New Season: enjoyable start
dami300110 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's good to see our dear characters again. The episode is very enjoyable. And it has a special tension between Lena and Kara. The resolution of that conflict is emotional. But the sequels will continue throughout the season.

Why does she still want to...?
kimeho7 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Why does Lena still want to harm Kara after she told her the truth? Can she really not understand, I mean Supergirl did explain herself clearly so it just leaves me confused.

itsy bitsy teeny weeny completely superficial hangup
Babyhuey19788 October 2019
Love the show, enjoyed the first episode of the season. The only complaint that I have is completely superficial. The only complaint that I have is about Melissa Benoist's hair. It is my personal opinion that no one over the age of 12 should have bangs. I am not sure how I feel about the new outfit either. There is just too much blue. Maybe if they make her pants red? Other than this and the one itsy bitsy teeny weeny completely superficial hangup about grown women having bangs, I really enjoy this show and am looking forward to watching the rest of season 5.

Everything I wanted and actually got
sunset-917 October 2019
One of the best episodes ever! The angst between SuperCorp, cute Dansen scenes, Brainy rocks, Nia is a good gf, J'onn has his own arc leading to Crossover, James chao, don't come back, and new faces have potential. Everything was in balance. And Lena and Kara, the actresses did the great job, I had to watch twice some of their scenes - that's how imprssed I got.I feel like that's going to be the best season of the show.

A good start.
cruise0117 October 2019
3.5 out of 5 stars.

The season begins right after the last. Lena plot to destroy Kara and her supergirl reputation. After she kept it as a secret. There is some hidden agenda with Lena. The episode is fun with the characters. Kara struggling with telling Lena. Lena selling her company. While a villain called Midnight is back for revenge with Jonn. Entertaining action, cheesy humor, and a decent fun story.

One of the BEST
ekohnkohn7 October 2019
This episode was probably one of my favorites!! The tension with Kara and Lena was fantastic as always, Kelly and Alex make a cute couple (although I hope we see a little more development with them), Brainy and Nia are adorably awkward, and I'm excited to see where J'onn's storyline leads!

PANTS!
Anonnamus4 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
All 6 stars are due to the fact that Supergirl now wears pants. I love the new costume and how it has evolved along with Kara. Also, Benoist can pull off bangs which is no easy feat. That's where my enjoyment ended.

  • Did Lena get a contact Haraun-El high? Did Lex's soul enter her body after she shot him? For the first four seasons she was a loving, trusting, kind, and generous friend who wanted to distance herself from her last name and become someone who is known for something other than evil. Here comes season 5 when she suddenly does a 180 and channels her inner Lex Luthor and vows to take down Kara for betraying her. Sweet baby Jesus she kept a secret from you, she didn't sleep with your husband. Granted, it was a huge secret, but surely you can understand why it was a secret to begin with. I don't like that they're trying to make Lena exactly like Lex. We had Smallville already, and that was a much better show.

  • Shut up, Kara. The world does not revolve around you and your opinions and no, if someone disagrees with you that doesn't mean they're wrong. Also, you should have sucked it up and told Lena a long long time ago. I mean, every other person you hang out with knows. Not your best friend?

  • I love that a reporter who has exactly 37 minutes of experience has won a Pulitzer. It must be easier than I thought it would be. Suspension of disbelief, though. I can do it.

  • I love love love Julie Gonzalo so I'm excited that apparently she will be a regular, but the creepy-eyed British dude looks like he got lost and accidentally wandered off from the GQ photo shoot he was in. He already annoys me.

  • Who is that lady Alex is with and why is she still there? What purpose does she hold? Isn't she a shrink? Who now works for a tech company or something?

  • James Olsen was not annoying for the first time since the first episode. My problem was always with his lack of chemistry with literally every other character on the show. I always felt he kept a part of himself back from everyone and that he never quite fit in.

  • I love David Harewood and hurt for him and the direction the writers have taken his character the last two seasons. It's like the writers love the actor but don't know what to do with his character, so they quickly whipped up a half-ass storyline and told the actor to have at it. They have zero idea what to do with the Martian Manhunter and it shows. Please. Take him away from the whiny, squinty, yelly, I WILL STOP YOU character you have turned him into.

There were definitely some positives, however. I love Brainy and Nia. What I like the most about Nia is that they finally have a strong female lead that isn't overly aggressive and assertive to try to cover the fact that she's female in a male-dominated world. She is relatable and an amazing addition to the cast, not to mention she has the coolest powers of all the characters combined. I like the new look, but I don't like the tone this season seems to be heading towards.

Fantastic Start

Warning: Spoilers
All those emotionally charged scenes between Kara and Lena were incredible-- probably the best acting I've ever seen on The CW. I'm excited for what comes next. Really rooting for Lena to truly forgive Kara, and perhaps move into the romance that the show keeps alluding to.

