This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Moon Knight episode 4.
Hmm, we thought we had it all figured out! We thought Moon Knight had settled into its groove as a globe-trotting adventure series in the vein of Indiana Jones or The Mummy. Sure, the show certainly had more mysteries to unravel, including Marc’s connection to Layla’s father and the third personality vexing him and Steven. And we expected that the show might jump from the Cairo setting of episodes three and four, in the same way it jumped from the London of episodes one and two, but we didn’t think the next location would be a mental hospital.
Thirty-five minutes into Moon Knight episode four “The Tomb,” Arthur Harrow shoots Marc and watches him sink into a golden pool of water. When Marc awakes, he finds himself in a clean, white mental hospital. In an unbroken one-shot,...

Whoopi Goldberg and Danielle Deadwyler will star in Chinonye Chukwu’s upcoming film “Till,” about Mamie Till-Mobley’s fight for justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Louis Till.
Deadwyler will portray Mamie Till-Mobley, while Goldberg is set to play Till’s grandmother, Alma Carthan. Goldberg will also serve as a producer on the project, for MGM’s Orion Pictures, alongside Keith Beauchamp, Barbara Broccoli, Thomas K. Levine, Michael Jp Reilly and Frederick Zollo.
“We have waited a very long time to bring this historically necessary important film to people,” Goldberg said. “And as we watch the repression of American History when it comes to people of color it makes it even that more important. I couldn’t be with better people: Fred, Barbara, Chinonye, Keith, Michael and Danielle.”

Fanboy heaven or hell. Which is it? How many hours, precisely, do you want to spend with Superman and Batman and a bunch of other superfigures in a world where all humor has been banned and portentous droning music is played ceaselessly with no off-switch available? Whose superhero movies do you prefer, the heavy, ponderous ones of Zack Snyder or the untidy, playful ones of Joss Whedon? Which will it be? Judgment Day has arrived for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Whatever the verdict, the biggest victory was won by the die-hard fans. In the wake of widespread dissatisfaction with the aesthetic hodgepodge and financial shortfall of the 2017 Justice League, the customary Hollywood...

Scad Savannah Film Festival prides itself on involving the students at Savannah College of Art and Design in almost every aspect of its annual event, from welcoming talent on the red carpet to weighing in on cinematic programming. This year, while the fest, running Oct. 24-31, goes virtual in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, this tradition of inclusion remains alive and well. Just as they were in pre-covid America, Scad students are integral to the fest’s collective sense of diversity and community.
“I really appreciate the festival for consciously including content and guest speakers with diverse backgrounds,” says Elina Itugot, a junior pursuing a Bfa in film and television. “I cannot stress enough how important it is to see people like yourself represented and recognized in the industry, especially as a young filmmaker. As a 20-year-old, queer, non-binary, Filipino immigrant filmmaker with mental illness, I find it very...

Emmy recognition for female directors was a long, long time coming. The playing field is a bit more level but has a long way to go. Eght of the 20 nominees for directing in the comedy series, drama series, and movie/limited series categories are women.
The first Emmy for outstanding directing was handed out in 1955 to Franklin Schaffner for the “Studio One” live drama “Twelve Angry Men” (he won an Oscar 15 years later for helming Best Picture champ “Patton”). It wasn’t until 30 years later that a woman director was even nominated in that category. Karen Arthur made history again when she won an Emmy for the “Heat” episode of CBS’ “Cagney & Lacey.” It was the only nomination and win for this prolific TV helmer.
The flood gates didn’t exactly open after Arthur’s win. More women were nominated in this category, but it took another decade for...

Like many younger fans of the Doors, Leah Moore was intoxicated by their aura, their mystery, when she was a teen. The comics writer recalls being introduced to the band via 1987’s The Lost Boys, particularly the Jim Morrison poster the vampire teens kept in their cave. Then, in 1992, she convinced her physics teachers to take her class to visit Morrison’s grave during a class jaunt to Paris.

“The Hunt,” Universal and Blumhouse’s satirical political thriller that was marred by controversy before it even saw the light of day, is finally making its way to theaters and will be released on March 13.
The film, depicting a group of elites that hunt ordinary Americans for sport, was initially set to debut last September. But the studio suspended the marketing campaign in wake of mass shootings in Texas, Ohio and California, and ultimately pulled the movie from its slate.
Prior to “The Hunt” being shelved, President Donald Trump criticized the film on Twitter. Though he didn’t mention the movie by name, he took aim at “liberal Hollywood.” “The movie coming out is made in order to inflame and cause chaos,” he wrote on Aug. 9, a day before “The Hunt” was scrapped. “They create their own violence, and then try to blame others. This week a special Golden Globes edition of Hero Nation Index…
The four Golden Globe nominations for Joker are a nod to how far comic book cinema has come in terms of big-screen relevance and critical acclaim. But the shrug-and-snub that greeted HBO’s wildly ambitious Watchmen series (as well as Amazon’s ultra-violent The Boys) shows how little traction the cape-and-mask crowd have in the universe of respected television drama.

While we will sadly be saying good-bye to HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” we have now learned that “Westworld” will be re-opening in 2020, which definitely gives us something to look forward to next year. It is a fairly long time to wait, but we are sure that it is going to be well worth it in the end!
In an interview with Deadline, HBO’s president Casey Bloys confirmed that the series will not be back until 2020, but did not reveal any additional details about the direction of the upcoming season which is currently being filmed.

Starring Bill Hader as an assassin, who in the midst of an existential crisis, turns to acting, Barry is a tragicomic powerhouse, able to elicit laughs with zany characters like Anthony Carrigan’s NoHank and Emmy-winner Henry Winkler’s Gene Cousineau, while delivering gut-punches and unglamorous violence at a steady clip. In the second season, Barry tries to more fully integrate himself into the acting world while his past, and his own conscious, continue to haunt him.
Barry’s second, eight-episode season concluded in May, following last year’s eight-episode order. It’s safe to assume that...
