Realistic Characters with Actual Development
rxdiantfaith9 September 2019
(Not putting a spoiler tag on this only because there's very, very minor spoilers) I just finished watching Run with the Wind, and I'm in complete awe. This show makes you feel so many emotions at once it's insane. Run with the Wind is a lot more than just running. This show's about growth, and it does an incredible job illustrating how much each character develops. By the end of the story, each character's backstory is explained, showing what motivates them to run, and what they've overcome. Even during the final few episodes, the characters continue to grow. Of course, the two main characters have a bit more backstory than the others, which is to be expected, but you really get a feel for why each character continued to run, regardless of how they didn't want to in the beginning. Along with this, they all have realistic goals. Not everyone thinks they can make it to the top, and not everyone does. Even within the epilogue, everyone is still moving forward. They know that their goal might seem unrealistic, but they continue reaching for it anyways. They constantly beat minor goal after minor goal, bringing them further and further towards their main goal. The difference with this show from others is that it lets the main team lose. It lets them learn from their mistakes, and helps them to keep pushing forward. And each character makes mistakes and learns from them- it's not just the main characters. The soundtrack is pretty calm for the most part, letting the animation itself do most of the emphasis on scenes, but there are a few tracks that definitely stand out. The CGI for some of the background runners can be a bit distracting at times, and I've seen a few others complain saying the same thing. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story, and would definitely recommend you watch it!

Run like the wind bullseye!!
Irishchatter21 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry I just had to insert a Toy Story quote there lol. Anyways I'm so mad at myself for not watching this anime during the 2018 season because honestly, I was missing out on a very good sports anime.

You gotta love Haiji, he was so motivated and thoughtful to the group based on working on their weaknesses with the involvement of running. Seriously I think we all need someone like Haiji to motivate us into doing a healthy activity for ourselves and work on our weaknesses. I was so happy for him that he got 10th even if he didn't get the winning, all it matters that he had a group of people who cares about him. As well the gash on his leg was very alarming like I honestly thought he wasn't gonna make it! However in the end he did! It honestly nearly brought a tear to my eye man!

Alright I'll shut up now talking about it too much but guys, go watch it! It's one of the decent animes out there that i haven't seen quite a while now! 8/10

you dont need to enjoy sports anime specifically to like this
kratos-1566012 January 2019
Because it is well made. you can basically say this is a sports anime, but it also contains drama and comedy in it. there are 10 characters in the story and the characters are all unique. each are in different years of college and each go to different classes, but they all live in the same apartment. the cast looked too large to me at the start, but they are memorable. i can say without a doubt that they are also lovable since we also get special episodes to emphasize with them. they feel real.

the story is pretty basic, its to win a competition. the ost is amazing. they use them at the right time and at the right places. only thing bothers me is the CGI. im not really saying its all bad, but it sometimes sticks out from the original art. still, i recommend this to everyone, like sports anime or not. its well made and deserve a 10/10

Refreshing anime with mature and dynamic characters
karismitak1 April 2019
I started watching this anime because honestly there was nothing to watch. Anime were filled with isekai, harem in the fall. It caught my attention as it was produced by Production IG(same as Haikyuu,Psycho Pass etc). Watch the 1st episode and it looked okay, there weren't any cliched character and typical friendship troupes as we see in sports anime. So, I watched episode 2 and then 3 and then I knew I loved this anime. So people dont forget the 3 episode rule, watch till episode 3 and then decide for yourself. About the anime- Beautiful aesthetics, beautiful ost and beautiful characters. Everyone was unique and they felt so real. The biggest character development would be of Kakeru(the protagonist) who was an angry and detached college newbie. He developed into a matured and calm person. Also, Haiji Kiyose(the 2nd protagonist) beautifully ties the whole cast together. He has a seemingly impossible goal( which you will learn as you watch the series) Also the rest of the cast Shindo, Musa,Yuki,Nico,King,Hana,Twins and Prince were amazing. There aren't any cliched anime tropes, so please give it a try. It is my personal favourite anime of the year. It is a visually pleasing and a heart touching story which is quite simple yet powerful.

