What are "they" here for?
ninjaboyballer24 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a really good one. It's for me on the same level as the premiere. The thing I loved most about this episode was the back and forth between Victor and Daniel. They make this episode worth watching just like they did in 5x02. Sarah, Wendell and Charlie are also thrown into the mix and make it better. Those 5 were the ones who carried the episode. Although I did really like the stuff with Morgan and Alicia trying to track down the CRM people. And they end up running into a Lord of the Flies type of group with kids in it. Turns out the kids who are all there are the kids of the people who Logan leads(I think), who were shown back in 5x01. I got really excited when I saw the helicopter and can't wait to know what that CRM solider does with Althea. I will complain though that I wish Dwight was in this episode and the Dylan and Luciana stuff was kinda boring throughout the sprinkles of screen time they get.

In conclusion, this episode was another solid episode with good dialogue, good character moments, and a sort of setup for the CRM people. Also I forgot to mention I loved when Strand killed all those walkers with the plane propellers.

Final rating: 8/10

Character driven episode filled with character development
Holt34424 June 2019
This episode moved the story in a much slower pace than the three other episodes, the episode had a huge focus on Daniel who is played by Ruben Blades. It was nice to see him more than a cameo and the writers did a surprising good job as of the writing for him. The whole story arc with Strand and Daniel was well executed and so was Alicia and Morgan's as that whole arc developed nicely as it was short but the good part was the large amount of important details. The acting was another highlight in this episode, mostly from Colman Domingo and Ruben Blades. The writing and dialogue was another thing that was good.

So what was bad with the episode? The character Charlie and some of the acting from some certain people, I don't like to hate but I have always thought Charlie was a good character when she was on the more evil side but everything after that have been awful and I hope they either kill her off or do some better writing for her. The actress could have done better, example is from S4. Another thing I disliked was the signs of lower budget in case of the zombie kills, it didn't look as good but the character driven episode made me look past most of the negative stuff.

Bababooe? Just lay off and leave.

Dear Bababooe, Your skills to write reviews are a delight but I guess we finally get it: You love to hate on everything and it's getting boring and annoying at the same time. If you hate the TWD universe so much, why bother to waste your time with it? Let the people who are still enjoying these shows have a good time with it and stop bothering us with your bloated, hateful reviews. Just lay off and leave. Please.

cool ep
rfgtdfgvdfg25 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
5x4 Rating: 8.6/10

Storyline: It's October 12 according to a calendar. Daniel is working with his cat, Skidmark, to lure the dead away from a store. He is aware of a rig made to shoot him when he opens a door, so he taps it and dodges the bullets, taking the keys to a car from a walker that emerges before heading out with a bunch of new supplies and Skidmark. Back at his warehouse, he puts away the rations, tears off a day from his calendar, and cooks dinner with Skidmark.

That night, Strand sends Charlie to check out Daniel's plane. She finds it and radios him, Sarah, and Wendell so Strand instructs her to open the gate. Skidmark finds Charlie and meows at her, causing Daniel to investigate. Charlie hides in Daniel's new car but Skidmark follows her as he approaches and loads up the truck with guns. Strand wants Charlie to run but she insists on staying as Daniel leaves in the truck.

The next day at the gas station, Luciana feeds Dylan and gives him a book to read. Morgan tries radioing June, John, and Dwight and then says they must be out of range as they search for Sherry. Dylan lies and tells the others about a group who created the walker barricades and where their camp is. Morgan and Alicia head out to investigate while Luciana stays behind to fix the long-range antenna with Dylan's help.

Meanwhile, Strand and Sarah are loading up the plane at Salazar's compound. He realizes some of the gages from the cockpit are missing and then sees a note that says "I already said no! Channel 8." Strand turns his walkie to the channel and radios Daniel, who assures him he's far from the warehouse, but when he gets back he'll kill him. Sarah radios Daniel next and he advises her to stay away from Strand. He then tells Charlie to show herself, which she does. "I am going to save her from you," Daniel tells Strand.

