This episode was so good I'm writing this review about a minute after I finished watching it. The premise: Sonny is trapped in a torpedo tube on a submarine and he's running out of time. The writers set things up brilliantly this season by having us fall for this character and then putting him in mortal danger here. This was BY FAR the best hour (okay, 42 minutes) of television I've seen in years, completely to my surprise. It evoked the best war movies - and submarine movies - of the past, yet felt completely **authentic and in line with the characters and storylines of this show. Absolutely wonderful, totally nail-biting, and if this isn't nominated for something it's a crime. Kudos to whoever came up with the story and script!
**Reading some of the other reviews, it seems that it may not be _technically_ authentic. However, I have to rate it based on what I felt as I watched it, and - not having served on a submarine myself! - I was completely drawn in. (This is a drama, not a documentary, after all.) I'm a research scientist working on Mars's atmosphere, so I could make the same complaint about "The Martian" (the air isn't dense enough to blow anyone over, even during a big dust storm!) so I absolutely understand the complaints. HOWEVER, even if it takes some liberties, I still really loved this episode!
