Santa’s dancing his way into our hearts a little early this year. And who’s that driving his sleigh? Why, it’s Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray, stars of The Merry Gentlemen, a new rom-com heating things up this holiday season. You’ll be able to unwrap this particular gift on Nov. 20 –– as the trailer reveals, this sizzling Christmas entertainment is worth waiting for.
Directed by Peter Sullivan (Secret Obsession) and written by Marla Sokoloff (Sweet on You), The Merry Gentlemen is the story of a steamy musical revue that just might save Christmas. “We got to change things up a little bit and push the envelope,” Murray, who portrays romantic lead Luke, tells Tudum. “We take a lot of the tropes that have been created for this particular genre and poke fun at them in such a tasteful way.”

Brenda Song may have made a name for herself on the Disney Channel in the early 2000s. But the actress has since moved on from her role as London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. However, as is common with child stars, transitioning into adult roles proved to be rather challenging. The 36-year-old’s re-entry into Hollywood came at a surprising juncture in her life, with the influence of an unexpected individual playing a crucial role—Gia Coppola.

For the horror heads among us, perusing a streamer's genre page can be a goldmine of camp opportunities or disturbing folk horror to keep us up at night, but it can also be home to some of the most tedious stories put to film. Whether it's an ill-advised continuation of a franchise or an adaptation in the wrong hands, even the mighty Netflix isn't immune to acquiring, producing, and/or distributing some stinkers. In fact, they tend to excel at it.
While Rotten Tomatoes isn't the be-all and end-all of movie criticism (and it almost seems to be trying to discredit it more and more), it can provide a quick temperature check to a movie's well being -- a helpful measure for all of us when considering how we want to spend our time rotting away on the couch. Mileage can vary on how much to trust the aggregated rating of a bunch of critics,...

There are two types of horror movie enthusiasts: those who are looking for something genuinely scary and live for the adrenaline rush of watching it, and those who are constantly looking for something so unbelievably creepy that it makes the movie oddly entertaining but not scary at all. Luckily, both groups can find what they are looking for on Netflix.
Here's the list of 5 horror movies that will make you leave the lights on when you go to sleep, and 5 that can only be hated, all rated and ranked by their scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Just pick the one that suits your interests.
Best: Gerald's Game (2017) - 91%

Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver are all joining the show alongside previously announced series lead Kate Hudson. The untitled series received a 10-episode order at Netflix in June 2021.
The official logline states, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

Quiver Distribution is premiering a new trailer aimed squarely at action fans this Monday. The Bandit trailer presents a film about seemingly ordinary men up to no good. Based on the remarkable true story of the Flying Bandit, the film stars Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, and Mel Gibson. Allan Ungar directs from a script written by Kraig Wenman.
The Bandit trailer teases the story of Gilbert Galvan Jr. (Josh Duhamel), a charismatic career criminal who uses more disguises than Hitman’s Agent 47 to rob banks in broad daylight. As Gilbert tumbles deeper down a robbery-driven rabbit hole, he discovers that his obsession will lead to his life falling into chaos if he doesn’t walk away while the getting is good.
Here’s the official logline for Bandit:

Hostage House sees an ambitious realtor, who’s showing a palatial-looking home in her neighbourhood, get caught up, along with her daughter, in a hostage situation during an open house…
Who doesn’t love a good Die Hard-esque home invasion movie? Homeowners versus thieves in a battle of wits… Or maybe an adult version of Home Alone, with traps taking out crooks? Yeah Hostage House is neither of those things; no matter how much I wanted it to be. I does feature its protagonists eventually taking on the thieves but the bulk of the film plays more on the tension between captives and captors – only finally moving into anything resembling your typical home invasion movie in the final third of the film.