Strand tries to plan his next moves and Sarah suggests they search the warehouse for the plane parts. On the road, Charlie asks if Daniel set up the traps in the stores and he says he hasn't, so she asks why he's been disarming them. "You ask too many questions," he says, as he plays a cassette on the boombox. Charlie recognizes it and the two begin to bond.

Back at the station, Luciana begins fixing the antenna and tells Dylan the story behind The Little Prince. She then sends him inside for duct tape. However, Dylan radios for his siblings on a secret channel. They tell him Morgan and the group have been cutting down their walkers. Dylan says he didn't send them that way so it must be someone else. Suddenly, Max and Annie spot a CRM member beheading walkers down the road. They hide and Dylan asks if they're okay but is nearly caught on the radio by Luciana.

At an abandoned grocery store full of walkers, Daniel tells Charlie to wait in the car as he and Skidmark check it out. Charlie appears behind him and comes up with a distraction plan, impressing him. Afterward, he starts breaking in from the back as the walkers become interested in Skidmark. One of the walkers sets off the gun, which shatters the glass and allows the walkers to break free. Daniel, Charlie, and Skidmark rush back into the car and slowly drive away.

Back in the woods, Morgan and Alicia don't find the camp Dylan told them about so they radio Luciana. However, Dylan grabs the walkie and tells them to go to the old utility road. He explains his siblings aren't dead but they need help and that he lied about everything, angering them. Meanwhile, Max and Annie crawl out of hiding and are immediately attacked by walkers. Annie drops her gun and twists her ankle, so Max carries her away.

Meanwhile, Strand radios Daniel and begs him to bring the instruments back and he says he will, but they're bringing a herd of walkers with them. He gives him instructions about returning but Sarah says she broke their fence down to free the plane. Daniel stops the truck and tells Charlie to drive the truck back to Strand to give him the instruments while he deals with the walkers. She leaves as he leads them away.

Charlie returns to the warehouse and gives Strand the plane instruments. Suspicious, Strand radios Daniel to ask if he's putting him in danger. Daniel tells him he wants to get back at him for lying to him about Ofelia, confusing the others. Strand explains how he lied about Ofelia's whereabouts and prevented him from saying goodbye before she died. Charlie says that despite their past, they need to save Daniel.

In the woods, Morgan and Alicia save Annie and Max from walkers and offer to help. Suddenly, a dozen kids armed with assault rifles surround them. "It's not just us," Annie says.

On the road, Sarah and Wendell arrive in Al's van to help Daniel, but the machine gun lever doesn't shoot, so Daniel hides underneath. Strand and Charlie then arrive in a truck with the plane in the back. Strand leads the walkers towards him, turns on the propellers, and watches as the walkers kill themselves until the plane engines stop. Strand confronts Daniel, who tells him he won't shoot him after all.

Back in the woods, Dylan radios to Annie and tells her that Morgan and Alicia are friendly. Max convinces her to tell the group to put down their weapons and agrees to help them find Al, but states that they were telling the truth about being unable to leave. Morgan quickly realizes that the kids are the children of the people they found at Camp Cackleberry and offers his condolences.

At the warehouse, Charlie asks Daniel what he would have said to Ofelia and he says, "Every day brings a chance to start over." He admits she could use that advice and then reveals he has to leave to take care of something. Charlie asks if she can come along but he says her friends need her more. He hands her Skidmark and says they can have everything in his warehouse except for a cigar, which is for when things get better.

A while later, Strand radios Luciana to tell her about the broken plane. Dylan suggests that instead, the group repair their crashed plane like the protagonist of The Little Prince did. Luciana smiles at this.

Elsewhere, Morgan and Alicia follow Annie, Max, and the kids towards where they saw the CRM people. Morgan tells Alicia about losing his wife and son. Suddenly, a helicopter flies overhead. "Those people, they came in that," Annie explains and suggests that they are leaving as they got what they came for, while Morgan and Alicia look on stunned as the helicopter flies away.

