I love it. I almost cried several times because of the feelings it created.

A sweet movie, an important movie.

One of the best swedish films in a long time

Relatable characters and the acting is really good, for being a Swedish film. It's partly really funny, partly dramatic but it's also a really sweet story about a family going through changes. I really enjoyed this movie and will see it again.

Brilliant

I find this film brilliant. It convincingly tells the navigation of identity and sexuality of the transgender person, and the subsequent identity negotiation of family members. It is touching, real, and authentic. I recommend this to everyone.

Great message and right for it's time!

Rolf lassgård is oustanding in this film and should have won the guldbagge price here in sweden for it.

The movie it'self is filled with emotion as we see a life crise from Both the father and Daughter turn into something beautiful in the end!

Lena Endre is also great as always and to play the Wife to a man that turn into a woman is a hard acting and she proofs that she is a professional.

Hedda Steirnstedt is phenominal in the role playing the daughter who has a life crise of her own with trying to get her dream job but fail in a way, and the love life is not great for her.

But back to Hedda who is a great in this movie and a mewborn swedish movie Star!

Nope

The story per se is an interesting story BUT the ONLY acting worth to watch is on Rolf Lassgård . And I really don't understand why Swedish directors are so bad? Far too many Swedish movies are directed in such painfully poor outcome. Yuck!! Just like my English writing I guess. I'm swede.

Swedish film at it's worse
patrikcaesar1 September 2021
Swedish attempt to jump on the woke train and falls flat on it's face on all parameters.

It's not engaging, the acting is at It's best flatter than a pancake, the writing shallow like a Harlequin novel and it's so predictable so from the first minutes of the scenes until the last.

You are invited to spend your valuable time on a film that doesn't have anything to say,the doors they so bravely kick in, was removed by the builders a year ago and the house demolished.

It's an imaginary Don Quixote giants aren't even windmills, the problem they try to investigate, doesn't exist in Sweden and hasn't for the last 10 years at least.

Not that great.

This movie has gotten rather good reviews, and I struggle to understand why. It's trying to be witty and insightful, but it falls flat with bad, shallow acting and a predictable plot. The movie is trying to convey the message that transvestites (and I would assume people in general) should be accepted as they are by society, and that's all well and good, but it lacks a deeper meaning. Rolf Lassgård, Lene Endre, Nour El-Refai and Ralph Carlsson all give solid performances, but with the rest of the cast I'm left wondering what I'm really watching. Hedda Stiernstedt's character is behaving more like a spoiled fourteen-year-old than the twenty-eight-year-old woman she is meant to portray, and the villagers are extremely plastic and unreal. I guess that "Min pappa Marianne" is watchable if you have some time to kill, but for me it's nothing more than that. Because of the aforementioned reasons, I really can't rate this movie higher than four stars out of ten.

Awful, unfunny and akward
OJT5 May 2021
The score on this film is ridiculous. The film is really both unfunny and quite nasty. I was expecting a sweet story, nd not a story filled with stupid characters acting awkward.

OK if the story is a not very likely story to happen, but even worse is it that this film is very unfunny. It's a feel-bad movie in the disguise of a feelgood movie.

Not even two of the bes actors in sweden were able to save this. Nor did they try.

What has happened to Sweden as a film making country!?

Superb movie!

A wonderful movie that brought laughter and tears! Its not without reason that this film is an award winner. The film beautifully and realistically portraits both negative and positive sides of coming out as a transperson, from a family dad and priest transforming into the greater version of her true self. How does it affect her closest family? Will the family and small community accept her? Its not a movie full of action or thrill but full of everyday moments and feelgood emotions. I can highly recommend it.