While overall I enjoy the show some of the story lines are just plain stupid.

This season five in particular it's the lame, lazy plot line we all knew was coming.......poor poor weak minded Lena (note the sarcasm) is so feeble minded that not knowing Kara's secret and finding out about it later on makes her mind crack and she becomes evilly deluded in the usual Luthor fashion..I mean common give us a break an this old plot device, it's old tired and far overused.

Meh 4 stars just cause this is soooo lame.

Everything was perfectly crafted, so well done, the narrative, the action scenes, the dynamic, the reveal was perfect, the speech was perfect. The focus on the relationships that truly matters. Congratulations! It was one of the show's masterpieces.

I'm absolutely obsessed with how fantastic this episode was! The drama between Kara and Lena has my heart beating so fast. It was interesting to see all those romantic undertones, and then Lena's reveal at the end OH RAO. I loved it and can't wait to see more!

Warning: Spoilers
Finally 0 politics or lesbian promotions more actions, more emotional moments and finally Kara is doing sth strong and also finally strong villains. Ok maybe this Black Hole shattering was a little ridicolous, but finally show is as should be. Also hyped for J'onn J'onzz solo story

THE way to kick off the new season! Diving straight into the conversation. We've been waiting for since season two. Can't wait to watch their story progress but really hope Lena comes back around soon. I love the relationship between Kara and Lena and it would be a shame to turn them into yet another Lex and Clark...that story has been told one too many times. Time to let the ladies show them how it's done and come together!

Where's the logic?
ubtman8 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Subpar episode with the overacting from Benoist. What grinded my gears was as soon as Brainy gives Kara her new suit, he tells her to be careful when she takes off her glasses because her suit will materialize. Two seconds later, she takes off her glasses to show Lena she's supergirl! So wouldn't the suit materialize?

What is wrong with not telling someone things that don't directly affect them, and to some extent are really none of their business?
bearcatjb21 October 2019
Wow, Kara didn't tell Lena she is Supergirl! Big Whoop!

In keeping secrets we are not doing anything wrong. As human-beings we are entitled to our secrets and our own private thoughts, and are entitled to keep them to ourselves. And we are entitled to reveal such secrets if we so choose, to whomever we choose, and to what extent we choose. And I think this is normal.

What is abnormal is what this first episode pushes us to believe: keeping of secrets is abnormal, and once someone finds out you dared to keep them, they are entitled to be angry and spiteful towards you, even after the keeping of said secret had no real ill effect on them at all.

When someone finally comes out of the closet, for example, after years of keeping it secret, you don't just say, "I feel hurt that you never told me before now", then swear revenge.

So wow, Kara didn't tell Lena she is Supergirl! Big Whoop!

Lena, get over yourself, not knowing Kara is also Supergirl had no direct bearing on your life or your happiness. And writers, producers you do so too; you are making mountains out of molehills. And just creating artificial, forced drama.

A lot of nonsense
theactress0029 October 2019
This episode was very confusing. It felt like an episode was missing. The characters had very irrational attitudes and behaviors. It was an irritating episode. It was one of my least enjoyable episodes.

Dumb
emonne17 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Lena comes off like a crybaby, and supergirl comes off as a scared child. At least Kara overcame her fear, Lena still sounds like a crybaby. I hope they fix this fast or this annoyance will force me to cut "supergirl" from my arrowverse watchings.

Dissapointed
tbear149517 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Having been a superfan since the first episode I had normally high expectations for this season and was sadly disappointed. Both my wife and I have seen every episode and while all of them aren't 10/10, overall they're very good. Not so much with this one. The story was lame, the new suit so horrible it's distracting, and Karas reveal to Lena ended up a dud. Absolutely not ready to toss the towel on the show but I hope this isn't the episode that Supergirl "jumped the shark".

Character actions don't make any rational sense!
korpake5 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I like the show, but this is just getting stupid.

Oh no! Someone kept a secret! Now I must become evil and learn to be a robot and suppress my emotions until they explode out at a later date!

Father gives company to daughter and she goes and suddenly buys a billion dollar money-losing news company as if she doesn't have enough stuff to do.

Billion dollar news company and building sold without a single top journalist realising. It's like office gossip doesn't even exist in this part of the world.

Employment contracts that auto-renew without warning.

Likely unenforceable non-compete clauses that can somehow magically apply globally and no top journalist realises it.

Quits job when you could just coast along and collect a paycheck from stupid new owner.

"Don't take glasses off because suit will appear" Minutes later, takes glasses off and nothing happens.

Superman's real spaceship just sitting around in a museum that non-kryptonian can fly away with.

São Paulo doesn't even have a beach.

The list goes on...

It's hard to write intelligent characters when the writers are obviously stupid.

1 star for new suit 1 star for new evil AI called Hope LOL 1 star for Brainy and Nia 1 star for T-Rex
