Really? All The Positive Reviews
manresa3143 November 2020
This was a bad movie from top to bottom. Remember the ABC Afterschool Specials. Well, this movie was like an Afterschool Special based on the Apocalypse. Bad acting, dumb story, crappy cinematogrophy.....The special effects were the old CGI technology from the 2000s. I was like no way this movie was made in 2020. Grade D

Slow and boring
chipsdipsanddorks10 January 2021
Mother finds young kid, so they travel together while she searches for her daughter over the years. Similar story to Oliver Twist, kids run by one man. The only good thing is the cast actually ages, but the story is extremely slow moving, zero action, and poor writing. For example, they find plastic 2 liter soda bottles, open them and they fizz. The children are not bad actors and the mother is good lookin for an apocalyptic situation. Other than that, it's not the worse, but I wouldn't pay two dollars to watch it, maybe 1.99, maybe.

3 stars is flattering

Because it is bad. The story, the acting, the picture, everything really. I saw the poor reviews but gave it a try anyway, which I hope I hadn't.

The 10-9 star reviews are from fellow indie movie makers
bbshockwave16 July 2022
Just check a few of the reviewers links and you'll quickly see, these people are pumping up each other's works by adding 10 star reviews for each other. It's a "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" world for them. And I guess it worked, this utterly terrible, incredibly shoddily produced movie is now in IMDB's most recommended despite the 3.7 rating, because there are so many good reviews of it...

What this really is, is a by the numbers boring post-apocalypse movie. You have seen one of these, you have seen them all. Woman who is surprisingly well off living alone in the apocalypse - and even has a cute little dog - takes in a lone kid and helps him survive, then they face some evil warlord who is basically Fagin from Oliver Twist and enslaves children for work. Oh and all this is topped by nanobot clouds which look like the transforming effects of the KSI robots from Transformers - Age of Extinction, but done with technology from 2000. I was reminded of morphing effects I have seen on Cleopatra 2525.

The acting is incredibly bad, both the woman and the kid are wooden planks who put Neil Breen to shame. This thing should be reviewed by Red Letter Media, not recommended as high art. I give it 2 stars for being entertainingly bad.

Fine art.
ssarchery10 May 2021
Ignore the terrible acting, horrible directing and silly special effects. What made this a great film was the insanity of being intrigued by all of the above. It was art, in its purest and simplest form because it was so dreadfully produced and acted that it became a focal point of fascination. After all, The Rocky Horror Picture show is in its own way a disaster of acting and producing yet it endures as a classic.

Please go shell some eggs or do the dishes , this uninspired film is Not what you are searching for - A mash up between TWD , Mad Max, without the wheels, with Snow White and a lot of dwarfs . An A for effort but that's it .

This is the best Movie Called "feral" Warning: Spoilers
This movie really Makes me think About how I view the world through the use of Interesting charcters, a multifacted deeply layered Story, and the use of incite and four shadow wing. The setting on this movie is in a post-apocoliptic "Feral" world which is something I don't thing iv'e ever seen in a movie, especiallu old movies without colors. The cinematics and visuals of this movie is something I can really learn to Appreeshiate too because i Think its ugly and Brown on purpose be cause it reflects the situaion the Charcaters are in. I think that is a really smart weigh of showing people that the world is seriously m*ssed up (lol). Through the use of Graphics, a good script, and cool actors, David Lieban makes a name for himself in Colorado's indie film Scene.

The charactr I really liked in this movie has got to be the villain because he was intresting and deep. I also Really Also Like how he is basically forcing these Kids into doing Whatever He thinks is best for them becuase he is a bigly controling man. The boy In The Move is Really Cool, and Really (Surprisngly B*d*ss). He has Sharp witted ten danceys and I think that is honestly Really inturusting to sea in a boy so Young, Escpecially bedause he Has so MUCH chemistlry with the daughter. (*jar jar voice activtes* YOUSA MAking a BERRY BERYY LUBLY COUBLE *jar jar voice out*). The Mother was Another character in this movie,

The DANGERS of Running from a Gang of an*ry kids is a theme in This Movie, that I think alot of peop;e my age can realate to as well (Kids these days amirite?) (haha Lot Of Laughs" ) Another part Of This Mocie I really liked was the part by the Train because growing up I used to live by Train Tracks and it reminded me if that. Through the use of Graphics, a good script, and cool actors, David Lieban makes a name for himself in Colorado's indie film Scene.

