Good series

Warning: Spoilers
This is a well-written series, and executed quite nicely, with a couple of exceptions.

The characters have an unfortunate tendency to burst into song at times, and frankly, it doesn't work. The impromptuly staged singing is distracting, the actors aren't very good singers, and ... well, it simply isn't needed. These little outbursts detract from an otherwise well-written story.

Somehow, the storyline manages to proceed without slipping into and becoming a soap opera, although it comes close at times.

We (my partner and I) do appreciate the fact that things are not dragged out needlessly, and both tragedies and triumphs move along quickly to resolution.

Very enjoyable

A well written, very enjoyable series. Although following an already seen genre of a performing school series, it is very well directed with many unexpected amusing musical and visual sweet touches. The humour of this very good director/writer is what makes this series a fun watch. His previous works are great, my favourite being the film he wrote, Loose Cannons.

Enjoyable series with wonderful cast

Warning: Spoilers
I was so impressed with the young actors who were also trained classical musicians .

The musical lives at the Verdi Conservatory were compelling as were the personal struggles of these passionate students and teachers. It was a pleasure to see such love of music among the music students and faculty.

I did take exception to the last two episodes that end the series. Spoiler alert.... The ineptness of the detective in her search for the cause of death of Teo was so frustrating to watch. It seemed as though she was relying on the opinions of the students and others, without digging into the autopsy results and finding Teo's doctor sooner. Since no one present at the scene of his death could present proof of murder, she didn't have a strong case.

The ending was predictable but it was weak.
