I don't get why there are so many bad ratings and reviews on this. I thought this show was so good and the plot twist at the end was mind-blowing. It kept me guessing until the very end and even if you think you can predict what's gonna happen at the end, you can't. And then if you go back and watch it after knowing what happens there are so many clues and details to catch. I loved it and if you enjoy twist endings like I do then I definitely recommend watching. I wish I could watch it again for the first time. It's been at least a month since I finished it and I still can't stop thinking about it. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.

Surely watch this, but pay attention!
TreeFiddy532 March 2021
It has suspense, mystery, supernatural elements, all sorts of twists and turns. This show, that could be categorized as a slow burn, has only 6 episodes. You can tell that there's something wrong, that something doesn't add up, but you can't tell what. And they did a good job of wrapping all that into a package that kept me hooked and engaged.
Good acting by everyone involved, decent music to keep the intensity up, very well shot, and they seem to jump back-and-forth in their storytelling which didn't feel choppy at all. When you start figuring things out, you're gonna be like "I did NOT see that coming!" Or at least "Why did I not see this coming!? The clues were RIGHT THERE!"
Parts of the show, I thought were super predictable, until they weren't. But i had to wait until the end to find that out. And i wasn't disappointed at all. This show is a quick weekend watch, I'm glad that they decided to keep it to 6 episodes and didn't do 10.
I'd recommend the show!
Only, don't watch the show while you're doing something else. There will be clues here and there that you'd wish you had picked up as you start putting the puzzle together at the end. If you like shows with accents, you should surely watch this one
intriguing but disappointing

Behind Her Eyes is a decent story - up to a point - and well acted by Simona Brown, Eve Hewson, and Tom Bateman.
I won't rehash the plot. I will say it keeps you guessing, and there are a few twists.
However, at the very end, there is one twist too many.
Also, I think people were misled and upended by what it was they were watching. They were expecting one genre, and it started that way - then it turned into another genre, and the people watching weren't necessarily fans of the second genre.
Behind Her Eyes has very nice production values and good-looking people. The story could have been much stronger, and as far as the "twists," they should have quit while they were ahead.

Inside out

The question with this movie: is the whole build up worth what it culminates to? The ending, the twist of sorts .. that you may see coming or not. Now you have to be the judge of that ultimately - I can only give you pointers and tell you my perspective on it. So for the ending to happen as it does, a lot of things have to come together that are almost .. coincidence. Certain things you can't plan ... actually hoping for or planning for something to happen the exact way it does is rather ... let's say tough.
Having said all that, the build up is quite nice and it really brings you closer to everyone. Especially our 3 main characters ... and another one we do not get or suspect from the start. The acting is good, the story is working.
There are a lot of red herrings thrown into the mix and the story seems to revolve around one thing more than ... well something completely different at first. But this mystery and the way it ... evolves is more than fine. I think a lot of the viewers will be able to guess that there is more to the story early on though. Not to mention to figure certain dynamics out.
And then there is this other element to it. You'll either embrace it - or it will completely take you out of it - "non-realistic" and all that. Suspend your disbelief is what I say to that - if you can.

Could've Been so Great

The first four episodes were so great! I was constantly guessing what had happened and who did what. Then it got too far fetched and fantastical for me. They should've put this under sci-fi. The ending completely ruined everything the show had built up and made no sense. Wasnt necessarily a waste of time but wasn't something I would ever watch again.
I wish I was told it was a fantasy.

It was fine. Definitely not awful, cool twist at the end and brilliant casting (not that I've read the book to compare, but the acting was strong throughout).
But I just wish I was informed that it was a fantasy before I'd watched most of the series. I was completely taken aback in episode 4 (I think it was) when they just started doing the 'floaty orb' thing, because I thought I was in for a gritty, realistic drama.
I don't know about anyone else, but I was reminded of the film The Green Mile, when a similar thing happened, in that I thought I was in for something tough and real, but then the guy magics a mouse back to life and the whole plot changes (still love the film but it was a shock that wasn't particularly enjoyed).
I'm also not sure the 'mini series' has found its place in terms of pacing just yet - the third episode, literally nothing happens. My partner encourages me that it's just character development, but it doesn't quite rub off on me. Literally nothing that didn't already happen in episode 2 happens in episode 3, which to me is more of an issue with pacing.
Either way - it's certainly not bad, and if you're after something to kill some time, give it a go - maybe you'll be less disappointed, having read this review, that it's not realistic.
I'd also like to just round off that I'm chuffed that it's a British production with a black, female lead that I'd certainly like to see more of in future.

