MUST WATCH!!
treehillshoe8 August 2020
This is a really Beautiful anime. DONT KNOW HOW AND WHY IT IS UNDERRATED. This anime is simply beautiful. Beautiful in its visuals, sound tracks, characters. The title track is just amazing. I really loved it. There is a great amount of focus on the development of the characters. This is not typically a romance anime. There are some cute scenes but more than those scenes, the way those characters develop interconnecting each other is just simply BEAUTIFUL! This is a must watch for people who like or prefer Slice of Life and high school animes. However anyone can watch it. This is just must for everyone. I am just moved by how much focus it puts on the characters individually. Loved it. Go for this one, it's a really beautiful one in all perspectives!

Brilliant inspiring funny music anime

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I just loved this anime, it just shows how real the characters are and what they went through before joining the koto club altogether. The ending was superb too with all of them finally performing! However it was abrupt as well since it's making room for season 2 to continue the story in the autumn. Yeah if you're impatient as me in finding out what happens next, read the manga.

Fantastic show, sub actors were great, story was emotional and also hearing the koto was just breaktaking in all 13 episodes. Definitely watch this folks, it's just fabulous!

Absolutely Beautiful!
say_waugh19 January 2021
This was a well-balanced & heartfelt story of both misunderstood teens & adults struggling with their own challenges with life while brought together with the love of Kota music. This series was an elegant way to introduce the art of Kota. The English dubbed presentation was well done & the animation was pleasant to the eyes as well. There was several tear-jerking moments that will surely pull at your heart strings. If you're in the mood for a sweet story to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, this is a must see.

SIMPLY A MASTERPIECE
syahidahbtamin12 September 2021
If you like Haikyuu or Chihayafuru, you will loveee this anime!!

Ive watched this anime randomly on Netflix and could not stop watching after the 1st episode.. I was left with all sorts of feelings and new knowledge about the Koto instrument. I'm sad that this anime is so underrated when the storyline, soundtrack, art is clearly top notch and deserve so much more recognition.

Lightweight, uplifting, heartwarming and emotional. Clearly you're missing out if you have not watch it. Simply a masterpiece.

BORING

Slow and boring. It wasn't enjoyable at all. I watched until the 5th episode thinking that it would eventually get good but nope. Wasted my time.

Great storyline, fiendship, daily life without superpower. But so much cropped story at manga, so i recommend to read the manga first.

An underrated and underappreciated anime
talking_about_movies19 April 2022
A heartfelt, heartwarming and inspiring story about friendship, passion and determination. It has memorable and loveable characters and great chemistry among them. Each character is well written and has their own arc, their own history and their own personality. And the music is astounding.

DEFINITELY TRY THIS, I CAN'T STOP WATCHING
mervinabiera7 March 2022
It was a gloomy day on a rainy afternoon that I've decided to find some random anime on Netflix. I kept scrolling and I often notice this anime. I tried to watch it and at first episode I find it a mediocre-boring slice of life anime, even so, I decided to continue watching hoping something interesting would happen, and something really did.

I really didn't mind at all to finish watching an anime with one or two seasons. I would usually pause and continue watching a series a few days later if I find the first episodes boring, but that didn't happen. I would slowly start to lose hope at the first 3 episodes, then I got hyped from episode 4, and then I can't stop watching. I continued my journey of watching the rest. How do I put this, this is the first time that I've felt a strange excitement spreading throughout my body; the tense, the sweet moments, everything!!. I honestly felt something tickling inside me all the time that gives me intense excitement while watching the episodes. And also, we can't forget about the music specially the musical piece played in the Koto instrument filled with different emotions. I was in awe listening to them and the emotions and drama really struck me that I always end up watery eyes (ALMOST CRIED MANY TIMES). I absolutely love the romantic pairs in the series. I fell in love with Chika's character and how his background, personality, and look made Hozuki start to have feelings in him (one of the best part of my enjoyment in the series although romance is just the side dish). Overall I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND watching this anime!!

I don't know if you will experience the same thing like me, but you'll never know unless you try..

After watching the series, I felt sad because of the wholesomeness of the friendship portrayed. I envied it and even compared the situation of my loneliness having no friends like that.. I was really sad and was depressed for a whole day. Even so I didn't regret watching it and was glad that it was engraved in my heart............................ Can't wait for season 3☺☺☺

Beautiful Anime
blankqueenart23 April 2022
This anime was beautiful to watch! I had never heard the koto before this and can now say that it's an incredibly beautiful instrument. This anime gave me some more insight into Japanese culture, and I feel like all of the characters were really likeable too. During the anime we get to know a little bit about each character instead of just focusing on the main character all the time and that's something that was really well done here. The only critiques I have is that the plot gets a little bit repetitive, but it's not that big of an issue to be honest. Also, I got really invested in the romance that was in the anime, very cute and adorable scenes! A must-watch!