We all deal with being in lockdown in different ways. Some of us by learning a musical instrument, some by writing a novel, and some by binging the nearly infinite library of new and old TV shows available on streaming services. Others, meanwhile, watch and rave about a horny and sinister thriller to have hit Netflix a few days ago.
Fatal Affair revolves around Ellie, a successful attorney who begins working with David, an old friend from college. After a few catch-up drinks, they almost hook up in a nightclub bathroom until Ellie stops things and goes back to her husband Marcus and attempts to rekindle their marriage after the two of them began to grow distant. Unfortunately, David begins stalking her and attempts to ingratiate himself into her life in increasingly demanding ways, the scenes becoming more ominous and controlling as the movie progresses and his questionable past is revealed.

An uninspired Fatal Attraction knock-off wastes a charismatic Nia Long on a script with zero surprises or tension
From the company that gave us Secret Obsession and Dangerous Lies comes another Lifetime movie-level “thriller” that pairs two picked-out-of-a-hat genre buzzwords together and comes up with something we’ve seen many, many times before. The surprising success of the aforementioned Netflix originals has caused the streamer to frantically assemble more of the same: low-budget, low-risk TV movies that place vaguely recognisable actors in familiar situations. With Fatal Affair, it’s the 90s stars Nia Long and Omar Epps replaying the endlessly regurgitated Fatal Attraction formula with absolutely nothing new brought to the table.

"I'm not giving up on us, Ellie." Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for an intense romantic thriller titled Fatal Affair, the latest film from filmmaker Peter Sullivan. The vague plot synopsis for this film sets up the story: Ellie tries to mend her marriage with her husband Marcus after a brief encounter with an old friend, David, only to discover that David is more dangerous and unstable than she'd realized. Nia Long stars, with Omar Epps and Stephen Bishop, and a cast including Aubrey Cleland, Maya Stojan, Kj Smith, and Jason-Shane Scott. This is yet another of these cliche, turns out that nice guy you hooked up with is really a killer, films. Epps looks like he ain't messing around. A ridiculously titled film about a couple who stumble upon a stash of money is absurd and cliched but mostly entertaining
One of the most surprising reveals of last October’s unprecedented Netflix data dump was the astounding popularity of cheap psycho-thriller Secret Obsession. While the streamer proudly touted new films from Alfonso Cuarón, Paul Greengrass and the Coens in the same period, it was a no-star, dim-plotted slab of schlock that netted more viewers, with an estimated 40m households eager to find out just how secret that obsession really was. Modelled after a Lifetime TV movie (with a Lifetime TV director at the helm), it was an important victory for Netflix because it revealed a substantial audience for tiny-budgeted thrillers with generic titles, a bracket they could easily fill at little expense.

Netflix have put out their annual lists of the most popular content on their streaming platform, marking what’s been another bumper year of material for the company. Split into the most popular general releases and various other categories, the names on the Us lists are fairly predictable, including Stranger Things, The Witcher and The Irishman, but also contain some surprisingly popular hits such as the Adam Sandler vehicle Murder Mystery.
The ratings are believed to be based on a Netflix metric using the number of individual accounts that have watched at least two minutes of their content in its first 28 days of release. For the breakdown of most popular content across all categories, Sandler’s popularity on the streamer is borne out by Murder Mystery topping the list, followed by the third season of Stranger Things, Ryan Reynolds’ 6 Underground, The Incredibles 2 and The Irishman.

Netflix has revealed a series of top 10 lists highlighting the streaming platform’s most-viewed films and television series of 2019 in the United States. Overall, the most popular release across any format was the comedy “Murder Mystery,” starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The most popular television series was the third season of “Stranger Things,” and the most-viewed nonfiction release of the year was the self-care series “Tidying Up With Marie Kondo.”
In the case of these lists, most “popular” is defined by anything actually released in 2019, and what was most viewed within 28 days of its initial launch on Netflix. The streamer also defines a viewer here as anyone who watched at least two minutes of these programs.