S5.E4 - A Fun Episode [7.6/10]
panagiotis19933 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S5. E4) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 4 ''Skidmark'': Episode 3 was good and I gave it a rating of 7/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Daniel is so isolated, he only has a cat with him. The fact that we have these kids as villains is ridiculous. So they are the ones who use the walkers as barriers on the roads. I don't understand why Daniel wont just give them the plane. He is so damn subborn. Finally Daniel agrees to give them the plane. More kid ''villains'', that's ridiculous. First we had the crazy old woman and now we have these kids. This sucks, so annoying. Ok so it seems like the kids are good and at least they wont hurt Morgan and Alicia. Will the kids lead them to the actual new villain? Killing the walkers by using the plane, now that was fun. Overall this was a fun episode, my rating is 7.6/10.

Fun, zombie thrills but a slow moving season when it comes to story.
cruise0124 June 2019
Fear the Walking Dead

Episode 5.04 (3.5 out of 5 stars).

The episode follows Strand trying to convince Daniel about using his plane to help save his friends. Daniel still angry at Strand for the past. Meanwhile, Charlie tags along with Daniel as he goes out to locations that has traps set up to disable them. Who has set these traps? Alicia and Morgan are looking for a camp site which their friend may be held up at. Learning something new about the kids.

The episode is a little slow moving. It does have some thrills. Even a bloody herd of zombies being torn up by a plane scene. The episode still has yet to cover new ground by the mysterious new group of people that may be bad. But they are militarized and have a helicopter patrolling.

"Skidmark" concludes on a high note, with successful acquisition of the airplane, but not without establishing significant emotional and narrative developments
fernandoschiavi22 April 2024
Strand, Charlie, Sarah and Wendell attempt to steal Daniel Salazar's plane, but he anticipates their move and disables it. Charlie, still in Daniel's car, begins to bond with him and watches him disarm a trap set by the man who used to own the warehouse. The walkers escape the building and he sends Charlie back to the warehouse while he lures the herd away. Strand explains how he lied about Ofelia's whereabouts and prevented him from saying goodbye before she died. At Charlie's insistence, they rescue Daniel but at the cost of the plane. Daniel appears to forgive Strand and gives the group use of his warehouse while he continues his mission.

At the same time, Morgan and Alicia learn process that Max and Annie set up previous walker barriers to scare people away. After saving them after death, they learn that they are part of a larger group of kids, the children of the people who died of radiation sickness at a nearby camp. At the same time, Dylan and Luciana repair the truck stop's long-range antenna and contact Strand who informs them of the plane's fate. Dylan, inspired by Luciana, suggests that they repair their crashed plane to escape.

In the fourth episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 5, titled "Skidmark," the series takes an interesting turn by focusing on both human and animal survival instincts, offering a refreshing break from the usual human-centric narrative. The episode is named after Daniel Salazar's cat, Skidmark, who plays a surprisingly pivotal role in the unfolding events. This episode primarily centers around Daniel and his efforts to secure an airplane from a dangerous area, while Charlie secretly follows him, leading to a sequence of tense and humorous moments.

Daniel Salazar's meticulous planning to retrieve the airplane parts is jeopardized not only by the undead but also by his own psychological barriers. His interactions with Skidmark add a layer of lightness to his stern persona, revealing the softness and vulnerability beneath his hardened exterior. Meanwhile, Charlie's involvement brings her character development to the forefront, showcasing her growth from a fearful child to a proactive member of the group. Their dynamic evolves dramatically throughout the episode, encapsulating a mix of mentorship, companionship, and mutual reliance that enriches the narrative.

The episode also revisits the theme of redemption, as Daniel struggles with his past deeds and seeks to make amends, not just with his group but with himself. His cautious relationship with Strand is put to the test, adding a complex layer to their interactions. The suspenseful sequence where Daniel and the group must disarm a store rigged with traps is both thrilling and a stark reminder of the constant danger they face, which is compounded by human ingenuity in the face of zombie threats.

