Perhaps the Best Scientific Documenatry Ever Made?
deepspace-5620222 March 2024
The Best Scientific Documentary Ever Made? I'd like to put this documentary up for consideration as the greatest ever. I'm an enthusiastic amateur astronomer and a NASA Solar System Ambassador (a volunteer position) so I'm fascinated by the universe, but I believe this will appeal to a large audience because of it's focus on the human characters and their commitment.

It's difficult to grasp, and this gets mentioned in the documentary, just how important a discovery this is for mankind. Detecting gravitational waves allows us to perceive our universe in a completely new way. We're not just looking at the "stuff" (matter and energy, regular and dark) in the universe anymore, we're looking at how the fabric of the universe, spacetime, is constructed.

"LIGO - Director's Cut" tells the story of the first time we've detected anything from the Universe other than "light". In some ways, that makes it like pointing the first telescope at the sky. Gravitational Waves were predicted by Einstein, but few people thought that measuring them was possible. We can now hear how spacetime "rings" after energetic events like the merger of black holes or neutron stars.

The story is told by the people that made it happen. Three of whom received the Nobel Prize in 2017. The stories are both detailed and personal. If you're a science and technology enthusiast, this is a serious opportunity to dig in and enjoy.

Informatively interesting curiosities

This movimentary is brilliant boffins at their very best.

Waves of air or light or sound create nano vibration... after ascertaining it is not an earthquake 2000 miles away, a truck driving past or boy racers doing handbrake pulls at really high speeds in the next county.

Our cast of MANY lettered, nationalities, accented, tee shirt wearing smarty panted human brains look into the cosmos quietly in case... heaven forbid it is a !?! Hoax - I mean... who/what/why ?!?

While no previous knowledge of space and it's 'capacity' is needed to watch this exciting journey, a healthy respect for the years of life these people have donated in their quest for ultimate light bulb moment that will not bring sponsorship deals, multi million dollar player contracts or publicity deals.

So glad we have the super brainy who with much determined patience and dedication gladly provide us with the answers to questions that are important to our future knowledge.

Brilliant.