Netflix got in the end-of-year spirit Monday by sharing its own set of Top 10 lists for 2019, including its most popular titles that launched in the U.S. over the last 365 days, which is lead by the Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler comedy “Murder Mystery” and the third season of “Stranger Things.”
According to Netflix, its “most popular” domestic releases for the year are, in order, “Murder Mystery,” “Stranger Things 3,” “6 Underground,” “The Incredibles 2”, “The Irishman,” “The Witcher,” “Triple Frontier,” “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” “The Umbrella Academy” and “The Highwaymen.”
No viewership data was included with the list — which shouldn’t come as a complete shock, seeing as Netflix is famously selective about releasing numbers — but an individual with knowledge of the streaming service’s methodology tells TheWrap that the titles were ranked by the number of U.S. accounts that chose to watch at least two minutes of a series,...

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s “Murder Mystery,” Beyonce’s historic “Homecoming,” Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” and Disney’s “The Incredibles 2” rank among the most popular Netflix movies of 2019, the notoriously ratings-averse streamer announced Monday.
Netflix has released a master list of its most-favored content in the United States, as well as individual rankings of films, original series, unscripted shows and comedy specials.
Following “Murder Mystery” as the year’s most popular film were titles including Michael Bay’s critically panned “6 Underground,” Pixar’s “The Incredibles 2,” Ben Affleck’s “Triple Frontier,” and Sony Animation’s Oscar winner “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Viewership numbers were not disclosed, though in June the streamer tweeted that “Murder Mystery” had Netflix’s biggest opening weekend ever, with over 30 million accounts watching the whodunit around the world. A sequel is currently in development.

If Brenda Song wasn't on your radar before Secret Obsession debuted on Netflix, then we really need to talk. Ever since she stepped on the scene in 2002's Get a Clue (alongside fellow Disney queen Lindsay Lohan), she's had our hearts with her killer '00s fashion sense and iconic Disney Channel roles. She may be starring alongside Kat Dennings and Shay Mitchell as Madison Maxwell in Hulu's Dollface now, but we'll always remember her as Wendy Wu, London Tipton, and the best Pass the Plate host of all time. Let's take a walk down memory lane and revisit Brenda's early-'00s It girl days, shall we?

While fans may know Brenda Song best for her role as hotel heiress London Tipton on Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, the Dollface actress recently admitted that her time as pop culture's original crazy rich Asian was part of the reason she missed out on joining the 2018 film adaptation of the Crazy Rich Asians book series.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, the 31-year-old actress revealed that she had been denied an opportunity to join the production because of her "image." A fan of the original books, Song, who is half Thai and half Hmong, explained that she sent her managers to arrange an audition or meeting for a possible part in the film. But when her managers returned, they relayed the message that she wasn't right for a role.

Hulu's Dollface proves that the most important relationships in a woman's life are the ones between her and her best girlfriends. The new series, which hit the streaming service on Nov. 15, centers around a young woman named Jules (Kat Dennings) who recently broke up with her longtime boyfriend. But the true love story isn't between Jules and some dude - it's about how she's able to repair her relationship with her former best friends in the process.
Starring as one of those former best friends, Madison, is actress Brenda Song. The 31-year-old first rose to fame with her roles on the Disney Channel in the early 2000s, but is probably best-known for her role as the bubbly heiress London Tipton on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Most recently, Song has appeared on Scandal, New Girl, Dads, as well as in movies like The Social Network and the Netflix thriller Secret Obsession.

Actress Brenda Song is a Disney Channel icon. How can we forget her role as London Tipton on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody franchise and seeing her kick butt on Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior. She soon graduated from the Disney Channel universe and starred in more mature projects such as the feature The Social Network and appeared in TV series including Scandal, Station 19, New Girl, Dads and Robot Chicken. Most recently, she was seen in the Netflix thriller Secret Obsession and stars in the upcoming Hulu comedy Dollface. She also rekindled her relationship with Disney and connected with her Thai roots in the animated series Amphibia.
Being half Thai and half Hmong, Song grew up in Hollywood as an actress during a time when diversity, inclusion and representation were not at the forefront as it was today.

