Twmffat23 January 2022
Acting - terrible Script- terrible Soundtrack - terrible Plot - unengaging and predictable SFX - laughable.

Overall zero redeeming features to this movie whatsoever.

I accidentally clicked 2 stars and it won't let me change it down :(

Wow.
jeroduptown23 January 2022
I wasn't sure if this was a horror or a comedy, because when the werewolf came it, it looked more like the cowardly lion than anything sinister. The script is sparse and elementary, which doesn't help the flick, either.

Not a particularly thrilling or exciting hunt...
paul_haakonsen21 January 2022
When I sat down in 2022 to watch the 2021 horror movie "The Hunting" from writers Mark Andrew Hamer, Heather Ryan and Terrance Ryan, I have to admit that I was lured in by the movie's cover/poster, and the promise of this being a werewolf movie. I will say that the movie's cover was really, really nice, so I had some expectations to "The Hunting", despite never having heard about it. And there is that saying "don't judge a book by its cover".

The same saying applies to movies apparently, because I was expecting a properly entertaining movie from director Mark Andrew Hamer with his 2021 movie "The Hunting". But I was handed a very monotonous and boring movie that offered almost nothing in terms of entertaining. In fact, I was wondering if the movie's title was a reference to the fact that perhaps the director was hunting for a proper script and storyline here.

Take heed, because "The Hunting" is by no means a good movie. Not unless you consider sitting through an endless tirade of dialogue and virtually nothing happening to justify this as a werewolf movie. I managed to suffer through about an hour of the ordeal that is "The Hunting", then I gave up out of pure and utter boredom. This movie was a massive swing and a miss.

The acting performances in the movie were adequate, especially when taking into consideration that the storyline and script gave the actors and actresses nothing to work with. I wasn't familiar with the cast in "The Hunting", and that is actually something I enjoy when watching movies. But the actors and actresses that partook in the making of this movie never got off to a running start.

Visually then "The Hunting" was mundane too. There was nothing grand to be seen here. At least not in the one hour of torment I suffered through.

Don't waste your time, money or effort on this movie. If you enjoy werewolf movies there are better choices out there. Granted, the majority of movies in the werewolf genre are dubious, but there are movies worth watching out there. Sadly, then "The Hunting" just wasn't one of them.

I am rating "The Hunting" a three out of ten stars.

Ridiculous
Djm03199 March 2022
This was worse than a B rated movie. The acting was horrible. This reminded me of the quality of the original "Last house on the Left" or a 1960's porno.

Just really bad...
jackorama-4638322 January 2022
I fast forward through this movie and wished I had just shut it off. Just thinking about this movie makes me wish I had never heard about it. I usually check out the trailers to movies as the posters always make a bad move look good. The trailer was not bad, so I thought I would give the movie a try. I no longer can trust trailers.

False Advertising
wcohan1 May 2022
Don't get fooled by the cover; there is no creature, it is a boring wolfman. The cheap-looking wolfman makes a fuzzy appearance at the beginning and end of this horribly amateur, cheap flick.

Don't waste your time.
voe-8097331 January 2022
Bad acting, cliche plot, and the werewolf looked like a kid's Halloween costume. Don't waste the time or money. I understand this movie was created on a budget and not everyone has incredible CGI skills, but at least try to make it unique.

Not to sound edgy and cool but...
VargKorp24 January 2022
This is literally the worst movie I've seen the last 15-20 years. It's laughable. There's absolutely nothing good about this movie. It's a minus 1 out of 10.

Couldn't Find Real Actors??
dongillette125 January 2022
Angela Cole was good, but she was the only actor in the entire cast. Peyton Hillis was so bad it was laughable and the rest of them would make better mimes than actors. Couple this up with a few scenes that were completely ridiculous (the gay guy and his sister sizing up Hillis would be insulting to anybody--gay or not) and you've got just a completely horrible attempt at making a film. I made it 45 minutes and just couldn't take anymore.

Great Movie for Budget
fairydove25 January 2022
This movie was not the worst, not the best, but it had a story. This group did a great job and hope to see more from them. The scenery in this Movie is beautiful. With a bigger budget I an sure this crew will only get better!