A big thing I was really worried about be for seaing this movie was the technically graphics of the movie and... *drumroll pleas dundudndundudndnd* The Movie Reallly Amazed me with how cool and realist the CGI effects looked. I was Honestly T*rrifi*d at the robot bugs that the villin could control with his mind. because they could REALLLY do som d*m*ge to an in a cent child or dog or cat. If I saw those monsters in reel life I would b forced to run away and hide in an garbage can (LMFAO JKJK).

Through the use of Graphics, a good script, and cool actors, David Lieban makes a name for himself in Colorado's indie movie Scene. The Movie is all so well ritten. The themes im the movie making me thing About other people in this wourld be sides just me :)) , The humor in the movie Surprised me Too, especially the part where the bees ate the dog. David lievan carves out a name four himslef in the colorado movie indie scene by using cool charactrs cool graphic and in a cool setting that is very Unique

Suck potential, some things so good...
dlancaster-785-25723921 February 2021
Biggest problem is that the story seemed like it was written by kids. Plot holes the size of a mack truck! They could have just killed Jasper at any time, which made the entire plot of the movie an insult to the viewers, and a waste of time. If you're going to take years to make a movie and you're that dedicated, why the hell didn't you just have someone read your script and tell you where the story was going off the rails? Seriously these producers and directors had NO FRIENDS? The actors had NO OPINIONS? Camera operators didn't even speak up? It was painful watching after the half way point. Honestly, I think this site should stop anyone involved in the move from leaving reviews so that there is a more honest rating.

A different, constant and focused film
wqvpehys23 September 2020
I saw the movie "A feral world" and I really liked it. The post-apocalyptic worldview is very good. I liked the locations and the character progression.

It seems that the budget and the banalities matter more to the "wise" of cinema than other aspects. What laziness.

Good job.

Notes from the filmmaker
dliban200016 September 2020
Inspired by films like The Road, Book of Eli, and Mad Max Liban wrote a script that pays homage to the post-apocalyptic genre. Also I was inspired by Richard Linklater's film, Boyhood, we decided to embark on a similar process. We shot the film over four years, to make our coming-of-age story and show the actors age over the course of the film.

Awesome Storyline
cajunpagan24 August 2022
Well here it goes, The story was awesome. The acting wasn't great and the CGI was low. I'm sure this was a very low budget film most likely financed by the director himself.

It's based off a short he made with his son who also plays the lead. If he had 50 million and made a few tweaks to the screen play, then he'd have himself a 250 million dollar movie. The Director did well with what he had. It's also cool how this was filmed in stages and the kids aged.

In conclusion, it has potential as a big budget movie. I give this movie 7 stars for the storyline, scenery and the for hard work put into it.

Nanos or Bust
ronmcreynolds27 August 2022
It's not a bad movie but certainly not a good movie. I gave it a kindly four stars because three was accurate, but since I like the subject of nanotechnology it was more interesting to me. It was a boring, predictable movie. You'd think as an Indie movie the writer/director would be more imaginative and take some chances. You know, show Hollywood his best. However, Hollywood doesn't believe in being original or taking chances, so the guy pretending to be the writer/director isn't risking his. Wannabe future either.

The acting is flat, the plot is slow and typical. The best actor is a dog. The nonabots are interesting, but typical. Definitely not on a Michael Crichton level. The scenery is mostly free and cheap old buildings. No cgi except a few short nano scenes that a laptop and simple program can do using the background and repeating about two loops over and over.

If your not into bad movies or nano bugs chewing people skip this movie. Go watch Logan's Run online or rent it.

Not nearly as bad as the reviews would suggest.
noxaman1 October 2022
This is obviously a pretty low budget film, and some of the early CGI is rough. However that CGI is such a small part of the overall runtime, I found it easy lo look past.