Streaming services may be offering more movies than ever, but that doesn’t necessarily mean audiences will to go to theaters less often.
Netflix, for example, is offering its subscribers plenty of reasons to stay home for their cinema viewing, from new original movies like “The Irishman” and “Marriage Story” that will soon move from limited theatrical runs to the internet, to titles including “Murder Mystery” and “Secret Obsession,” that bypass theaters and still reach tens of millions of consumers.
But exclusive data from entertainment and media research firm Screen Engine/Asi’s Global Entertainment Tech Tracker (Gett) suggests that movie theaters tend to be frequented more by those who watch a lot of films on streaming services rather than those who watch fewer or none at all on them.

The number surpasses any of the shows with similar earnings in the past, breaking The Umbrella Academy's record of 45 million views over four weeks.
Netflix's originals have been breaking records all over the place, with features like Brenda Song's thriller Secret Obsession racking up 40 million views in 28 days, as well as the Jennifer Aniston- and Adam Sandler-led Murder Mystery being seen by over 30 million subscribers in its first three days. Stranger Things' record high is no surprise since Netflix reported that 40.7 million accounts had already viewed the show in less than a week after the season three premiere,...

Netflix has disclosed its viewership figures for original films and television shows released over the past year.
The streaming juggernaut, which reportedly has more than 158 million subscribers worldwide, released its viewership data from October 2018 to September 2019 to shareholders on Wednesday, and the report was obtained by The New York Times and Deadline.
By Netflix’s data, a single viewership qualifies as someone having watched at least 70 percent of a movie or episode.
With 80 million views, Bird Box easily took the no. 1 spot for Netflix’s programming. The film, starring Sandra Bullock, was released in December to huge numbers from the start.

The Upside Down delivered upside for Netflix in the third quarter: “Stranger Things” season 3 was the most-watched season of the series to date, according to the streamer.
In the first four weeks of release, “Stranger Things” season 3 was watched by 64 million member households, Netflix said in the Q3 letter to shareholders. The company previously boasted that 40.7 million accounts watched the show in the first four days of its July 4 debut, marking its biggest-ever audience for a movie or TV series in a four-day window.
What’s important to note: The data isn’t independently verifiable. Moreover, Netflix records a “view” of a series if a member account watches just one episode to at least 70% completion.
Still, according to measurement and ratings firm Nielsen, “Stranger Things 3” is the most-watched Netflix original it has analyzed over past two years — at least, over the initial four days of release. From July 4th to 7th,...

As a thriller junkie, as soon as I saw the title Secret Obsession show up in my Netflix queue on a particularly rainy evening prime for such a film, I instantly knew I had my plans for the night locked in. After doing a quick Google search - and my run-of-the-mill IMDb scan - I downed a large amount of Cbd oil, pressed play, and settled in. Starring Brenda Song, whom Disney kids might recognize from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, the movie's description immediately made me think of Enough. (Remember that 2002 flick where Jennifer Lopez has to take her abusive ex-husband head-on? A classic!) In hindsight, I was not that far off.
Despite having a tremendously unrealistic storyline - which involves a woman breaking out of a bedroom several times with a bobby pin - this movie is pure gold. Is the plot predictable? Sure. Are there some cringey acting moments?...

Netflix's new thriller Secret Obsession has become one of the social media hits of the Summer. It's a creepy stalker thriller with plenty of twists and turns to talk about. With all the buzz it's gotten, fans want to know: will there be a Secret Obsession sequel?
Right now, as with most viral Netflix faves, there's no word either way as to whether or not there could be a sequel. Theoretically, the ending of the movie does leave enough plot threads dangling - or easily unraveled - that a sequel could make sense within the same universe. After all, the movie ends after the major twists are revealed and the villain defeated, but we never see the survivors picking up the pieces; that's a compelling story in and of itself.
Star Brenda Song also has some thoughts on the possibility of a sequel (or just more movies in the...
