Could have done better

I don't usually fall sleep watching films, but today I did.

I went to Sitges Film Festival and really had high spectations before watching the movie. And meeting the director only made them higher, Jessica Woodsworth is an amazing woman.

The photography is really amazing, the black and white gives it a great essence, the scenarios are wonderful and everything really atracts you at first. The acting thought out all the movie was really good, they made a great choice.

Now here's my problem. A main character who wants to fight an invisible (non existent) enemy, and who fails on it and also fails on the disciplines he's been input is a great theme and really interesting. But, the development of it it's just awful. The whole film feels like nothing is actuallu happening, like if you were wating for the great thing to come, and never does. Maybe a little bit less of effort on the visuals and a bit more of it in the plot would have made the film one of my all time favorites.

In conclusion, the film is too much abstract.

PS: I'm not the only one who thought this, everyone who exited the cinema was talking about the same thing.

Reduce to three minutes, add music and you have an acceptable video clip A boring one.

Who called this SF? Somebody thought; its not comedy, not a thriller or about war, not a cop movie, no action in sight, and I don't understand it? Its an insult to the thousands of magnificent SF books waiting to be made into movies. What are they waiting for? Refuse to make a few good-for-nothing disasters such as this and you're good to go.

How can some incompetent director make (very weak) fun of soldiers at a time where they are dying in legions? Yes you are supposed to follow orders, thats because an attack is not the right time to argue the hierarchy, that exists in every company. And these orders aren't; shoot your colleague because he is approaching from the wrong side. Or grin like you're insane? She has soldiers in the family she said, but I don't think they'll invite her for the next gathering. Who let an anarchist make a film?

I thought, if the movie is no good, then mount Etna will provide. It shouldn't surprice me, but even one of the highlights of nature, an active vulcano, gets cancelled to a few gravel piles. And no, its not a musical either. That would have been a vast improvement since the actors like to jump around and behave silly. And why do people hate music so much that they prefer its absense? Because it looks like the void in their skull?

Even to catch up on the hours of sleep you missed this film is no good. Just when you drift off they start target practice. Nasty.