The acting was really pretty great. Finding good child actors is something even major studios struggle with, and this cast somehow found half a dozen kids that all played their roles without ruining my immersion. Dialog was actually funny in a few places, which was pleasant surprise.

I liked the story overall. Interesting premise with decent pacing, ending felt a little rushed, but the resolution was satisfying.

As long as you're the sort of person that can enjoy a film with a few blemishes, you'll probably stick through the whole runtime. Check it out, its free on youtube.

6.5/10.

Enjoyed this!
JimmyTheGhost24 September 2020
David Liban, the filmmaker behind this indie movie epic, was my film school teacher and I couldn't be prouder of him for what he's created here. This is a sprawling epic, taking place over numerous years and hundreds of miles in a richly textured post apocalyptic world. As someone who makes small scale movies that take place inside of houses, I can't imagine tackling something like this with the limited resources he had available. And bravo to the cast and crew who not only did a great job as well, but stuck with the project for the years it was shooting. I really enjoyed this movie and hope others will too!

Children are the future
Stanlee1078 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film made me think of Lord of the Flies set in post Mad Max's world. It starts out with a young boy lost in his imagination that stumbled upon a lady and her dog. They bond & their blossoming adult-Child relationship gives it heart & carries the film. It is not action packed so don't want it if that want you expect or want from a film. They meet some other lost boys/children & then finally meet a man that may responsible for the disappearance of her daughter...

It is kind of the reverse lord of the flies in that the boy meets an adult from the beginning and then the kids towards the end. The director captures the authenticity of a mother and adopted son's relationship & the kids that learn to defend themselves.

The ending is bitter sweet but it leaves the viewer with some hope for the future.

Interesting storyline
kamariek-429-60192621 November 2022
Glad I didn't let some of the bad reviews and low rating deter me from watching this.

It is a low budget film but it kept my interest due to the storyline. This story wasn't something I had seen before. The characters were developed enough so you cared about them. Their actions were logical so I didn't have to roll my eyes. The special effects were nothing to get excited over, very low budget. I wasn't watching it for the special effects. There are a few gory things and themes so it may be disturbing to children.

Overall I liked it, I don't feel like my time was wasted. I probably won't watch it again but only because there is so much else to watch out there.

Really underrated
mchgothmog13 March 2021
I wasn't expecting much before watching feral world but after watching boy was I surprised in a good way the acting was decent especially by the two main actors the daughter and jasper were also good the special effects were really good and the storyline was good too also I really liked the ending

If you like the road and the walking dead then a feral world is right up your alley This movie shows that you can make a good movie with good acting and special effects on a small budget as long as you know what your doing

I really can't believe the negative reviews on here yes it's low budget if you want a overpriced overrated Hollywood blockbuster with Big actors look elsewhere but if you love end of days movies and have an open mind and are tired of the the same old movies from Hollywood than watch feral world

Highly recommended

A great indie film
contactmaz22 September 2020
Enjoyed this film and liked the strategy of the way it was filmed.

Good acting and good filming.

Maybe I would have liked more special effects (or none at all... can't decide), but overall, it was very watchable.

Liked the idea of filming over several years and watching the kids (and the adults) change over the years.

Well paced entertaining movie. Highly recommend.
katrinadevine-0754226 September 2020
Very entertaining watch. I found the whole cast to be very watchable and the real time aging adds a wonderful element. It is an intriguing plot that doesn't give too much away.

The pacing is excellent and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good story about struggle, friendship and a power hungry villan.

Wholesome and hopeful
shannonasquires23 September 2020
A hopeful glance at humanity in dark times. The usual gritty realism is there in this apocalyptic setting, but it doesn't dampen the light shining on young Liban's performance portraying the seemingly impossible feat of coming of age in a world without guardrails.

thoughtful, suspenseful, and at times heartbreaking
anstavros26 September 2020
Feral World is a gem of a movie. A thoughtful young boy making his way through a post-apocalyptic world encounters various characters along the way. Most are just trying to survive, but some are pure evil. The Road meets Lord of the Flies meets Boyhood. Beautiful scenery, cool locations (are they real or staged?), loads of young talent I expect to see more of on the big screen. Outstanding effects too, though some scenes are not for the faint of heart.