Amazing story, unbelievable ending, keeps you guessing!
jkt200626 February 2021
Saw a series after a long time which kept me guessing until the last episode. It's drama, thriller and towards the end, well you have to watch it! The twist is just unimaginable even until the second last episode and blows you away. The performances by all actors are brilliant. Yes, the number of dream sequences could be somewhat less as they tend to be repetitive but it works and you understand as to why towards the last episode. The story and the finale kept me thinking for hours. Definitely recommended if you are into thrillers!
Plot twist. It's ridiculous.
donttouchmeprimate28 February 2021
I sat and watched the ENTIRE series in one day and OH MY DAYS did I laugh when it happened. When it happens then you'll know what I mean and you'll be left asking yourself 'wait... What?!'
My advice is to watch it just for the laughably bad ending.

It's a dark series. NO - it makes no logical sense because it is entertainment!
I just went along for the ride and didn't try to figure anything out - but I never do. It's called "entertainment" for a reason. So entertain me. Otherwise it's called "class". Seriously, I do not watch things on TV to figure them out ahead of time so prove to everyone how smart I am. I don't have to. I know how smart I am, so entertain me and surprise me here and there, please! And this one did!
There were some rough edges, but that's okay. At the end they were explained.
It's different!! Enjoy!!

It's got that formula feel to it with most "mysteries", and it's slow. One of the main characters the Doctor, well I never really warmed up to him. The story twists & turns, it's simple and not overly complicated. Disappointed in the story, not the performances.
Binge worthy drama, brilliant.
Sleepin_Dragon20 February 2021
This has been the first drama series of 2021 that I have wanted to binge watch all in one. This is a terrific six part series, that retains its pace, tension and drama throughout, there is no dip. The twists and turns will have you gripped, the acting will captivate you.
It starts with a great first episode, everything settles almost immediately, and it's not long before the drama takes hold of you.
I can't pick a standout, the acting from each of the main players is superb.
It's beautifully edited, the camera work is terrific, it looks amazing.
One of those series, that I wish I'd kept for an upcoming week off work, as opposed to binge watching it all on a Saturday morning.
It's a wonderful series. 9/10.

A Good Series

I watched the trailer for Behind Her Eyes and I was pretty interested, this show is based on the book of the same name that came out a few years ago and I have watched the show and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a woman start an affair with her boss while becoming close friends with her wife.
Main Character Simona Brown plays the lead here and I thought she was a really good lead character or the show. In a show that is pretty crazy it is nice to see a character at least for the first few episodes seems normal and your everyday person going through struggles like normal people. Obviously, the show doesn't stay like that and she does a good job in the dramatic scenes and helps in really building the tension.
Supporting Characters Eve Hewson plays Adele and I thought she was the best part of the show, she just gives such a magnetic and complicated performance that easily makes her the most interesting character here and the one that keeps you on your toes in every episode that you see her. Tom Bateman plays David and he is probably the most generic of the characters but I still think he gives a good performance and fills his role well, just like the other two characters he changes and progresses as the show goes on and it is well done. The only other character really is played by Robert Aramayo who plays Robert, he is involved in a story with Adele and it adds layers and depth to the show.
Story When I describe the plot up the top you probably think this is a pretty paint by numbers story but that couldn't be further from the truth. This show hits a few different genres and I don't really want to talk about it too much as I went into every episode not expecting what comes next and the show really deserves credit for that. But there are some things that don't work here and are underdeveloped and it feels like they are just rushed over and not really explained well enough. Now onto what everyone is talking about and that is the ending, when the book came out everybody said the ending was a crazy twist and the show does not disappoint in that way. I feel like some people will like it and some will hate it, for me I credit the bravery for it but I think it just overreached to far.
Script The script is okay, there are some good dramatic moments and the intensity does get raised to pretty uncomfortable levels and it does it well enough. But there is some cheesy dialogue and moments that don't work and really drag it down, plus some of the writing seems confused and like they have to fit a lot into this show.
Style The show looks good, it has a decent look and does keep you wanting to watch more for sure. It has a binge able feel about it and it does a good job of keeping you invested enough to keep you watching. But this show does have a bit of a pacing issue, it doesn't really sink its claws till the 2nd or 3rd episode and by then some people may not be patient enough for it.
Overall Overall, this is a good show that is a pretty easy and interesting watch. I would recommend this to people who like psychological thrillers who can accept the unbelievable parts as it has decent moments but maybe others can take a skip.
Rating - 7/10.