"Skidmark" concludes on a high note, with successful acquisition of the airplane, but not without establishing significant emotional and narrative developments. The episode successfully blends humor, danger, and character development, which keeps the audience engaged and invested in the characters' journeys. It serves as a reminder of the series' ability to balance action with character-driven storytelling. Overall, this episode is a standout for its ability to integrate lighter moments with intense survival scenarios, all while pushing forward the overarching plot of the season.

Why Daniel needs to come and go He's too smart
intrepidami24 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
He'll soon be gone until he pops up again. He's the smartest, cagiest character on either show and that's why he needs only show up in brief spurts. Why?

Because with Daniel constantly around, he'll think of plans and stuff that work. We can't have that! It's better to have him going around by himself creating impregnable places heavily stockpiled with supplies on some mystical quest.

Imagine Daniel with Alicia in that house during the storm. What are you doing? Lighting a fire to stay warm. No, no, that'll only attract more of them, let's go upstairs and cover up with blankets! With all the noise outside they'll move off. But how will we set up our big house full scenes ?

Daniel with the group at Humbugs? Turn off that piano. You're a trick shot guy, hit the gas tank on that van, blowing it up. it'll draw them all away and we'll walk out the front door.

You can bet Daniel will mysteriously show again when they need him to and watch the others screw up. They need the stupidity factor to get to the big scenes. Daniel has become the Mystical Hispanic of the Walking Dead franchise. You see what Daniel is doing, he's going around un-springing traps. The first one makes total sense. there's a lone person who went in and got shot and killed and now is a walker. The second time made 100% no sense whatsoever! The building was loaded with victims. What, did people keep wandering in and get shot? Also, the windows in these traps weren't already shot out? The writers didn't think that through, huh? They needed a large group of Walkers, so they made the building loaded (Dozens) with victims? The girl comes up with this elaborate plan that Daniel entertains instead of saying "it's too risky for what little is in there"

Suddenly a guy who killed 100's of innocent people leading a herd to them, is worried about a herd that may, or may not hurt people? And of course, the regular cast have done something to mess up his plan.

Then with amazement I watch as he chooses to lead the herd on foot, right near a factory he could probably easily lead them into and leave. Then they had brilliant strategist Daniel do something he wouldn't to set up the big scenes this episode. Being around the core group seems to dumb him down. Once the characters were away, why not just drop the player and get a much bigger head start? Or leave the player. Hop in the vehicle, go back to his place, arm up and come back and obliterate them all with help? No we need him to keep drawing them away sacrificially, so he can be dramatically rescued. Why? They need Strand to rescue him so they can make up.

But before we do that, we must have a ridiculous radio conversation instead of just going out and saving him! What are you trying to teach me Yoda?

There was one scene that stood out as even more ridiculous! They know that Morgan is coming, what do they do? Alicia replaces the board with nails on the road! Um No. No warning to Morgan or nothing? Lastly it was literally 30 seconds of REAL TIME after Morgan and Alicia saved the two kids that they find themselves SURROUNDED by a large group of armed kids not a group coming from one direction, or side. They SURROUNDED them truly laughable. Implying they were tracking them just out of sight the whole time!

I guess I should just stick to major mistakes and not point out Daniel has electric power, 8 years into a Z A? I can see people trying to rationalize the Nuclear plant still working. impossible. Rods need to be replaced, constantly. Also, you'd occasionally see lit streetlights if the power was on, huh

Poor episode written by 7 year olds for 7 year olds
MordonDancer26 June 2019
Well that's it for me. Enough is enough. Writing is garbage and the acting not far behind. When there are so many kids now added to the story then its clear who the target market is. Either that or the 'script' writers are so damned lazy that they've just dumbed it down so much that they don't care.

