My favorite episode so far, both funny and heartwarming.

The Fifties Dance
Hitchcoc2 October 2023
Once again, Jenny Joyce and her compadre take over the school and decide to drop the usual spring dance and substitute a 50's dance. First of all, this leads to all the girls having to get clothing for this without any money to use. We meet a new girl who has been thrown out of her old school. She is of Chinese decent, but grew up in Donegal and speaks perfect English. Erin tries to usurp the affections of a boy she has sought after and there are some touching scenes at the end. But after that, we have a bit of a recreation of the Stephen King movie, "Carrie." Jenny Joyce has wanted to be Prom Queen and this leads to some eventualities.

Worst episode of the series by my count
yavermbizi22 July 2021
My overall rating of "Derry girls"'s Season 2: 5/10.

There are, in total, 3 episodes of "Derry girls" out of 12 which I rated 3/10 (and none lower than that). With the other two - "Episode 1.4" and "Ms De Brún and the Child of Prague" - there were still entire scenes that I found funny, even if the rest of the episode was taking on water. With this one, I could at most count individual _jokes_ that worked for me, which is quite bad, especially by this series' standards.

This episode also brings something that I was waiting for for a long time: "Zombie" by "The Cranberries", the one '90s song that the series hadn't yet had but absolutely had to have had, given its setting. I guess the moment "Zombie" plays in is significant, but not quite tonally in accord with the song itself?.. Maybe S1 finale would've been a better fit for it? Especially considering that such a great song deserves to star in a better kind of episode.
