors, except for noted above, but they are not used to their potential.
Obviously, if you really are wanting to watch this movie, wait for the DVD or Red Box, do not waste you dollars at the theater.
Revolution (2012)
Non Feasibilty
The technical adviser to this series does not know much about physics and appears to be overpaid.
There are many flaws, including scenes where they are in a train tunnel and there is a collapse, and all of a sudden they are running out of air?
This is a train tunnel, with thousands of cubic feet of air, and it is not air tight. duh, Must have held you breath too long in the closet.
ALL in all it contains major logic flaws, almost too many to keep watching.
But the violence makes up for it a little bit and you may end up tearing your hair out because of the stupidity of knowing that even before we had electricity, we had powered tools, driven by water or beasts of burden, but this series seems to have forgotten this and everything does not work.
MacGruber (2010)
Sick and Disgusting Do not waste time
If you like butts with celery stuck up them, then you would love this movie, otherwise it lakes any redeeming humor whatsoever. I stayed through it to make sure I did not miss anything that would redeem this movie and nothing ever appeared. The attempted humor is very lacking and nothing does seem very funny at all. There are a few stars in this movie that really makes me wonder why they are so hard up as to have taking a role in this garbage. Sure there are those that say disregard the HATERS!, I do not hate this movie, I just see no reason to waste one's time watching it. The previews show only excerpts that appear to make the movie funny, but they are so off base, it is a total waste of time and movie. Do not take any kids to see this, as you will be embarrassed and would have to walk out at the disgusting topics --- Like the "Upper Decker" they refer to and think is funny --- crapping in the toilet water reserve rather than the toilet bowl --- how funny is that??? Also, killing all his team and then making another funny moment about that? MacGruber's only apparent skill is ripping out a person's throat and they show several of him doing so. Of course there are those of you that have nothing better to do and will enjoy this movie. For those of you that do, I feel sorry for you, as there is much more to life than this crap. Bob
Michael Clayton (2007)
What is the Story????
This is not a good movie. You never find out what exactly Michael Clayton does or why he is needed to do that thing that he does. The story has a bad plot and fails terribly in continuity. Just who are the bad guys anyway? There are better movies out there to watch rather than waste your time and money on this one. Example of bad thought out ideas --- Bad guys use a GPS, that does not work correctly and has nothing to do with a car bomb that is triggered with a cell phone --- DUH!!!!! And what will Michael do after this movie??? This actually looks and feels like a TV pilot that was rejected, but they had too much money in it to let it go on the floor. Do not feel too bad if you walk out of the theater after this movie and ask "What was that all about?" The movie keeps you waiting for something to happen and then disappoints when it does. If there is a book, maybe reading it first may give you some idea of what is happening in the movie.
Underdog (2007)
Great Kid Movie!!!
A very good movie for your kids. Most were laughing at the simple humor, which was very funny even for adults. Do not expect multi-million dollar special effects like Transformers, but do expect some very effective special effects designed for younger audiences. I observed kids as young as 4 or 5 really enjoy this movie and I also saw many grandparents enjoying it as well. A simple plot and easy to follow for everyone of all ages. If you want to enjoy a "feel good" movie with your young children, then this movie is just the one to see. I do not think it will remain on the big screen for long, so, if you miss it in the theaters, then by all means rent or buy the DVD.
Transformers (2007)
Saw it more than 8 times already!
WOW!!! What a fantastic movie. Sure a few flaws and goofs, but really a neat movie. The special effects and flow are very well done. Looks like a sequel may be coming, as the ending is like the 1st Star Wars (Episode 4) ending, with Darth's ship still intact at the end of the movie. It is worth to stay during the credits for the entertainment by the parents. Forget the laws of physics in this movie as the Transformers appear to be able to not only change their appearance, but their mass as well. OH? What do they feed on?? They appear to have unlimited energy resources and liquids, but we never see them digest anything to replenish their energy levels. Anyway, why would anyone consider laws of physics when attending this movie anyway --- just enjoy it. The movie is a good the 7th time viewing as it was the 1st time. Fortunately a theater here has $3,$4, $5, and $6 tickets available and every show is in DLP --- WOW!!!!!! If you love science fiction which defies laws of physics, then this is a fantastic movie. A lot of violence, so younger children may not be appropriate viewers.