Shame. Used to be good a long time ago. I hope Kim Dickens got herself wrote out as she'd be ashamed to be connected with this.

Fear The Walking Soap Opera. Morgy the Savior and his Z Team. The real zombies are the writers and the viewers.
Bababooe24 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If after watching this episode, you think about all the various sequences of evens that transpired, and you believe that it is at all plausible, I will recommend that you either: 1) Stop reading immediately 2) Check yourself into a hospital for living in a fantasy world (aka removed from reality) 3) Forgetabout it. Sit back and enjoy a bunch of zombie kills, and laugh at all the low level inconsistent characters (aka lack of integrity) acting out amateur scenes spitting out dumb dialogue.

Dan is out with his cat, killing zombies, and collecting supplies.

Charlie the Backstabber is sent by Vic to spy on Dan, and gets stuck in Dan's car. After Dan drives off with Backstab in the back, Vic and the Trucker Twins, Wheelchair and his Sista, head into Dan's fort to check on the airplane, and find that the controls have been taken out, and there's an F U note from Dan to Vic. Wow.

Dan knows Backstab is in the car and they bond over some cool music. Dan, Backstab and Dan's Cat Scratchems go to clear another store full of zombies. Scratch screws up and now our minor Z-Team is followed by a herd. Dan walkies Vic saying he will bring the herd to his fort to take care of them. Vic tells him they busted the fence to take the plane out. Vic is a damn fool. Now, Dan gives the car to Backstab and decides to walk the walkers away to who knows where. Who would do this?

The Trucker Twins come to rescue Dan with Al's Swat van. Dan is stuck under the van. And the guns conveniently are not working. Just then Vic shows up with the truck and the plane in the back. Vic using the airplane's propeller blades takes care of all the zombies, in so doing he burns the engines.

They all make it back to Dan's fort. Dan prepares a meal for everyone, then decides to take off into the sunset.

This whole sequence of events is so ridiculous. The only way to buy this is to be naturally or artificially intoxicated. Have we degenerated to the level of a zombie to actually find this in any way plausible? We have the bright shiny object of zombies walking into propeller blades like it's new and exciting. It's not. The whole thing is stupid. Then Dan just walks away from it all. Just like that. Leaves his cat and his place. For what? To wander like Morgy.

Then we have the Morgy half of the Z-Team, Lucy and one of the found kids. This kid is helping Lucy, then walkies his siblings some secrets and then he hears that they're in trouble. Lucy walkies Morgy and Alyc to help the kids. What happened to the Cowboy Twins and their new best friend Dwight? Morg and Alyc help the kids only to get a bunch of other kids shoving guns into their faces. Then they're all friends. All of a sudden. Then we see a helicopter. Oh, my God. Is that the same people that took Rick away for his new movie deal? It's so intriguing. I can't wait. All the questions.

Oh, and before all that we get a sweet little talk of Alyc asking Morg about his wife and kid. Had to put that in there.

What a joke. If it wasn't for this show these actors would be out sweeping the streets. They better not saying anything about how bad the writing is, they may just get written out.

Garbage. Dan just gives the car to Backstab and walks the herd away to who knows where. Who writes this crap? Why didn't Dan just drive the herd somewhere then speed away. How stupid do the writers think the viewers are? Unless they know they are catering to a bunch of brain dead morons that will buy anything. If that's the case, then forget about a stupid tv show, we are living in the zombie apocalypse for real. Walkers need not apply. The general public will do. The writers are contributing to dumbing down our society. Thanks for nothing. I hope you realize the power you hold. It's not just about your paycheck. I'm not even necessarily asking for original but at least for plausibility.

I have finally lost the final ounce of respect I had for this show
acjd_shmacjd24 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The season premiere was incredibly average. Literally nothing of value. The second episode was a slight improvement, but still super awkward and dumb. The third episode was a new low for the show - splitting a revolver bullet off an axe being held by someone's weak, wavy, injured arm in the perfect way as to hit two walkers square in the head at once - enough said. I honestly thought it couldn't get worse. Lmaooooo

This is quite possibly the worst episode of television I've had the absolute displeasure of watching. Literally not one single aspect of this episode was even remotely passable: acting, writing, camerawork, all beyond pathetic.