A generally solid if somewhat problematic indie creature feature
kannibalcorpsegrinder2 January 2023
After a strangely mutilated body is found, the sheriff of a small-town community trying to overcome his battles with PTSD attempts to look into the reports of a vicious wolf being responsible, but the more he and his staff investigate the incidents find something much darker is the real killer.

This was a pretty decent if still problematic genre effort. Among its better elements here is the solid storyline here that features enough of a setup for the creatures' existence. The small-town setup involving the soldier struggling with his own issues after returning from military service and trying to use his skills to save the others who are being stalked and killed by a vicious animal is quite nice, keeping things moving along with the investigation angle for the majority of the running time. As this one develops into a rather intriguing mystery around the identity of the killer due to the alarmingly brutal evidence coming together, this one provides quite a lot to like here. As well, the film also manages to get enough to like with its attack scenes which are quite fun at points. The opening attack on the hunter in the woods offers a rather strong starting point as the shadowy creature lunging out of the darkness combined with the scenes of it mutilating the body are quite fun enough here. A later assault on campers out in the woods is as much fun with a startling ambush and a decent chase providing some thrilling moments, while a later ambush on a hunter provides a great setup for the low-key finale that has a lot to like. Featuring a stellar twist reveal that comes about rather nicely while also offering a rather impressive setup that's a touching reminder of the effects of PTSD in military personnel that's genuinely effective without being heavy-handed. With a solid creature design also in use here with the effective indie gore, these here are enough to make for a fun time here. There are some issues that hold this one back. One of the major problematic features is the highly underwhelming setup that doesn't have much in the way of genre action for fans wanting an action-packed story. Focusing far more on investigating the source of the crimes, the clues being left behind about its real identity and building relationships with the other residents in the town trying to solve the deaths as well only end up bringing about a real dearth of activity for the majority of the film. Forgoing creature action instead of these tactics allow for a sluggish build that might not be the most appreciable for most when it's apparent the culprit from the very beginning. That is the other problem when it's quite hard to believe they've missed the obvious which makes for a troublesome time here being so far ahead of the trained police staff, which along with its low-budget origins are the main detriments featured here.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.

This movie is so ridiculously stupid.

Some steroid pumped NFL player decides on becoming an actor and the result is this laughable movie. Not well written. No special effects.

joelle westwood...
ops-5253521 January 2022
Might blind you and therefore fool you to believe that this is better than nothing, and she does save the glory of an ever so daft and slow thriller flick, that only the boldest narcississt would call a horror movie.

Its not an a, nor a b, definately a c-movie, its low budget, small cast, wannabe warewolf horror feature where everything is shroudded in indian tribe mystique, where the culprit is there all the time, just to outwrench you in the end with a mitochondrial fluxed twist . I didnt see it even though i saw it, cause blood is thicker than blood, isnt it?

Well there are some murders, not the blooody gore you may expect, the monster costume pretty nice, but special effects are nearly completely absent and where they are present ,they are so primitive and of the homemade stuff. Loads of empty dialouges and trytobe-acting makes a game of hangman in the classroom become a better pillia erector thriller than this. When watching i got wibes of the past, just imagine how they made horror movies in the early 1920's silent movies era

the grumpy old man gives a weak 3, you can let this one slip away easily, try a wolverine next time!!!

Absolute garbage
dezswebster15 April 2022
Wooden acting..The acting has a lot to be desired . All talking and little action . Switched off after 40 mins and that was pushing it. The camera work was good but the rest is an embarrassment.

Possibly the worst movie ever
svg-5413630 January 2022
Where do I begin? The opening kill scene literally made me laugh. The lack of effects was awful. The acting overall was horrendous with hardly any emotion whatsoever. The war flashbacks were just thrown in and never given any context. The so called werewolf looked like the cowardly lion in wizard of Oz. Please do not spend money on this movie. Ouch.

No redeeming qualities ... more like "F" Budget
afiazuddin-004006 September 2022
I am a fair guy. Really. I give benefit of the doubt to different situations, including movies, all the time. But I cannot here. This was bad. I confess I did not finish it ... so maybe I missed the cinematic climax of the century. But the acting was SO POOR, that I had to stop. That is why I call it an "F Budget" movie. Because even in many B-budgets, the acting can be pretty decent notwothstanding poor writing, direction, and effects. This was more like middle school drama club trying to make a horror film on a smart phone with a tripod. It was boring. And even past the terrible acting, there was no originality or logical execution to the storyline either. Oh by the way, I think it is a werewolf flick. Lol. Not sure....