Characters that are real, believable, and worth rooting for.
Chloe-h199410 June 2019
I was skeptical of this show because I figured I didn't want to watch a bunch of guys running when they would probably follow the typical sports anime tropes where they win after monologuing about hard work and the like. Essentially, I didn't think there would be any suspense or point to it. Interestingly, I now believe that running actually adds a lot to the anime that other sports maybe couldn't. Largely an individual, mental sport - running allows everyone to compete against themselves. If winning is your goal then you run to win, if mental fortitude is what you want you run to build that up, if you want to be fit, if you want to gain a hard work ethic, if you want to prove you can do something hard, if you want to build your resume or beat addiction or meet friends - running can do that for you. Running allows each member of the team to face their own issues while also working as a group to conquer a larger goal which really allows this show to shine. Hard work genuinely and believably pays off in this anime while the team also comes together as close friends. Also, this show is hilarious - especially the first few episodes had me laughing out load. I also appreciated how realistic each character was. They had their own unique goals and wit and charm. This anime is definitely worth your time. The animation and soundtrack are well put together - which is to be expected from the studio that brought the world Haikyuu and Psycho Pass. It's a quality, well paced plot with characters that you want to root for while they develop and change. Please give it a watch.

Beautiful Anime
senthilkjob19 October 2019
This anime left me with a special feeling when i completed the first season. The OST and visual are very nice. Netflix has done a great job by adding this title to their shows. The first three episodes are kinda different comparing to the remaining episodes as i felt like the main race started from episode 4, so please be patient till that. It's Yuki Hayashi who has composed the background scores and he's famous for his previous works with My hero academia and Haikyuu. The anime was produced by Production IG, the same company which produced Haikyuu and Psycho Pass. They're so good in creating sport animes. I'm unable to compare this anime with Haikyuu. I feel both anime has something unique which I'm unable to describe it through words.

So Good!
jasminn_tan3 July 2020
Depending on what kind of person you are, you may consider the first few episodes to be slow or you may be immediately sucked in. I was the former and I'm so glad I continued watching this because it was so worth it. I read that this is the same studio that animates Haikyuu (another favourite of mine) and the animation in this is so wonderful, but the stories are vastly different.

Run With The Wind is slower-paced which means not as action-packed as Haikyuu but it's also more emotional for having only 23 episodes. I enjoyed immensely the character development and growth of all 10 of them and the progression of their friendships. I loved the diverse characters and I really appreciate the inclusion of Musa and the way they highlighted the racism he faced as a foreigner in Japan. I honestly didn't want this to end so I cried during the last episode, but to be fair, the final few episodes were really emotional to me because I had grown rather fond of the characters.

Would recommend!
TreeFiddy5320 January 2022
If this isn't one of the most "real-life" and underrated anime, I don't know what is. There are 10 characters and there's something or the other in all of them that you can relate to. College students can def. Relate. 23 eps, ~ 20 mins each. If you run, you HAVE to watch this. Good writing, good animation and music, great character development. Would recommend.

Haikyuu goes to College - AMAZING!
Cris_Hdz3 March 2021
I started watching this anime even before Haikyuu, but the comparison comes across because this anime shows how mature Haikyuu is becoming to me with the seasons passing by, so for all of those who likes anime and are into Sports topics like this, there's nothing new to say that the drama and overcomes about the struggles to achieve something that seems to be further ahead or even impossible in the current wave of life is nothing more that a challenge to be beaten and the story grows so perfectly with every character that is not just the story of one, is the story of a team with a disposable leader, and don't misunderstand me, I'm telling this because everyone is taking his part with such maturity that even if one falls, as little as he is doing, the rest will show up to help him out and still working to surpass any difficulty that is currently in front of them.