HORRIBLE! Do not waste your Money
I saw this because I love Robin Williams. However, this movie is worse than "RV". The supposed "HUMOR" is bad, the plot stinks, it is extremely shallow and there really was no laughs that were worthy of Robin Williams. Sorry, but I was extremely disappointed. Yes, maybe I do tend to compare to a classic like "Mrs Doubtfire" which was a roll in the aisles funny movie. But where is Robin going??? I know he is much more creative than this waste of time and money. No one laughed at any of the "CANNED" humor while I was watching the movie. Most of the audience moaned during most of the movie and I heard NO LAUGHS whatsoever. This is a SICK movie that needs to be trashed and shredded as it has no redeeming value whatsoever. The situations are shallow and in some cases very stupid. OK, what is having a young boy hanging out with a reverend with a Roman Collar supposed to represent? It is very stupid to have a 12-14 year old young boy hanging out with a "Priest" like figure ... is there some message here?? Maybe in light of all the "Priest" scandals?? I think Robin should be himself and not keep taking these "Why in the world would I spend my money on these movies" roles. This is one of the worst movies I have seen. I sat through it to allow Robin Williams an attempt at redemption, but it never happened.
Wild Hogs (2007)
Why So much GAY References?
Sometimes a movie can drop from a great fun movie to one that is distasteful. This movie does not need all the references to homosexuality that it has in it. Makes a person think that all bikers are gay in leather! Is the director trying to push gay thoughts onto the audience that wants to see a neat motorcycle movie with John Travolta in it. I am surprised that he actually participated in a movie that contains so much reference to homosexuality. The singer at the festivities is an obvious attempt to make the homosexual gestures and words in the song to be funny, when they merely distract from the fun of the movie. Why have a cop make homosexual references that he wants to have sex with these bikers, not only once, but show up again naked at a swimming hole with the cast naked too? I think the movie has some makings of a great fun movie if those homosexual references are edited out, as they contribute nothing to the movie and actually send a message to young people that should not be in this type of movie. We are being barraged with sexual references in all types of movies today without the warnings that these movies contain these references. I am not against persons with alternative lifestyles, but I do not like being presented with obvious off color supposed to be humorous homosexual references and actions without my permission and I would be embarrassed to bring my teenage children to see this movie.
The Marine (2006)
Poor Acting but LOTS of Action and almost no plot
Do not see this movie if you are really into performances and acting, because this is not that type of movie. It is Violent! Quite Violent! Yet if you like bullets and explosions and fires and crashes and other destruction sequences, then this movie works. It is a typical far fetched action movie, where the main actor is "SUPERHUMAN", but is really a mere mortal with skills that would make him a superman without the ability to fly ---- no wait I think he does fly in many of the explosions. Plot is almost non-existent. The bad guy --- from terminator II --- is really a bad guy and admits to being insane and acts accordingly. There is some humor regarding the Terminator during a car chase and appears to be intentional, and it is cued so the audience should catch it clearly. There are some scenes that drag out and you can see the bad acting in those, but for the most part killing or getting killed does not require great acting and there is a LOT of that! Overall it is entertaining, if only for all the violence and explosions with neat fire effects ... some almost look like little nukes with high yields. If you have NOTHING better to see, then this is a movie for you.
