So glad she's back.

It's hard to believe that this is Vera's Tenth anniversary, she hasn't changed much at all, and neither has the quality of the show.

After ten years it is still excellent, Series Ten opens up with Blood will tell, an exciting, engaging, cohesive murder mystery, which is easy to follow, at no stage did I lose the plot or find it difficult to stay with.

Some impressive production values, that garage fire looked pretty impressive, no dodgy sets used here.

I was kept guessing until the very end, not a twist I was expecting.

Blethyn continues to impress, she was terrific. I enjoyed her last scene in particular. If this is the standard for the series, we're in for a treat.

I loved it. 9/10

Fathers' Day

Warning: Spoilers
This season 10 opener is a powerful episode featuring the trials and tribulations of three fathers. The first one, Freddie Gill, was a dodgy fella who was unfortunately murdered in the opening scene before the haunting credits. He left behind a widow and a son. The second father is Nasir Ali, the hapless business partner of Freddie. Nasir's son (studying dentistry) plays a key role in the deus ex machina ending characteristic of Vera. The third father was the father of Lee Tripp (brother-in-law to Freddie). It turns out Lee's biological father is (shock horror!!!) his uncle Darren. Keeping it in the family I guess.

The beautiful Charlotte Pyke plays Jade Gill, the widow of Freddie. Charlotte is also a Russian translator on top of her acting work.

Great First Episode to Series 10

We enjoyed the kick off to Series 10 very much. All the usual crew there, along with spiderweb of interconnected suspects on who done it.

Sunshine, not gloom

I am so happy to have Vera back. I really noticed the picture quality is so good, perhaps often due to the lovely weather. The beautiful scenery isn't hidden by dark clouds, mist and all out downpours. Storyline, production and of course performances were top notch.

Blood Will Tell

It is a good job viewers do not take a swig of the strong stuff each time Vera says 'Pet.' All the viewers would be blind drunk.

You do need your wits about you as Vera investigates the death of entrepreneur Freddie Gill. He obviously had debts as his body was discovered by the bailiffs.

Later a used car business that Freddie was involved in with business partner Nasir Ali, suffers an arson attack.

The list of suspects increase as Freddie's family members become possible suspects, complex relations unravel. Handily Vera puts a chart up with faces in the investigation room. She gives a run through of the suspects and any motive they may have.

It probably worked out a little too neatly at the end for the police. Probably not worth a closer examination.