1. There is no way a cat could be that well-trained, and especially not one that was found in the wild during the god damn zombie apocalypse. You would be led to believe that Daniel was a master cat-trainer before the collapse and did it every day for 45 years, but no cat was ever mentioned until we met this orange plot-moving device a couple of episodes ago. Ridiculous.

2. So Daniel wanted to tell Ofelia that every day is a new day? It's incredibly hard to censor myself because I don't know how else to convey just the absolute stupidity of that whole idea. What did Ofelia ever do or experience to be told by her father that every day is a new day? Why make that the first thing you tell your daughter after being led to believe that she's missing or dead for months? What does every day being a new day have to do with anything that was happening whatsoever during season 3? Jesus Christ, I'm screaming internally.

3. "Lol sorry I shot you in your face and lied to you about your daughter's whereabouts help me tho please lmao"

4. Charlie says to the camera "we have to help him" with the delivery of an iCarly character. You can tell that she wasn't prepared for this scene at all because she shakes her head like 83,000 times in 18 quintillion different directions before saying her line with her eye line passing the camera every single second and with less emotion than a wooden spoon.

5. Every word out of Sarah's mouth is meant to be quick and witty and haha quirky Marvel movie humour, but I can't listen to any sound she makes without retreating into myself like a raisin.

6. On a similar note, Mitchell or whatever the hell his name is (just looked it up: Wendell); what the hell purpose does he serve on this show? Frankly, what the hell purpose does anybody serve on this show? Remove this guy, Sarah, Luciana, Dwight, John, Naomilaurajunelikethemonthhahahahahahaha, the story stays exactly the same.

7. Daniel spouts off cheesy one-liners in Spanish to his cat.

8. These idiot children with the collective acting range and IQ of a rotting blueberry are the worst antagonists in fiction history as far as I'm concerned.

9. The "tense" moments that our group of mental handicaps get into are so incredibly forced and could so easily be resolved or, better yet, avoided entirely if anyone in this show had a positive IQ.

10. So either this is the last we see of Daniel, or he'll be back in the nick of time in a Deus Ex Machina to save our group from "peril" in the future, and frankly, I don't know which would make me hang myself sooner.

I know there's so many more things I had to say but thinking about this episode to such a degree has caused me to become temporarily braindead and I can no longer focus. This is the worst show ever made. See y'all next week

Worse and worse writing
Ghostcrow_Opin25 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This show is getting worse and worse, I'm starting to get mad how bad the writing is and how it get so worse every episode. I get that people like it. Kind of like people think Bethesda will release a new Elder Scrolls and it will be good or that FO 76 is a good game.

But when characters who has been in this world a long time runs around stabbing walkers in the mouth, just a couple of inches more and the teeth will scratch your hand and you have to cut it off or die.

Ruin a airplane for no reason Strand could have lured them away then run back and in to the truck. Charlie becomes friend with the guy who want to kill strand because they like the same band?! come on. The child army is just wow! This was a couple of things only this episode...

Last episode the 2x4 that Alicia is to stupid to tell Morgan who teleported over it? the episode before that Al is stupid and walks out in the middle of the night and gets abducted. Sorry, was going to keep it short but this is really pissing me of.

Why episode name SKIDMARK and I don't like this episode
eberkerbatur3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm very boring about this whole plane helping out somewhere else. Where did they come, what dangers are there a complete riddle. I did not like the subject of the new season maybe goes to a good place but for now it is very slow progressing. Each episode is a few ridiculous scenes like kids show up suddenly. Jun and John we never saw this episode so I find their scenes more interesting even now Dwight joined them.

The series changes so much in moments that we cannot see. we start a new chapter with a topic does not remain as we left