The Guardian (2006)
Could Trigger Flashbacks for Rescue Personnel
I was very emotionally touched by this film, as it conveys ideas and thoughts from the people that risk their life to save others. I was a Medical Evacuation Pilot in Vietnam, and this movie caused me to question "Why did I risk my life to save those that I do not know?". That may seem like a simple question, but the answer I came up with is "Because I could!". This movie conveys that concept very well and has a lot of dialog that people that do this type of work, do not speak about. I thought that this movie did a great job expressing that view. However, some of the audience may not relate to this and not see the significance of why these people risk their life and take these chances. It is not for glory or fame or fortune. It is much deeper than that. I know, I did similar work and was shot at many times and shot once. I never knew the people that I saved and I never counted the saved ones, ONLY the ones I could not save. This move is very emotional, especially if you have any experience in this type of work, like firefighters, police, search and rescue, and other work that you cannot truly explain as to why you do it or did it. This movie brought back memories of my killed friends in Vietnam, simply because the situations and objectives were so similar. So, if you are a war veteran or a person that does or did rescue, then you may relate to this movie and it may give you flashbacks to some tragic events.
Barnyard (2006)
This Movie is SICK!
People have enough problems without this film confusing them more. Cows are COWS --- ALL FEMALE with UDDERS Bulls are Bulls --- ALL MALE without UDDERS How can someone pass this film to the intended audience and make COWS both male and female?? This is SICK! The makers of this film either are very sick or very stupid. I can understand if the makers had made the "BOY COWS" or "ADULT MALE COWS" gender neuter like Porky Pig, but this movie is just sick! Even the "ROOSTER" sounds like a HEN. The maker of this movie must have skipped "Birds and Bees" while growing up and has a warped view and absolutely no concept of Gender on a farm. I am also appalled that anyone would lend their voice to this type of movie. I suggest that you DO NOT take your kids to see this, as it will cause mental problems later in life. I know, I grew up next to a farm, and there ARE differences between COWS and BULLS.
Surface (2005)
Has makings of a great series
I like the show, but come-on writers, get some action in it! Quit dragging it on and on. You have a great concept and it could be a whole lot more. Miles (Jenkins) is great and performs as a kid that age should act in the situation he finds himself in. Hey, get creative with the creatures, they may have telepathic capabilities or other out-worldly powers. The kid actors in the series are very good and convincing. The parents of Miles do appear to be a little too out-of-sense as to what is going on, but develop this, come on! you have a great seed here and there can be a whole new twist to next season with a lot of new characters and creatures and all kinds of neat sci-fi stuff. If they could make a series on a witch, then you should be able to make one on these creatures and kids.
RV (2006)
Robin Williams Not used to Full Capacity
The movie is funny, but could have been MUCH MORE FUNNIER if the directors and writers really wrote some neat stuff for Robin Williams. There are situations that could have been hilarious, they are still funny, but not roll on the floor funny like Mrs Doubtfire. It is a good movie to take most of the kids to, as there were several in the theater that I watched it from. A lot of the kids were laughing and thought a lot of the stuff was funny. Do not get me wrong here, if you have never seen Robin Williams in hilarious roles, then you would not be as critical as I am. There is good clean entertainment for the family, about 8 yrs and older, to get some of the humor and understand some of the situations, and it does have good moral values and expresses that it is better to stand up for what is right than just do your job. I liked the movie and so did my older friend and my 13 year old friend, they both thought is was good. AND do not leave the theater when the credits start, as there are more funny things during the credits!
The Shaggy Dog (2006)
Not as bad as the reviews
I took my 12 year old grandson to see it and he was rolling on the floor for most of the film. I was surprised that it was actually funny, much more surprise than I was prepared for. This is a funny movie for those preteens and early teens as they seem to really enjoy it. Sure it is not full of high tech special effects and should never be compared to the Matrix, but it is a Disney! movie --- get it... a Disney movie. Take that into consideration ... how many Disney movies achieve high ratings anyway, other than the classics? This is a fun movie. I saw the original and it was funny too. Remember way back when everything was black and white and not color? The special effects in this movie are not very high tech and some of the metamorphosis takes place when you do not see it, so do not expect "the wolf-man" changes to be shown, nope, one shot he is a man, the next he is a dog. Some of the other critters are pretty funny too and kids seem to love this movie.
