A Great Second Series Episode
lsgmustache31 March 2021
The second episode of the Invincible series is about Mark making new friends and learning how to encounter/fight unearthly threats. The new characters are really fun and engaging and I already like them quite a bit although I wish we could've seen a bit more of Duplicate and Rex. I also thought the action and human stuff was well balanced and it all was entertaining. Also the complaint about last episodes music are completely gone as you don't get any generic songs in here. Every song fit well for the scene and never felt out of the place. The pacing issue still stands but just as last time it doesn't break the episode for me. Overall this is an episode that has good characters and good arcs for all of them.

More World-Building
Gislef13 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
'Invincible' starts to hit its stride, but like most series (and the stuff going out to critics), it spends most of its first three episode introducing the world and the characters. I.e., "world-building". Which is great, but if someone is going to put out 8-episode mini-series, they have to learn to speed up the standard plotting as well. What works in a 18+ episode first season doesn't necessarily work in an 8-episode series.

So most of episode 2 is pretty standard, rather than the fast-paced storytelling we'd expect from an 8-episode first season. The Marvel shows on Netflix had a similar problem. We're watching because we know it's going to be a "short" first/introductory season. But the writers haven't bought into the concept, and are still writing "slow" as if they have 18+ episodes to play around with instead of8-13.

This episode is all about Mark stepping up as Invincible with Omni-Man down. He takes on the Flaxans sole and then with the Teen Team. I'm still not clear what his powers are or what their top level is. Mark inherited powers from Omni-Man, but he seems like a weak copy of him. The Flaxans walks all over him. Sure, some of it is because he's an inexperienced hero. But it seems like an inexperienced Superman clone should still do better.

The voice work is still good, and the plotting is good if a bit slow. The end sequence, with Omni-Man wiping out the Flaxan home planet, is great in a fascinating sort of way. We get some of Superman cutting loose on 'Superman & Lois', as Dark Superman (tastefully, off-screen) incinerates the alternate Lois. No such off-screen slaughter here. Thanks to it being animated and Amazon, Omni-Man and the creative team revel in showing what a Superman-level being could do to a planet when cutting loose.

We get more of Omni-Man's casual approach to superheroing, and the fact that he's not quite human. He returns home from slaughtering the Flaxans, and tells his unwitting family that he wants a shower.

We also get Cecil, who seems okay to me. Yeah, he sends mixed messages on his morality. But so does Nick Fury, who Cecil seems based on.

Overall, the episode is okay. At least the Flaxans (and the Leader) evolve, which helps break up the 1-2-3 of their invasion pattern. Otherwise it would get pretty tedious.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

This series continues to deliver
Brettyboy00727 March 2021
Ep 2 is just as good as ep 1. We get introduced to the Teen Team and the Flaxons. The Teen Team looks and sounds exactly as I pictured them from the comic. I loved the little Walking Dead easter egg in this episode. Robert Kirkman and Amazon are just killing it with this. Damien Darkblood is a new character so I'm interested in where his story goes.

Seriously, get into Invincible.

S1E02-New characters, worldbuilding etc.
ScourgeOfImdb16 November 2023
This episode introduces us to some new characters which will be important for the show.

Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Robot and others. The character dynamic between Mark and Eve is great and I'm looking forward to see where they go with that plot line. Also, being a massive community fan, It's a pleasant surprise to see Gillian Jacobs as Eve, which improved my enjoyment of the episode.

The omni-man plotline has me extremely interested in why he killed the guardians and as the tension builds over the season, my intrigue will only continue to grow.

This episode overall isn't as strong as the first but still carries on the key plot lines and establishes new ones so it gets an 8.5 from me.

Getting a little backward to take a Jump
AdityaDev00731 March 2021
As now I am writing this review the First 3 Episode have been released and after watching them all together I am giving the review.

