A Pay Pig is the name given to a client who pays a dominatrix money without getting much in return but more demands and abuse. In this short film we focus on two individuals without such a "relationship". The film is nicely put together, with YouTube posts, instant messages, and in-person drama. It moves with a good pace which engages, and it has a responsible balance where it doesn't go in for one of the people or the other, but just lets them be what they are. At times this produces some nice moments, but mostly I didn't get what it was trying to do/say.
Part of this feeling is that it is short, and it does have superficiality to it, so we don't delve into the characters particularly; for instance only one moment brought me close to Blane, which was seeing him in the Times Sq crowd flexing and posing, striking me as someone so keen to have attention but yet not getting it (his blog posts have double-figure views) so perhaps it is easy to believe that he pays for female attention that comes in a form that continually reminds him that he doesn't deserve this and can't have it. I liked this small moment and that it did have links across the film, but mostly not much is brought out.
It still engages in its slick delivery, and it is worth a glance, but it is not particularly satisfying as a whole.

A decent sketch of a slice of dark reality. A bodybuilder and a dominatrix. And money. And, sure, the internet. The basic virtue of film - the performance of. Rob Youlles. And, unfortunatelly, without the scenes in Times Squaire and the beginning, nothing real interesting.
