Atx TV…from the Couch! hosted a discussion with Showrunners Dan Goor (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Beth Schwartz (Sweet Tooth), Melinda Hsu Taylor (Nancy Drew), and Sera Gamble (You) about their experience with transitioning to virtual writers rooms amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
While the transition itself was not a challenge for the writers, being able to capture the same essence of a physical writers room suffered.
“It became really useful right away,” said Taylor, speaking on behalf of the new CW series, Nancy Drew, which was recently picked up for a second season. “I realized that I was actually a little more focused,” she added before admitted that the new set up “was weird.”
Goor echoed similar sentiments. “There were a lot of things we did as a group in the physical space that were really fun and felt integral to the process,” said Goor, who is currently working on season 8 of NBC’s cop comedy.

It also created a situation where the actor was making in the vicinity of $50 million-$70 million each time he donned the metal suit in numerous spinoffs and Avengers films, a run that ended in Avengers: Endgame, the highest grossing film of all time. At the same time, he headlined the billion dollar-grossing Sherlock Holmes franchise and got an Oscar nomination for 2009’s Tropic Thunder.

It was recently revealed that Sony planned on adapting many of its video game properties into films and TV series through a new division called PlayStation Productions. One of the first projects that they are reportedly working on is a series adaptation of Twisted Metal!
The news was revealed during a Sony Pictures investor relations meeting and it was shared by a user on ResetEra who said the project was brought up by Sony Pictures’ CEO and chairman Tony Vinciquerra. Several other outlets and social media accounts are also reporting the news. Sony has yet to make an official public announcement, but I hope that this is all true!
I grew up playing Twisted Metal on PlayStation. My brothers and I loved that game and got a lot of our aggression out while playing it! The game was filled with vehicular combat, lots of explosions, gunfire, heavy metal, carnage, and the sounds of roaring motors.

Exclusive: Hulu has opted not to proceed with two pilots, drama Less Than Zero and comedy Search and Destroy.
They are among six recent pilots on Hulu’s slate. Of the other four, two were just picked up to series. Woke is now wrapping filming, while Sweet Tooth is heading into production in May.
Less Than Zero, based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, hailed from Ellis, Greenleaf creator Craig Wright and Fox 21 Television Studios. Adapted by Wright and directed by Brett Morgan, Less Than Zero followed Clay (Austin Abrams), a college freshman returning home for Christmas to spend time with his ex-girlfriend and his friend who struggles with addiction.
“It was a tonally very ambitious but ultimately it didn’t feel like the elements came together,” Hulu Svp Craig Erwich told Deadline.

Hulu has picked up to series two pilots, femme fatale thriller Reprisal and Elle Fanning-fronted period drama The Great. The digital platform announced the orders at TCA.
Reprisal comes from The Handmaid’s Tale exec producer Warren Littlefield. Written by Josh Corbin (StartUp), the show is a hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.
The drama stars Abigail Spencer in the lead role alongside Rodrigo Santoro, Mena Massoud, Madison Davenport, Rhys Wakefield, David Dastmalchian, W. Earl Brown and Gilbert Owuor. The pilot was directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken (Off Season), who will exec produce the series, which is produced by A+E Studios and The Littlefield Company. Ann Johnson and Graham Littlefield serve as co-executive producers.
The series order comes after production on the pilot stalled in September as a result of Hurricane Florence.