Better Than Expected
hackraytex24 June 2022
I try to have an open mind when approaching such a movie as this. If there is no one I recognize I get curious. It usually does not take long to see if it is a low budget production but I will still check it out. I am pleasantly surprised by this one. For a low budget movie, the location was very good and so were the production values. It flows smoothly so I am fine with the direction nd writing. A lot of the actors don't a lot of projects behind them but you could have fooled me. I think a lot of them have a future in this business if they keep working hard at it. Good job and good luck.

Hilariously Bad
kingdomofshadows26 June 2023
Enter Sherrif Steroid and Deputy Dumb Arse to solve this mind blowing case. Apart from these two not being able to find a fire blowing dragon in the dark, their acting was on par with the Three Stooges playing in a Shakespearean play. The narrative of this mess made no sense at all. Seriously, this has no redeeming qualities except for the girl who played the wolf lady. She was the only actor in the film that was worth watching.

I was going to ditch this flick after 15 minutes but I thought I'd give it a chance. Big mistake. There are no spoilers and that's why I gave it a chance. There's nothing to spoil. It was awful to say the least. 5 out of 975 billion.

Cheap wolf man
angeliaserls30 May 2023
The movie is ok. But the acting sucks. The "werewolf" Ha he looks like a fuzzy puppy... Like to see if there will be a #2 tod might be a better werewolf or better at acting! I wouldn't waste my time watching it. The real wolves looks scarier than the werewolf... Connor is hot.af.. It doesn't show what happened to the chiefs son either he just like a fart in the wind......... poof... Maggie is pretty that's all she has going for her because her acting sucks.. the gay guy is my favorite actor in the whole movie well him and Connor. Just go watch silver bullet it's wayyy better than this.........

Veteran Message
zrtqfywq23 January 2022
A a veteran I sincerely appreciated the writer's creativity and ability to connect a true to life issue for veterans with entertainment. Given the budget and the fact that the actors and entire team are new at this, I say ten thumbs up! I especially appreciated Westwood's sincerity and multi-dimensional character. Can't wait to see what this team does next!

Critic Reviews Are Higher Than Viewer Reviews
uhafmd12 May 2023
I used to decide whether to watch a movie based on viewer reviews. Lately I've started reading critics' reviews as well. Viewer Reviews are primarily based on "Did I like it?" Critic's Reviews are much more nuanced, explaining why they did or didn't like it.

Critic's Reviews often trace the history and development of the movie's theme, and how it does or doesn't add to the continuing development of it.

I enjoyed the movie primarily because in many ways, it hearkened back to the early days of werewolf Movies. Think Larry Talbot (Both Lon Chaneys), or The Creature From the Black Lagoon (Ben Chapman on land, Rico Browning underwater) or even Hajuro Nakajima and Kasumi Tezuka inside that silliness rubber suit as the ORIGINAL Gojira/Godzilla.

So I was both pleased and amused by the creature's costume.

A lot of movies in the genre contain end-of-the-reel spoilers. I won't say what this one's is, but I especially enjoyed the fact that it has not one but 2 spoilers.

The ladies carried this one
minilauren23 January 2022
Westwood, Azaro, and Cole (the 3 women) were the best parts of this movie. They gave great performances and I wish they had more screen time. Specifically Westwood (Maggie) felt so much more lifelike in her performance than some of her scene mates. The visuals/cinematography were well done throughout but there seemed to be just as much B-roll in this movie as there was dialogue or action. The music was a bit distracting from the dialogue scenes, which I only really cared about when the women were talking. The plot twist was a pleasant little surprise at the end to wrap things up and there may have been a hint at a sequel.

Not bad
anthronerdy-6483621 August 2022
Good plot. Cheap special effects, but did the best they could with a budget. Acting was shaky, but overall I think it's good to see someone trying to bring this genre back to life. There's some weaknesses but overall I like it.