This episode was for sake of Introducing some new characters who can resemble as the young generation of Superheroes as they are already ripping other Superheroes from different publications like DC, Marvel, Dark Horse Comics. You are gonna get some good ripoffs of Superhero Characters if you are already more into Superhero genre.

Solid follow-up
Trey_Trebuchet1 March 2022
I loved the comics and I'm very relieved to see the show has so far captured the tone really well. This really feels and looks like the comics so far. Again, making the show animated and not live-action really helps out with that.

Kudos to the writers for taking their time with the story too. Kirkman's first run in the comics was great, but everything feels a bit more fleshed out in this and not as rushed. I enjoyed meeting the Teen Team and I'm particularly excited to see more Atom-Eve, who was a favorite of mine in the graphic novels. I'm starting to really like Mark as well. I've got a feeling I'll grow to love him as much as I did in he original source material.

Good stuff. Can't wait to watch more.

Fun and brutal
ossie857 April 2023
Invincible's "Here Goes Nothing" episode is a well-crafted continuation of the season's story arc. The episode showcases the aftermaths of the previous episode's shocking twist and does not shy away from portraying the dark realities of the superhero world. However, the show still manages to maintain its fun, superhero elements, making it a must-watch for comic book fans. I would give this episode a solid 8 out of 10.

The episode picks up right where the last one left off, after Omni-Man brutally murdered the Guardians of the Globe. The episode continues to explore the fallout from this incident. Meanwhile, the show delves deeper into the conspiracy and politics surrounding the superhero world.

The show maintains its intensity while still managing to be a fun superhero TV show. Certain elements provide a needed relief from the sometimes-gruesome tension that the episode's build-up creates. The use of humor and playful elements helps to break the tension and does not feel out of place.

The highlight of the episode is the voice acting, which is fantastic. The performances and delivery provide much-needed depth to the characters and add to the tension and excitement of the show.

Overall, "Here Goes Nothing" is a fantastic continuation of Invincible's intense and thrilling season. The episode doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of the superhero genre while still managing to be a fun and enjoyable watch. It's highly recommended to fans of the show and general comic book fans alike.

Really Really Enjoyed This Episode
panagiotis199319 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for Invincible Season 1 Episode 2: So after all the heroes are dead and Omniman is injured, Mark has to protect people from an invasion, which is a really cool idea plus we get to see some new heroes which is nice. I wonder if Omniman is really badly injured or he is maybe pretending? To appear as a victim too, probably not. This red character, the detective gives me strong hellboy vibes. Mark and Eve have really good chemistry. I wonder if Mark will become a member of their team or if he will continue solo. Eve has a boyfriend? I didn't expect it. Yup Mark is now part of the team and I like that, I want to see the chemistry he will have with his team members.

Marks best friend seems to be the comic relief type role. These aliens are not kidding. The robot character is the coolest from this team. I wonder if he is fully robotic AI or if there is something human in him. And just like that Omniman is well and back. I wonder what Mark's reaction will be when he realizes that his father is a monster. Rex Splode is so annoying, I hope the aliens will kill him, I already hate this character. Damn it took Omniman less than a minute to make the aliens leave the planet. Omniman obliterated their planet in no time, he didn't have to do that since not all of them were soldiers, some were ordinary citizens of that planet but I guess this happens so we can understand Omniman's brutality. Ok so that's it. I really really enjoyed this episode, my rating is 8.2/10.

Warning: Spoilers
The show just gets better and better. Despite this episode being a bit more slower than the first, it still leaves an impact. It continues too introduce interesting characters and interesting story lines. I thought Cecil instantly became one off the most interesting characters so far, Robot and Atom-Eve where both interesting as where the rest off the Teen Team. Allen the Alien was very very cool too see and his and Invincible fight was very good. The obvious best part however is that closing scene, the fact that Omni-Man took out an entire civilisation on his own just shows his presence and danger and easily sets him up too be one off the best comic-book villains. The ending too this show just makes me more and more excited for the next episodes too come and just makes me want too learn more about these characters.
