Too many loose ends...

Why did Deneen kill Cecil? How did Cecil know the Russian scientist? Why would the Russian (laying low for years) have taken the job? Surely he would have had better offers before this? Why would the Russian gov't let the scientist live all this time if they actually knew where he was all along? All in all, the plot while usually contrived, just pushed it too far

The silly Anti-Russian propaganda; you lost two stars for that idiocy. I expected better from Elementary, anybody with an ounce of sense knows that the alleged Salisbury incident(s) were outright lies and pithetically transparent ones at that. Not wholey unexpected considering how incompetant, and allegedly corrupt, Western security services are.

Perplexing to say the least

I've watched Elementary from the beginning and always enjoyed it. I've always enjoyed the plots as well. My two griefs used to be that, sometimes (or most times) I couldn't understand what Jonny Lee Miller was saying, but then I started watching with subtitles, so that solved that problem.

The other grief was that I found them allowing Joan (Watson) to solve some of the crimes, and I tune in to see Sherlock solve the crimes, so that didn't sit well with me.

But this season seems to have gone off the deep end. I'm not going to pinpoint any particular episode, but I've found that the last couple of episodes have had some considerable twists and turns that have been very confusing that makes you want to re-watch the episodes to try to better understand them. The one with Odin was in particular perplexing.

I had looked forward to the final season with anticipation and yet sorrow, but now I feel like it's time to put this to bed, so I don't think I will be sad when it finishes. It did a good run and I'm thankful for it. I loved the previous seasons except this one but enjoyed the overall show all the same.