I was SPEECHLESS and INSPIRED
gujjalaprabhat19 July 2023
This anime is just amazing. One of the most amazing musical based anime. This would take us in a joy ride of emotions. So emotional that it's the best. The best trust me it's worth it, each and every episode is a crazy fun ride.

Ohh well I can easily say that this anime is also inspiring. Hardwork pays off period. The taste of working hard and then being recognised for it THATS JUST AMAZING ISNT IT. This anime made me feel like even I can still feel the same enthusiasm after working hard. Just love this anime. One of the best out there. Don't know why not many talk about this anime though but seriously this is the best that's it.

Most Underrated
jarajapuchaminaidu28 January 2023
This was best anime I've ever seen in genre of romance, slice of life, traditional Japanese music and most of the important is character design was awesome it felt really like real life story with sweet high school romance. I have been waiting for season 3 but i couldn't wait so i read manga it was so good still it's not popular anime most of the people didn't know it is best slice of anime i could re-watch it again and again but it wouldn't still get bored the female characters was fantastic in this anime i hope they will release as soon as possible I am suggesting this anime if you give it try you won't regret it. It's the most comfortable anime but too good be real..so give it try.

Absolutely beautiful!
KieraLynnR8 June 2022
The music was breathtaking. Particularly the song they preform for the national qualifiers, it gave me goosebumps and brought me to tears. I've never heard the koto before but this show made me fall in love with its sound. The anime itself was beautifully colored, well written, I really loved the dub actors, all around it was well worth the watch. I really wish they had continued with the manga. But you know how it goes, still so worth watching though!

The musical masterpiece.
smanik-1610321 May 2023
The story was good. No action just drama. Good character building. Great animation.

But the music was just wow.

I can't express the music in this anime I never heard of Koto instrument, but still the music just swept my heart away.

Bonding with friends, family issues, society's criticism these things are very well handled here.

But again I never thought I will cry listening to some instrument I never heard a name.

The stage shows, the quality of music there just soo good.

I don't have any credibility to review such a musical masterpiece. I am just writing what's on my heart right now.

If you love and enjoy music this anime is a must watch for you.

If you don't listen to many music still I recommend watch this one at least one time.

You are thank me later.

Madara00128 November 2022
First of all this anime is very very wholesome it's Great with the story and the plot also the background music is make the perfect moments more perfect...

Anime has good music plus good background story of different characters so you connect well with the different characters and even they manage to keep the touch of romance and slice of life in the anime

Good anime you should give it a try...

Diamond
Mysterygeneration17 January 2024
It is, very literally, the unsung hero of the spring, the finest hidden (diamond) gem that goes unappreciated because so few people are recognizing it. It's not an AOTS or a masterpiece, in my opinion, but it's a genuinely enjoyable movie. The Tokise High School Koto Club's path to fame will continue in the second season, which will premiere in the fall of 2019. And for the time being, the TGI-Saturdays of intense music marathon is done.

Can you believe, for example, that the second season was scheduled at the exact moment the show's pilot episodes were airing? That right there is some strong determination.

First, though, a little history of the Koto, the series' main character. The national instrument of the Land of the Rising Sun, the koto is a 13- or 17-string version of the Chinese Guzheng, originally established over many generations in China. The tones produced by this wonderful instrument are unmatched (the stringed "Angels" harp is not even near). As much as I've viewed anime and read manga for a long time, no music series has yet featured the use of the koto.

The Tokise High School Koto Club was originally a club of mediocrity, but the seniors are now playing since the small reminder poster in the practice room says, "Aim for Nationals!" and they don't want to play for that. Even worse, Takezo Kurata, a second-year, is the only member of the group still alive because all of his seniors graduated at once. Not to be outdone, Takezo, the club's new president, strives to get new members to carry on the koto playing heritage, despite the fact that he is an amateur.

And then... Chika Kudo, the most infamous student at the school, who has been accused of delinquency and is in and out of fights with individuals, enters. Remarkably, if you noticed that his name means "love" in Hirakana, you may surmise that his pals call him names because of his immature disposition. Because of his past misbehavior and the fact that his grandfather created Koto instruments for others, I believe the Koto would have saved him in his early years, but it wasn't meant to be. Instead, he learned a hard lesson and gained the ability to express himself as the series progressed. He's not alone, though.

The only thing that saddens me is that, in the seasonal competition between Shinichi Watanabe's "Carole & Tuesday" and this one, I would venture to guess which series received the greatest attention-and by far the most obvious. So, even if you're not an anime fan or a fan of the musical genre, I strongly, strongly advise you to give this series another shot and to not cut corners.
