Saved by a few good lines near the end, and likable leads
cpotato10107 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As has been pointed out, still too cliched, but near the end, from the Metro station on, there are a few good lines.

The pair I liked best, are when the main bad, after she and Frankie have emptied their guns, pulls out a knife and asks Frankie "aw, you did not also bring a knife?", and Frankie says "no, I brought a second clip (for her gun)".

I do accept the widow making her explanation, as she did not want to be a part of her late husband's enterprise.

A possible goof - since she is not supposed to know of her husbands criminal empire, it is unlikely she knew the contents of the ledger, and she is not shown reading it before burning it. You cannot memorize what you have not read.

For me, this is something to watch now that Criminal Minds has ended its season. Yes, it is fluff, but the leads and the main supporting cast are fun to watch.

Great reunion
lor_7 March 2019
It was wonderful seeing star Foley reunited with his "Scandal" co-star Bellamy Young, and her acting here was flawless, fooling me regarding her character.

One interesting side note also of a nostalgic nature: the little motorized car used as a gimmick early in the show to sneak under a vehicle was a clever gimmick invented over 30 years ago by B-movie director Andy Sidaris for one of his cute action/sex features starring Playboy Playmates like Dona Speir and Hope Marie Carlton -a nice little homage.

Fantastic Fun

Episode 2 even better than the pilot. Team has great banter and dynamics. Criminals are pretty good too. Bellamy Young (Pres Wife-Scandal) was super choice for guest star. Yes, predictable at times. But fun predictable and a few nice twists. Nice to have a show without the ever present gore they fling at us constantly.

An improvement over the pilot, but...
Hei_Shibing7 March 2019
... the tired TV tropes still abound:

Funny black guy pivots into another stereotype, namely, the smooth talking "playa". He is also intelligent enough to have graduated from MIT, but not intelligent enough to know what a honeytrap is.

The handsome, sensitive guy ... somehow is not equipped to win over a widow, without a woman telling him what to say, word-for-word, in his earpiece. The incompetent/emasculated man trope lives on

A team of highly trained spies, and - of course - one spy explains the mission to the other spy WHILE they are on the mission. For crying out loud, find a different way to deliver exposition

When both the good guys and bad guys get to the McGuffin of the episode, the main villain - rather than take the opportunity to maintain their cover - completely blows it by doing the tired, old "explain my villainous intentions" speech

These are just a few. However, the locations were fantastic, the plot was engaging enough - although it could have been developed better without the above stereoptypes - and there is enough to make me think I will give it one last go, as I always try to watch 3 episodes before I throw in the towel

Not So Bad, Then...
asfhgwt-18 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't watch anything on the major networks these days. Let's face it -- there isn't much for an intelligent adult to watch anywhere. One reason for this is that producers and critics don't seem to care if their stories have insanely unrealistic and flat out stupid elements.

I thought I'd watch part of this over-hyped series when this episode of the idiotically named series crossed my path. I came in around the halfway mark. Not as bad as most, I thought, despite the cornball Mission Impossible style "crew" (working for the government, of course). The dialog was breezy and the characters weren't taking themselves so darn seriously, and not as absurdly earnest and noble as usual.

Then it happened. The "vault" scene. First, the vault was opened electronically with a contact-lens retinal scan. Okay, not so bad. Then the pretty love interest for our top male hero turned out to be a "baddie" and a lesbian. Hmm. Then instead of just shooting our two main heroes the "bad crew" (proven killers) just locked them in the vault. Uh oh. Then our "techie" crew members informed the pair that they only have twenty minutes of air. Ay carumba!

Instead of just finding a bank employee to open the vault, a crew member informs our male hero that -- surprise! -- the watch he gifted him with recently has explosives in it. Huh? Also, there's a water main running right up against the vault's wall. (Apparently he has instant access to all the blueprints in the world.) So our hero is instructed to stick the watch against the wall and pull the pin. (Good thing he hadn't tried to do this on his own, or he'd have been blown to bits.) Fortunately there's a heavy table in the vault to duck behind, so our hero and heroine survive the blast, and water starts pouring into the vault at a rate which rivals Niagara Falls. (Must've been some pretty powerful explosives in that watch.) NOW the trapped duo asks what the plan is, and of course, it's to flood the vault's electronics which will open its door (instead of shorting out the system and make it impossible to open it). "Either the door will open or we'll drown," states our top female hero emotionlessly. I checked out at that point.

To consider the above sequence anything but the absolute zenith of idiocy would be giving far more credit to the people responsible for it than they deserve. It is completely and utterly ridiculous. STUPID BEYOND BELIEF!

I'm out

It's cheesy, it's boring despite all the action. The European cities are a nice change of view to the standard U.S. surroundings but that doesn't help. IMO the Will Chase character gets downgraded by the new wave of making women smarter than men and the neediness to show them as bad-asses. But what bugs me most is the constant change between people being smart and stupid at the same time. The stories and the characters are unbelievable to me, so no. No more episodes for me.

Silly and predictable
nikaprovidebit8 March 2019
Jokes are supposed to be funny and sarcastically smart, but they are nothing like that. The plot is predictable and full of cliches, you know what's going to be next, so there's no intrigue. Characters...I want to care, but I don't particularly like any of them. Overal it reminded me of a light kindergarten version of Person of interest. I'll give the show another try, maybe it'll improve with next episode or two; else I'm done wasting my time. I give 5 starts for location and camera work.

Sorry Lauren, you certainly escaped The Walking Dead the right time, but this isn't the answer.