In other words, is not just a sport anime, the spectator doesn't even has to have an inclination to sport or anime. This talks about a beautiful phase as the College is, and is related to the jobs, the family issues, the relationships and the commitments to reach the goal about any important topic in the life of any one. May be I'm exaggerating, but may be not, just watch this, is short, is amazing, the music of Yuki Hayashi doesn't have any leak or weak in his purpose. One of the best animes I watched so far.

I watched episode one and it was pretty good. The animation and overall visuals were great. It was also well written. Personally though, I wasn't very interested and I don't think I'll continue watching.

I feel motivated
akarunkumar-4861319 September 2021
This anime made me realise my old self. How I used to love running, and quit the things I love for some other failures in life. Animes shows our life. If I had watched these animes some 10 years before I wouldn't have quit. Well it's all in the past. Any way it's good anime. Go for it. It doesn't have to be a sports person to watch this kind of anime. Anybody can enjoy. Thank you.

One of my all-time favourites.
mozartbenedict26 December 2021
This anime comes under Sports/Slice of Life. But, it's mainly about the redemption of each and every character in the anime. Highly recommended if you like sports or slice of life anime.

Just go for it ....
paritkatre25 November 2022
It's not the tipical sports shonen show . This show involves the character in very realistic and mature perspective , with each character with their own unique qualities and issues .

I ran first time in 2 years just after getting motivated by this awsome motivating , grounded , series .

It's not all about running its also about the life and struggles .

Running is not all about compitition its also about overcoming your own limits surpassing them along with your team mates . Helping each other encouraging each other and the most important liking yourself .

Just one word left to say which you will surely get attached to after ending the series "Do you like running ?"

Even non-pro runners or non-runners can appreciate the humor. Just like reliving your college life, back when dreams are made and working hard is the road to achieve them.

This Anime Is Not About Running
ham-ma24229 August 2022
The series are based around running, but it's so much more than just that. I'm not a sports fan or a fan of running but I really enjoyed this anime. It has different characters with different goals and view points in life yet they all learn from being together and doing the same activity - running.

The first season (12eps) is preparation and after that it takes off into a pretty thrilling ride of how it will all pass out. The series are great in showing a lot of variation with scenery and changes in characters (not big, but still there to be admired).

There's drama, comedy, life problems and a lot of philosophical thoughts about life and how running affects each one of 10 POVs. Also cute doge is a great addition. Personally I'd love to had deeper characters and make it more dramatic, but this anime makes it seem that you're passing them all by quickly (characters) just like in running you can't sit still and observe, you just go forward and gain as much data as you're capable.

So yeah this series is pretty refreshing and very nicely paced left me unbored and interested to keep on watching. All I miss is more of depth, but it's just so swell that I don't really want to put on a sh1tty mark. It's very light and I enjoyed it very much. Though ngl there was a lot that could have been covered with the drama aspect making it a 12/10. Oh yeah and the anime is actually pretty wholesome without school-life which is very epic that we didn't get flushed filler content and just enjoy the characters and the story.

I also absolutely loved that this anime isn't about "push yourself and be the best" like most sports anime or overall like "shonen", it is actually for an audience that wants to use their brain and think things through and just enjoy themselves while doing something that they might not enjoy doing.

Given that I rarely watch sports anime, I was a bit skeptical about watching this one. And my doubts rose even more when I didn't like the first few episodes because I was not quite fond of the main protagonist kakero, he seemed annoying and arrogant at the beginning but as I continued which I'm glad I did I grew fond of him along with the other nine players. I liked this anime because instead of only focusing on the main two protagonists and throwing in the supporting characters, we got to know about the supporting characters on a deeper level almost as that of the main characters. It was also realistic as they portray the reality that even though we work hard at times it doesn't mean that we will definitely win and be at the top instead we can try next time. And even though the plot is nothing too outstanding or crazy it dives into deep topics and explains how the meaning of running may differ to different individuals.

In conclusion, nothing too crazy if you want a quick fun and cozy anime here's this one to watch.
