Christian Propaganda
It wasn't as abysmal as another review that was written about it suggests. Casting was ok, acting was mediocre but the storyline was saturated with god squad BS. There is a twist at the end which completely negates the whole storyline. The other bad review was correct in assuming that the first two reviews were probably family members. I watched it until the end so it wasn't below 4 stars.

Money, Bad!

Warning: Spoilers
I got the whole point but the story was just off. It left you with more questions then before. Like, why did the go back in time once and not twice? Or what happened to his g/f's father that he should be absolved for? If they just wanted to tell a story, fine, but at least make it a believable one. This was a Christian movie yes, but also a family movie. So if you have kids or enjoy Christian movies then this will be great for you. For me this is a hard pass.

Don´t be fooled

Once again two positive reviews that most likely comes from family or friends and have no real connection to the movie. Casting and story is just soo bad. Sad to see you can´t depend on these kind of reviews :(

UNEXPECTED ENDING....
jsamuelcom19 June 2021
It's very rare that I can't predict the end of a movie. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I started watching it, telling myself I would give it a few minutes...1 hour and forty something minutes later I reached the end of this very good movie. It was a GREAT movie and God spoke to me through it. Watched it again the next night with my wife and kids, my 7 year old daughter absolutely loved it, but so did my wife and the other kids. I highly recommend this movie!!!

Come for the bad acting, stay for the story.

Yes, the acting is quite bad. I was laughing my way through the first, but then something happened. Between Brett Varvel's sharp direction, and the sweet heart of the story, you begin to really enjoy it. And the last few twists in the story are really fun!

Good movie, ignore the hater reviews
connerrd19 March 2022
I saw a couple angry reviews, which I don't really understand. So I will preface this by saying that I am not related to, or friends with anyone connected to this film.

This movie has a great underlying message. The movie is funny and it kept my attention. It is a family-friendly movie and it doesn't take the Lord's name in vain, so that's great!

Essentially, the main character gets his hand on a winning lottery ticket, but unfortunately he lets money change his outlook on life.

Surprisingly Well Done

I know that even the best movie ever will not satisfy everyone.... And I usually do not have time to rate and review movies but I have to say that this movie pleasantly surprised me. When my husband suggested the movie for a Friday Night Family Movie, I had very low expectations. But, the characters and the movie pulled me in the entire time...I will also admit I tend to like movies that others may consider cheesy but I watch them for the takeaway message(s) ! "Treasure Lies" was sobering, edifying and comforting as forgiveness, integrity, deliverance from avarice, and unconditional love themes provided lesson templates to reflect upon long after the movie ended. Great Work! I look forward to more material in the future!

We really liked it!

We rented "Treasure Lies" on Vimeo. I watched it with my wife and youngest son (who is 19) and it kept all of us very engaged. My wife and son kept essentially yelling at the screen trying to tell the characters what to do as they got themselves in and out of awkward situations. The twists and turns of the story were great, a few of them predictable and many of them totally unpredictable. It has a very good biblical/moral lesson that does not feel forced and fits in right with the theme of "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." It was also very well cast and acted too so the directing was also very good. I would highly recommend it.

Awesome teaching movie

Warning: Spoilers
Disgusted by brynnpstevens-68557 reviews" god squad" and spelt GOD in lower case Christian propaganda as review was titled, the movie was beautiful and had many points in it that reminds you hoe JESUS THE CHRIST intended us to behave,brynnpstevens-68557 should go find a voodoo hoodoo witchcraft satanic horror movie, the movie was very awesome especially if you have love in your heart, although I never understood the end I k own the ticket was a winner but never said how much and I know it showed newspaper in store where nobody had claimed winning ticket, yet when he turned it in and the greedy lawyer ran to computer to look it up it was only worth ten dollars?

engaging, thought-provoking with humor & surprise twist
bill-8163631 December 2023
I expected a halfway decent, clean comedy but was pleasantly surprised at how well done this movie really was.

The movie takes a light-hearted look at a subject that nearly all of our lives involve and some of our lives revolve around - money. The way it does so though is superb.

Really enjoyed the acting and thought the leads playing the teen roles conveyed all of the awkwardness of teen years very well. Great blend of enthusiasm, blunders, etc. The movie tiptoed into teenage roll-the-eyes humor, but it wasn't overdone, was clean and our laughter was genuine. One or two periphery characters seemed a tad exaggerated until I considered some real life people I know in such circumstances and considered that they really weren't too over-the-top after all.

It is very rare to find a movie that takes a light, humorous approach but manages to do so while maintaining a solid base and thought-provoking message. It is even rarer to find a movie with a surprise twist that you don't see coming. I generally do not re-watch movies but put this on my list to re-watch and enjoyed it just as much the second go-round.

I watched with all adults and we thoroughly enjoyed it. For parents hyper concerned about violent acts and screening for same, there is a single scene with a punch thrown but in no way glorifies violence. Very positive messages throughout. I think it would be perfect to watch with kids/teens.
