U.S. Girls Announces New Album Scratch It, Shares 12-Minute Song “Bookends”: Stream
Image
U.S. Girls, the project of Toronto artist Meg Remy, is back with a new album, Scratch It, out June 20th via 4Ad. In addition to revealing a handful of new North American tour dates, Remy has also shared the project’s first single, “Bookends,” a sprawling ballad written as a tribute to the late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale.

Scratch It serves as the first U.S. Girls album since 2023’s Bless This Mess. She crafted the LP in Nashville with a brand new band, who will also join Remy on the road for U.S. Girls’ forthcoming North American tour. Remy recorded the new album with her band “live off the floor” with few overdubs, giving Scratch It a direct, intimate feel with notes of country, gospel, garage rock, soul, disco, folk, and more.

U.S. Girls’ 2025 tour in support of Scratch It kicks off with a Nashville show on May 14th,...

Oscar Nuñez Reveals How Close We Are to Seeing ‘The Office’ Spin-Off
Image
It's a little hard to believe that The Office spin-off is actually happening, especially because rumors of it have been going around for years. This time, however, the new series is giving all the signs that it has taken off by announcing main cast members and its basic premise. This week, however, The Office alumnus Oscar Nuñez provided an important update on The Paper, and it looks like the show is a lot closer to coming to our screens than we imagined.

The information was revealed during a participation on the Today show. Nuñez was invited along with several original cast members, including Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Angela Kinsey (Angela), Creed Bratton (Creed), Kate Flannery (Meredith), Leslie David Baker (Stanley), and Ellie Kemper (Erin). The group was celebrating the series' 20th anniversary, and during the group interview Nuñez revealed that episodes are in the editing process, which might indicate that a trailer will pop up soon.

‘Dying For Sex’ Review: Jenny Slate Nearly Outshines Michelle Williams In A Moving Tale Of Desire, Death & Love As Friendship
Image
Terminal cancer, erotic daydreams of cunnilingus and finally having an orgasm, stepping on guys’ dicks, heartbreaking notions of mortality and friendship as love all merge like sweaty, messy sex in FX’s terrific “Dying For Sex,” a limited-series much more moving and sweet than much of this sounds.

From writers/creators/showrunners Kim Rosenstock and Liz Meriwether —the latter of whom made a super exciting creative leap in 2022, moving from jovial network comedy to the more meaningful Elizabeth Holmes prestige drama, “The Dropout” for Hulu with Amanda Seyfried (still funny in moments too)—“Dying For Sex” is based on the Wondery podcast of the same name by Nikki Boyer.

‘Dying For Sex’ Trailer: Michelle Williams Stars In A Terminal Illness Mini-Series Comedy For ‘The Dropout’ Creator Liz Meriwether
Image
Having already created series like “New Girl” and sitcoms like “Single Parents” and “Bless This Mess,” writer/showrunner/producer Liz Merriwether’s position in TV comedy is well-cemented by now. But she really kicked it up a serious notch with “The Dropout,” an excellent mini-series charting the rise and fall of the disgraced biotechnology company Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes, played by Amanda Seyfried (read our review), which was showered with love at the 2022 Emmy Awards, the PGA, WGA and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Director Bryce McGuire drew inspiration from his childhood fear of swimming pools for the horror film Night Swim. Night Swim follows the Waller family as they discover their haunted swimming pool and the demonic entity lurking within. The film will have to rely on an unsettling atmosphere and creepy visuals rather than blood and gore to create terror.

Night Swim director Bryce McGuire has revealed his childhood inspiration for the upcoming horror film about a haunted pool. The movie is based on the director's 2014 short film of the same name, which depicted the same concept in a terrifying 4-minute video. Now, Blumhouse has helped turn the short into a feature film expanding on the original's premise.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, McGuire revealed an irrational fear of swimming pools as a child led to the idea for Night Swim ahead of release. The director explained that fear deepened after he first saw Jaws,...

Minx Season Two Review: The Titillating Comedy Still Rises to the Occasion
Image
How groovy is the tagline for season two of Minx: “Getting bigger, going harder.” The show delivers on that front, and then some. Between the addition of Elizabeth Perkins (The Afterparty) as a wealthy investor and several effective story arcs about sex, sexuality, power plays, feminism, and schlong tennis — you just have to watch for yourself — Minx is as creatively fertile as ever. Thanks to Starz.

The fetching series was dropped by HBO after already being picked up for a second season by the cable powerhouse, a move that star Jake Johnson recently called “f***king gross.” Thankfully, Starz scooped up the inventive 1970s comedy about an earnest feminist, Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond of Guardians of the Galaxy), who joins forces with a shady publisher, Doug (played by Johnson) to give birth to the first erotic magazine for women.

In season two, Doug, Joyce, and the entire Bottom Dollar crew...

U.S. Girls’ Meg Remy Isn’t Sure About the Future
Image
The Future Of Music Interview is a Q&a in which our favorite artists and producers share their vision of what’s next, weighing in on everything from AI to emerging scenes to the artists inspiring them the most.

Meg Remy has been imagining radical new futures in her music for more than a decade, first on noisy, arty releases like 2011’s U.S. Girls on Kraak, and later on subtly subversive pop dreams like 2018’s In a Poem Unlimited and this year’s Bless This Mess. But the artist behind U.

Minx: The Magazine Soars to Dizzying Heights in Season 2 Trailer
Lennon Parham, Ophelia Lovibond, Idara Victor, Jake Johnson, Jessica Lowe, and Oscar Montoya in Minx (2022)
Minx is thriving under Joyce's (Ophelia Lovibond) leadership, and we can't wait to see what's on tap for everyone.

Starz went public with the trailer for Minx Season 2 on Wednesday, and it shows the magazine reaching dizzying heights.

There's even a perfectly timed bit of dialogue from Jake Johnson's Doug at the beginning:

"A lot of people counted us out. But we are back and better than ever!"

Many did count the show out after HBO Max canceled Minx after one season.

We have Starz to thank for picking up Minx Season 2 because this show is a true gem, and the story deserves to be told.

It's a rarity to have such a refreshing show on the air, and thankfully, we'll have fresh episodes when Minx Season 2 debuts Friday, July 21.

The trailer promises to up the ante both on the show and for the magazine.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles,...

Ophelia Lovibond

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Minx centers around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women.