Bitter Harvest (1981)
This was actually based on a true story
I was amazed at this film. The story takes place in a fictional area, but I know for a fact that it was in Michigan during the mid-late 60's My relatives were on farms affected by the poison in this movie and the events actually occurred. Some of my relatives died as a result of the tainted food supply and others came down with horrible cancer growths. To this day, the farmers are not to speak of this event and the government covered up this story very well. I have to give Ron Howard a lot of credit to bring this information to the public, even though most will not know the true story. I do not want to give away the plot, but you must see this for yourself and then see if you can actually believe that it really happened. By the way, do some more research on the foundry sands of Detroit and see what they did there! There is not a movie about that part yet.
Lathe of Heaven (2002)
The original is MUCH Better
This new interpretation just does not flow as well as the original. If you have never seen the original, then you may just become confused as to what this movie is all about. I highly recommend that you see the original and get the DVD if you can. The DVD is not great quality and the pictures are blurred and have lots of shadows, but it is a great story. The original scared a lot of people, this new version will only confuse them.
I sure wish that they had followed the original story line more closely.
Behind Enemy Lines (2001)
Camera work makes a person sick!
Can't tell much about the movie, other than the camera will not settle down. For those persons subject to motion sickness, this is unforgivable!
The camera keeps moving for no reason, it does not enhance the plot, it does not make the movie better.
Perhaps it is designed to keep your attention off the bad script and acting, like ET did with all the LOUD music.
I had to leave because the movie made me sick and I could no longer view it.
When will directors and produces wake up and learn that when the camera distracts the movie goers, it is not beneficial to the revenue?
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
Adrenaline Rush
Does just what it is supposed to do ... give you an adrenaline rush. Players are well cast for the parts. Subtle digs on police and FBI so listen to the dialog well. If you ever raced illegally, this will bring back those moments and make you want to drag again! Where's my 409??
Battlefield Earth (2000)
Disregard the Critics!
This is a Science Fiction movie and it is pretty good. It does not have all the Star Wars gimmicks, but it is a decent movie. Some technical errors in the movie, like jet fuel that is 1000 years old and still useful ... some stuff like that. This book was written several years ago and some ideas were different. The movie was much better than the critics made it out. Everyone in the theatre stayed throughout the movie and no one left before the credits. If it was as bad as the critics said, then people would be heading for the exits quickly.
Keeping the Faith (2000)
This Priest, a Rabbi and this Woman ...
A very well done story. Great dialog and a very good delivery. Set in NY, this is a very plausible scenario. I think you will like this one.
Rules of Engagement (2000)
Insult to intelligence!
May have been based on true story, but writer and director did poor research on this one. Also trick viewer during film by presenting two different views. Most, who have not been in the service will not see all the defects, but this one stinks as far as attention to detail. Uniforms are worn wrong and the dialog is poor. If you like this movie then you probably liked siege too.
The Skulls (2000)
Shallow and superficial
Could have been a much better movie. Saw this plot in an older movie, but can't recall name. This movie tries to show that secret organizations are bad, but does a bad job about it. Characters are not well developed and suspense is shoddy. Recommend it only if nothing on tv.
Bringing Out the Dead (1999)
A great experience
Having been there, done that, in Vietnam.
I can relate to this movie extremely well.
It portrays the mental stress and irony of the job.
The "GOD" syndrome is felt by most in that business and the movie expresses it well.
Not for everyone, but a great trip for those who understand this type of work.
Double Jeopardy (1999)
Entertaining even if flawed logic and law
An entertaining movie, even though it is flawed logically.
It is worth the entry fee and probably won't disappoint.
Forget the obvious and accept the train of events.
It is similar to a made for tv movie designed to keep you in your seat for the next commercial.
Stigmata (1999)
They could have done better, but this stinks
A poorly made attempt to discredit the Catholic church. I am not Catholic, but this movie stinks. It appears that no research was done prior to making this movie. The camera effects attempt to distract the viewer from the actual content. It is disjointed, poorly made and way too long. Most of the special effects are amateurish. I expected much more than this move delivers. Do not waste your time or money on this farce.
