Season 1 is really good but season 2 sucks
Misss2531 May 2021
This drama is about a app which takes revenge when a name is written in there. Through out the drama it is used for a good reason. The characters are really sweet, cute and chemistry of them is worth watching. This drama is funny yet it is intense. The drama makes you wonder who is behind the revenge note and why he/she is helping her the whole time through this app. Suspense keeps building up and keeps you watching to find out the real person behind this.

This is really sad or what should say? It leaves us to wander around to find answers and even didn't give us a proper hint to find the person behind it.

Then, I thought, maybe it would give answers as it didn't property ended but the second season comes with another blanch of new artists. The story remains the same as well but it keeps on dragging.

I really can't tolerate the dragging more with the same story so,I dropped it. The season one is far more better and interesting. I am probably rating this 7 based on season 1.

Revenge can be sweet
Phe0nix12 October 2019
Short, sweet, and cute! BUT ending was too abrupt and left many questions unanswered

The main cast was all pretty good at acting, and Cha Eun Woo's visuals were top notch as usual - the cameo by Astro was really great as well!

The issue I had with this drama, however, was that the ending came too abruptly and a lot of issues could have been further resolved before they ended the series. It was, to say the least, unsatisfying, and I didn't even realize it had ended until I kept searching for the next episode but couldn't find one.

Overall, though, this was a really cute drama and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a short, fun series!

Better than expected

Cute and feel good with neat stories Of righting wrongs that don't irritate or get too serious. Liked the cast. Kim Myang Gi is not the most beautiful but she is a good actress. Park Solomon is her love interest. Cha Eun Woo plays himself. Funny too. The brother sister fighting is funny and How the various characters get their comeuppance. Looks like you don't need a big budget if the story is well written. Better than Love Alarm which is heavy going.

Season two is nothing like season 1
steli-os1 December 2020
This isn't really a review, but I feel I had to to give a heads up to anyone interested. Season 1 is funny. It has many comedic scenes (the 1st episode is hilarious). It has some serious moments too though. Very nice 12 episodes.

I watched only the 1st episode of season two. It didn't take me long to realise that it isn't a comedy. It's pretty much the same story as season 1, but with a serious tone. So I stopped there, because I only wanted to watch a comedy and not a dramatic series

Ring ring karma? you missed some people (review of 1 and 2)
leahcubed27 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Sweet Revenge 1 9/10 is my rating. This is a 2017/2018 South Korean coming of age drama. There are 12, 30 to 35 minute episodes. Also known as Revenge Note 1.

First I provide a synopsis then a review

Synopsis Ho Goo-hee (Kim Hyang-gi) is a petite high schooler who just wants to make it through her school years peacefully. She is nice to everyone and this causes supine to view her as a pushover. When her dad stands up to a thuggish teenage group, the Zombies, they discover their high school junior, Hang-Gi is his daughter. To get back at the old man and really because they just like being bullies, the Zombies begin harassing and harming Hang-Gi. A classmate, and the most handsome and popular boy in that year, Shin Ji-hoon (Park Solomon also known by stage name Lomon) comes to her rescue. Hang-Gi receives a message on her phone asking if she wants to exact revenge. This happened before when her boyfriend cruelly dumped her. Each time she receives a nite asking if she wants revenge, the subject receives a note indicating they are marked for revenge, revenge happens then Hang-Gi is notified revenge is complete. But who is watching her to know she, orsomeone close to he, is in a situation where revenge is in order? She suspects everyone around her. Is it her brother's friend turned idol, Cha Eun-woo (The Cha Eun-woo from Astro)? Is it her best friend Jung Deok-hee (Kim Hwan-hee) who is also very tech savvy?

Review Dont we all wish, at times, we could just call up karma? This was a sweet, well acted, fast paced coming of age romance. No huge surprises other than the mystery of the revenge note. The main character is sweet and while she is a pushover it is only to a point. I recommend this to anyone that likes coming of age and wants some quick feel good vibes.

