The document things angle is wearing a bit thin obviously, I'm not the only one feeling that, but I did quite like the tone of this episode. They've attempted to do these 'clever re-framing' of an episode before and much more disastrously than this one. It was gimmicky and we all know it, and don't really need or want it in our story telling. It didn't really help.
But putting that aside for a moment the central story of the woman and son in a mine field surrounded house was a good one, and the explosions were well executed. That would have been a good story to tell in any framing, even the standard one. It felt like there was something underneath it too. I don't think they quite got there with any 'aaahhh' insight but it was going in the right direction instead of being nonsensical which is where this show has often been.
The characters were acting human and not too stupid, (apart from morgan running into a live mine field).
And we've got some baddie action. They're making more enemies than friends. That was an interesting observation.
No clarity on the deal with the oil fields thing but this does look like a worthy and believable angle to take on.
It could have been way worse, and it has been. I know my standards and expectations have dropped a lot since I started watching this show, but John Dorie's scenes were fun, as they always are, and I was surprised that a few the other characters managed to deliver something that didn't make me cringe.
It wasn't that bad once you get past the clever doco technique thing which nobody really wanted or liked except the writer and director who forced it through.

This episode was really boring ,Just a bunch of interviews. I don't like See this kind of movies which on that many people talk and nothing happens . Charlie is really annoys me. I hate kids who interfere with adults affairs. My favorite kid is Dylon because unlike Charlie he doesn't try to impress others with imitating their behavior like a monkey.

This wasn't a perfect episode but ain't bad either, it had some serious Diary of the Dead feels and I loved that movie, Dan Liu who was the director of the episode and the crew behind the cameras did a good job at capturing the camera point of view. The story telling for this episode made us go deeper into the characters thoughts and mind, it was the highlight of the episode. There were also some great acting from all the main characters.
The ending was perfect, having a character driven episode end in a way that makes us want more as it introduced a new character and also showing more of the villain group we saw in the first half and heard from S4, the showrunners have done a great job at building up the tension and the world building around this trucker duo, I can't wait for the rest of the episodes.

I'm twenty minutes in and I am actually enjoying this episode. I have been so disappointed in this season, storylines, writing, acting all terrible. I'm finding this episode a welcome relief. Based on reviews, I expected to hate it and nearly didn't even watch it. It's different and kind of interesting. Please God this can be a turning point to a once terrific show.

This is not a 10/10 but it isn't a 5/10
This episode captures moments that aren't usually seen in both versions of The Walking Dead. A real insight into what the group is trying to accomplish. Real character development without the over dramatic lines.
Give this episode a chance please before you bash it for no reason.

Just when I thought this show couldn't get any worse, they release this episode. Nothing of importance happened at all, and this was supposed to be the midseason premiere! It was just filled with boring dialogue about stuff we've heard about so many times in the past. These showrunners are ruining this show, GET RID!

What a wonderful episode. It's like watching an episode of the office with all the 4th wall breaking interviews except you have a horde of zombies stepping on landmines.
A completely underrated episode.

Why does everyone seem to be so hellbent on action packed episodes? I loved this one even though it is aimed at what drives the characters.
This series is so much better than most stuff on tv... And much better than it is given credit for!

Oh creator please! is this a boring documentary or what? too much interviews on camera the whole time! I swear I was angry for wasting my time in watching this crap the whole episode! Please, don't punish us for watching next time!

Short disjointed documentation style. It was boring with no plot or charcter development. No tension. I did not care about what the characters were doing.

I wish we could go back to that Season 3 finale and continue the story with Dave Erickson. Too bad it would never happen. This show has become a total disaster since Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss took over, that's what you got for hiring stupid writers from a fairy tale series like Once Upon A Time to run your show.
I cringed at every single line of the characters since this whole nonsense "Take what you need, leave what you don't" storyline. It went from a thrilling Season 3 to a boring, unrealistic, uncreative show. You can't just help people, giving supplies without getting to know them, despite all the risks, even ignoring your own lives!
And even the villains are a bunch of idiots. They just waste a bunch of bullets just to destroy a fricking motorbike??? Omg I thought last season Martha was the worst villain I've ever since in this universe, but now Logan can top that, cause he's such an interesting character right?
Heard that they had renewed this show for a sixth season, and i hope it will be the last too. The only way you can save this show is fire those terrible pair of showrunner before it's too late.

I almost never review episodes but the ammount of hate this show is getting is ridiculous. I think people just wanna b*tch about something.
This episode was really cool & very interesting. It used a really good twist on the formula, one that i enjoyed, by showing us most the episode thru Althea's tapes. (and the rest of the crew now)
I always thought Althea was one of the better charcters and i would think that what shes been trying to do would be a good idea and something that should be done if this was real life, so the fact that the show progressed her agenda furter i think is great.
The only problem with this episode i think, is that it was NOT an exciting episode. There was only one bit of action/intensity in the episode but it was dulled because it was shown in a flashback/recording so we know how it turns out.
Overall i just wish people would lower their rediculously high bar of what THEY think this show should be, instead of what the show has always been

I was not expecting this type of episode for a series that is about Zombie apocalypse. Wtf FTWD has gone over the cliff and it looks like no one will save it.
Just plain, boring, crappy episode.
What's next? A mucial episode???
If TWD got better last season than this show is just going down. Needs a new show runner. And for the sake of zombie apocalypse bring back the zombies!!!

I see it ticked off the diehards that just tune in for the gratuitous big scenes, that often involve stupid moves by the characters to set up the big pay off. People actually did smart things, and because they did they didn't get overwhelmed and have to fight their way out of trouble that they brought on themselves.
People actually pointed out noise would be drawing in more walkers!
I've pointed out several times it would be nice to see them use their experience with what attracts walkers more effectively. Like for instance gathering alarm clocks and using them to confuse walkers away. I saw in the upcoming preview they do use this type of method.
In a previous episode all one person had to do was turn the volume up and drop the device and he could have walked away, but instead he continued to carry it which of course led to the big scene where he needed saving.
They don't have to roam around like clueless idiots each episode to get to the big scene. They should do more proactive things.

Every so often, FTWD puts out an episode where you wonder if the producers are hoping that every viewer will turn it off midway and never watch another show, ever again.
This is one such episode.

A new all time low for this horrible series. The entire first half is Blair Witch shaky cam BS that will drive you nuts and put you to sleep.
My suggestion is to FF till there is only 35 minutes left. Does it get better? Marginally. But at least they are not doing those stoopid first person interviews -- until the end.
Please cancel this show!

One of my favourites, I really loved how this was filmed, I feel like we got to know all the characters a lot better and Logan seems to be a strong force to reckon with.
