Outstanding

One of the best Bengali movies of 2019. Did not let down to it's first film as it kept it's simplicity along with exquisite filming and the essence of bangaliana in it.

Just Decent, That's it.
SoumikBanerjee199616 April 2020
Well as a Bengali myself, I don't watch much Bengali movies. And trust me I feel guilty sometimes. As there are countless interesting films coming up every week here regionally. But this is not one of those. Certainly not. It's more of a Typically bengali flavoured dish presented with a Polished modern day touch.

Mystery thrillers are a trend in Bengali culture for so many decades now. There are numerous films based upon the same genre. Yet it never gets outdated nor boring. If done properly though. Here it's a mix bag. Let me elaborate.

I liked the most of its presentation a mystery, treasure hunt movie. But there are some obvious flaws too. Apparently Typical bengali movies comes with this Cliched touches in them. Usually they don't bother much all the time as it profoundly represents our culture and traditional beliefs too. Sometimes it gets too much to handle. And that's a thin line. This one crosses that line on few occasions and That did bother me. Especially with some lesser important characters.

The cinematography & the background score was the highlight of this movie. With some good chemistry working between the lead protagonists. Others have done pretty decent jobs too on their parts as well. There's a twist in the end that got me by surprise to be honest. I didn't see it coming at all. For the historical lessons, I seriously don't know much about the authenticities nor do I care much. The VFX team has surely done some impressive work on the architectural details.

It indeed delivers just fine on what it promised on the front, so not much complaints with that. But with the bigger possibility in hands of becoming a memorable addition in the genre. it's certainly a missed opportunity.

Mind blowing movie

#MarActivity #FlimReview, FlimName: DurgeshgorerGuptodhon it's a Bengali adventure thriller flim Director& writer:Dhrubo Banerjee, producer: shrikant Mohta, Released Date:24may2019 Cast&Story: Sonada(Abir), Abir(Arjun) and Jhinuk (Ishaa) visit the Debroy household during Durga Puja only to stumble upon on a treasure hunt that leads them to the fortune hidden in the family's old ancestral mansion, Durgeshgor Review: The flim is, above all, a two-hour-long lesson on Bengal's rich history and traditions. But this coin, like any other, has two sides. On one side, it's a refresher course in Bengal's history, traditional values and customs, giving it a strong documentary feel. And on the other, there's the thrill of the treasure hunt. But a bit more of that thrill in the first half would have definitely made it a better watch. It seems to take too long to pick up pace, making the first half a bit of a drag. But apart from the obvious depth of research behind the script, the film definitely earns additional brownie points for the visuals and the music, which is an integral part of the treasure hunt. It's the songs and the lyrics that keep unveiling the clues that guide Sonada and team towards the treasure hidden in Durgeshgor. The visuals have a rustic rural charm that we greatly miss amidst the humdrum of city life. Even the depiction of Durga Puja in the Debroy household has been kept to the bare necessities, highlighting only the parts which are relevant to the storyline. Had the focus been more on this aspect of the celebrations, even the second half would have been slowed down beyond repair. It's also apparent that a lot of research has gone into choosing the right locations and creating the right clues. But the visual effects-laced scene in which Arjun dives into a village pond to find a clue could have been a bit more realistic. No, there's nothing wrong with the effects. It's the duration for which Arjun aka Abir, someone who has recently learnt how to swim, holds his breath that makes it a bit unbelievable. A few seconds more and he could have beaten a rookie free diver! Moreover, he seems to be breathing normally underwater. No bubbles flow out of his mouth or nostrils, which seems a bit unnatural.Even the visibility inside the water, and that too in the evening, is a tad unrealistic.

Very nicely done

Please make more films like this. Acting wise every one was superb. Little flaws were there from logic point of views. But that's alright. The cinematography was good. Direction was also fine. 9/10 to make more films like this. With this original bengal essence in it.

Awful
shvmbanerjee10 September 2019
The Abir character was so annoying and cringe that I almost stopped myself from watching it. I am glad there's a bit of character development in the second half or it wouldn't be so tolerable. Even after all this, I truly wish they don't go ahead with this again. Such a boring and horrible screenplay.

Bad reviewers can't understand its value
nasiflabib-034689 August 2020
Many people reviewing this movie as a bad product can't simply understand the value of our culture. They only like bollywood films and I recommend them not to watch this master piece type of movies and not to review as bad. The movie was fantastic all along and can't wait for the next series to come!!

Boring all the way
mejahanasif8 September 2019
Same plot like before. You can easily guess what is going to happen next. The full movie is full of useless rhymes like the previous one like it's a rhyme competition. This is not how you make a thriller movie.

What was Koushik Sen conspiring with Lama?
nendu36722 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Plot holes can never make a movie enjoyable. If Kharaj is the one trying to steal the treasure, what was Koushik Sen conspiring with Lama? When everyone was going to Dildighi for 'kolabou snan', we see Koushik Sen in a jogging suit, asking Lama to keep an eye on Sona-da.. And wants to do something before they knows it. Since he isn't plotting to steal the treasure, what was all that about?
