The Danish drama Secrets We Keep follows a wealthy family as they deal with the fallout from a missing persons case involving their obscenely rich neighbors. Viaplay Content Distribution has launched its Viaplay channel as an add-on subscription to Prime Video via Prime Video Channels in Germany. Prime Video Channel subscribers can access Viaplay’s offering of Scandinavian and European series and films starting today, Oct. 22.

Viaplay’s German offering includes high-quality and impactful Nordic series and films, including award-winning Nordic noir dramas such as “End of Summer,” “Face to Face,” “The Bridge,” “Gåsmamman,” “Furia,” “Trom,” “Stockholm Requiem,” “The Sandhamn Murders,” “Unit One,” “The Team,” “Wallander,” and “Darkness: Those Who Kill.” The platform will also host three films from the Millennium/The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo franchise.

Other titles included at launch are the YA series “Threesome” and “Delete Me”; dramas “Seaside Hotel,” “Love Me,” “Pörni Seasons,” “The Beach Hotel” and “Lyckoviken”; and documentaries “The Prize of Silence,” “Operation Cannabis” and “Wozniacki & Lee.”

The upcoming Netflix film A Beautiful Life attempts to evoke the same feeling through the inclusion of beautiful songs from Danish singer Christopher.

A Beautiful Life is an upcoming Danish musical drama written by Stefan Jaworski and directed by Mehdi Avaz. The film, which has a runtime of 98 minutes, addresses the challenges of a music artist while also emphasizing the value of love in one's life, as seen in the teaser.

Dr Sales Catches ‘Get a Life’ Youth Series from ‘The Bridge’ Producer Nimbus Film

Copenhagen-based Dr Sales has boarded the thought-provoking youth series “Get a Life” (“Stadig ikke død”) produced by one of Denmark’s longest running shingles, Nimbus Film, credited for the cult series “The Bridge” and last year’s biggest Danish movie hit “A Lucky Man”.

The seven-part YA series, helmed by Daniel Kragh Jacobsen (“The Summerdahl Murders”) premiered on the Danish pubcaster’s streamer Dr TV Jan. 20.

The life-affirming “Get a Life” was created by up-and-coming French-Danish scribe Emma le Marc who developed it as part of the Series Mania-ugc Writing Campus. Toplining the show are rising talents Danish Alvilda Lyneborg Lassen (“Darkness Those Who Kill”), Albert Rosin Harson (“Pulse”) and Malaika Berenth Mosendane.

Studiocanal Boards Thomas Vinterberg’s TV Debut ‘Families Like Ours’

Studiocanal has boarded Thomas Vinterberg’s TV debut ‘Families Like Ours’ as a co-producer and distributor.

Varety first broke the news last April that Oscar-winning Danish director Vinterberg (“Another Round”) was re-teaming with Danish production outfit Zentropa on his first television drama.

Studiocanal previously distributed “Another Round” in the U.K.

“I have worked with Studiocanal in the past and greatly enjoyed the process,” said Vinterberg. “They are a great collaborator and I look forward to proceeding on this journey together with Studiocanal and Canal Plus as our esteemed partners.”

Producers Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing added: “We are delighted to be teaming forces with Studiocanal and Canal Plus on ‘Families Like Ours’ – the first TV-series by Thomas Vinterberg. Miso Film Pushes Creative Boundaries With HBO Max’s ‘Lust,’ Netflix’s ‘A Marriage,’ ‘Your Land’ (Exclusive)

Nordic production powerhouse Miso Film, which looks to make a splash at the Berlinale Series with its daring HBO Max show “Lust,” is developing high-end international dramas with Scandinavian creatives such as Pilou Asbæk (“Borgen”), Ole Bornedal (“Nightwatch”) and Fenar Ahmad (“Darkland”). The company is part of Fremantle.

Ahead of the Berlinale, Miso founders Peter Bose and Jonas Allen discussed with Variety their ambition to find new voices and original ways to tell stories.

The banner, which just started shooting the third season of “Those Who Kill” and is about to begin filming Season 3 of “Face to Face” with Lars Mikkelsen, recently shot Norwegian sci-fi comedy “Blasted,” for Netflix. “Streamers have opened up new possibilities for genre,” said Allen.

Oscar-Winning Director Bille August on ‘The Kiss,’ His Craft, the Streamers

Oscar and double Palme d’Or winning director Bille August is attending the Göteborg Film Festival for a Director’s Talk and the gala screening of his psycho-drama “The Pact”.

He will also pitch at the adjoining Nordic Film Market (Feb. 3-6), the work in progress of his upcoming Danish pic “The Kiss”.

August spoke exclusively to Variety about “The Kiss,” his enduring interest in the complexity of human beings, book-to-screen adaptations and his belief in the big screen experience.

Loosely based on Stefan Zweig’s novel “Beware of Pity and transposed from an Austrian to a Danish setting, “The Kiss” is a romantic drama set in 1913. The helmer has reunited with “A Fortunate Man”’s lead Espen Smed, cast as cavalry officer trainee Anton. Introduced to Baron von Løvenskjold’s daughter Edith, a wheelchair user following an accident, Anton is attracted to her, but unsure if his feelings are of pity or true love.