6 Stars only for Eve Hewson
MovieGeek9819 February 2021
Psychological turned into magical?
And the ending was left unfinished. Sure the plot twist was amazing but that's the end of it.
The last episodes leaves a bunch of questions in my head about why the police never investigated anything? SO MANY QUESTIONS. Lost the count.
The last episode was seriously very rushed. That destroyed all the good things I liked about this show. And I know the questions will remain unanswered because it was a limited series.
But only giving it six stars for the actress who played Adele. She carried the show on her shoulders, simple as that.

Dark Thriller
Pairic19 February 2021
Behind Her Eyes: A dark psychological thriller series which segues into horror so smoothly that you hardly notice it happening/ The plot at first seems a bit too hackneyed - a psychiatrist's secretary, Louise, has an affair with her employer, David, and becomes best friends with his wife, Adele, at the same time. But there's a lot more going on than meets the eye, Adele's parents had died in fire which David had rescued her from. There is also a mystery as to why David and Adele had to move from Brighton and Louise suffers from night terrors and sleepwalking. The horror is mostly psychological but some really disturbing events occur on screen. There is also a paranormal touch to the events which cannot be revealed without giving too much away. Plus you get a couple of plot twists which will made me gasp but were convincing. Directed by Erik Richter Strand and written by Steve Lightfoot. On Netflix. 8/10.
Season 2 needed!
H78617 January 2022
Constantly had me switching my doubt between Adele and David. But I definitely was not expecting that ending! One of the best endings to a season (and potentially a series, if there's no season 2).
Although there wasn't much going on in the first 4 episodes, the storyline managed to (just about) keep me interested. The story picks up in episode 5 and leaves you lost for words in episode 6! The writers did well to mix supernatural fiction with real life.
Episode 1-4: 6/10 Episode 5: 8/10 Episode 6: 10/10

Brilliant story, although very slow paced
bluepink20 February 2021
The storyline is brilliant and the ending is executed perfectly. I really like the cast & the characters felt realistic.
However, all of the episodes are VERY slow paced - a bit too slow for my liking. I also didn't like the fact that around the halfway mark it started to get supernatural & they really should have put something about that in the genre section or blurb as some people do not like to watch that type of thing. Overall, if you're okay with those type of things then you may be okay watching it.

3/4 of "10 star" reviews are from single use accounts. There are real problems with this substandard show
random-707786 March 2021
Firstly there is a lot of upshilling of the reviews, and undoubtable the ratings of this film. A LOT of repeat phrasing on multiple reviews, and a lot of accounts whose only review, is a glowing is of this show.
Secondly this show suffers from very poor narrative structure, a deux ex "surprise" that is both telegraphed and comes off as a cheap trope. It is a cringeworthy resolution.
Thirdly the acting in this is awful. I mean you feel pity for the performers. The actress who plays the wife is just talentless. I was trying to figure out how she could get any part, and a quick look showed she is Bono's daughter. It reminds me of a Ricky Gervais "Extra's" scene where he and a friend are wondering how one of Jagger's kids got an acting gig. Hmm....
Again without a spoiler, if you want to be exposed to cheap narrative tricks that show the writers assume you are an idiot, do give this a watch, If not, skip this dreck