Spoilers I starting watching this days after MoonBin of Astro died of suspected suicide. To see Astro make guest appearances was sad just knowing what happens in real life, but it was nice to see them at the same time. A couple of people in my personal circles have made that choice and every one I even hear about brings it back. So I was feeling so sad about the entire thing and heart broken for Cha Eun woo when I watched this not knowing Astro was in it. Cha Eun Woo as second guy was strange because it is hard to imagine him being second to anyone and the role he payed in this was as nice of a character as I understand he is in real life. Astro fans really should not miss this as they do make cameo appearances. Just maybe wait if seeing them will make you too sad. I really wanted to find out how revenge note came about and who is exacting the revenge, but it never reveals that part just hints at it. Her shart was so cringy for me but in American culture that would be extra level faux pas. Most Americans do not talk openly about that bodily processes not right or wrong just a cultural difference. So I had major second hand embarrassment going on with both her and her dad's digestive woes. I thought her friend was unreasonable when she found out main girl knew Cha Eun woo and didn't tell her because, as a fan girl, she should have understood why she couldn't tell. I liked how main girl stood up for people even when they hadn't always been great to her personally. It was a little much to believe there could be two incidents with alleged inappropriate behavior from teachers but was intersting to see how, in one case, it was true and, in the other it was false accusations. As you can tell for such a relatively short series it had substance.

Sweet Revenge 2

8.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2018 South Korean coming of age drama with 32, 28-36 minute episodes. Also known under the title Revenge Note 2.

First I provide a synopsis then I will review

Synopsis Like in the first series, the main character, Oh Ji-Na (Ahn Seo-Hyun) gets revenge notes. It is an all new cast but does follow a similar story line. Ji-na is a nice unassuming high school student who gets the attention of bullies when she sticks up for a friend. She first gets an invitation to download an app called Revenge Note. Then, as she is dealing with the bullies as best she can, she gets a notice asking her if she wants to provide a name to get revenge on. Once the name is provided that person gets a notice that they are target of revenge. Then negative things happen to them including them typically getting in trouble for their actions. As in the first series Ji-Na wonders and tries to figure out who is running the revenges. Two brothers move in across the hall and are frequently coming to Ji-Na's rescue. The younger brother, Seo Robin (Samuel Arrandondo Kim), is a bit of a rebel and though immediately popular with the girls in the school keeps mostly to himself with a bad boy vibe. The other brother, Seon Jaeyi (Ji Mn-Hyuk) is a model student and is kind to everyone. Both boys seem to be interested in Ji-Ana as a girlfriend.

Review

A cute coming if age romance. The revenge angle is interesting and keeps you guessing,

Spoilers* Having the love triangle be two brothers liking the same girl caused an even stronger 2nd lead syndrome. While the premise is essentially the same as the 1st one, the cast is completely different and the incidences driving the revenge are similar but still unique to this story. There is never a definitive answer on who did the revenge note app but there are strong hints that the teacher's high school computer club may have been a part of it. The doctor/brother from the 1st season, who was suspected of being behind it, is in this one too and is associated with the teacher and computer club. After Jae Yi fixes Ji Ana's phone and he sees her not Upload the app when prompted makes it seem he was aware of revenge note. But he is computer savvy and could be the next generation of that club. As others point out there are trips and pure accidents that seem more magical in nature. There is also an instance where the bully gets Ji Ana's phone and puts Ji Ana's name in as a revenge target and it says she does not meet the criteria. I appreciated that part as I wondered if it would accept anyone. Ji Na and Robin finally get together but he goes off to the United States with his family. So they have a long distance relationship. It would have been nice to see them reunite.

Good Enough
PennyReviews14 August 2020
First Season : " Sweet Revenge " season one is a web drama that brings to mind the well known Japanese Series "Death Note" in theory as an idea, but it took a different perspective on the matter. It actually was more about the rom com, with some cases that used the revenge app that the main character had on her phone. True, those cases were so so, as the romance and the youthful vibes were better and quickly shifted the focus on the couple rather than the small incidents. The revenge was satisfying though. The characters were interesting and entertaining too, and the performances were pretty good from everyone in the cast, especially considering that it was mostly consisted by young or rookie actors and actresses and some kpop idols. The side characters were pretty entertaining as well. Second Season : " Sweet Revenge Season Two " was not as good as the first season, but it was okay.

The story was pretty much the same as the one in the first season, with an app with which the main character could take revenge on those who pretty much harmed her or her family and friends. The start was really good and strong, with an intense case for revenge and a smooth love triangle. The family drama was also sweet and warm. However, the rest of the revenge cases weren't as strong and were kind of boring. The friendship and family storylines were okay, but not enough to keep everything smooth and interesting till the very ending. The love triangle got boring as well. The actual love story was, in fact, predictable and kind of tiring too. Also, as it happened in the first season, there wasn't a clear explanation as to who was behind the revenge app.

However, there were some nice moments to it. First of all, some acts of revenge were satisfying and well deserved. The performances were good too, especially from the young actors and actresses.

So, overall, six out of ten.
