Geena Davis‘ potential TV comeback has been thwarted.
The Oscar winner — who was set to star opposite Skylar Astin in CBS’ untitled legal drama pilot from writer/EP Scott Prendergast — has abruptly left the project. According to Deadline, Davis’ departure occurred after production on the pilot had already begun. It remains unclear what led to her abrupt exit.

Mizuki, the desperately unhappy Tokyo housewife at the center of Fault Lines by Emily Itami (out Sept. 7), can't figure out when she became so invisible. Once a vivacious young woman who sang in cabaret bars, she now struggles to meet the standard of motherly perfection and subtle elegance expected of Tokyo's housewives.
"If it gets so good you only need to catch their eye to know what they're thinking, you are, it is blindingly clear, totally screwed."
It doesn't help that her husband, Tatsu, all but forgets she exists. If she thinks back to the early days of their 16-year relationship, she can recall the straightforward and energetic man he once was - that is, before Tokyo's grueling office culture ground down any spark left in him. Films by writer-directors Rose Glass, Sarah Gavron, Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell earned the most nominations for the 41st London Critics‘ Circle Film Awards, which will be presented virtually in early February. Scroll down for full list of nominees.
Glass’ dramatic horror Saint Maud was out front with eight nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress (Morfydd Clark) and Supporting Actress (Jennifer Ehle). In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year, and Clark is nominated for British/Irish Actress, a body-of-work award that includes her appearance in Eternal Beauty.
Other leading contenders include Sarah Gavron’s London coming-of-age story Rocks with six nominations, Chloé Zhao’s improvised American road movie Nomadland with five, and Emerald Fennell’s provocative blackly comical thriller Promising Young Woman with four.
