Yes ! She's Flying HIGH
karna200700729 April 2019
A very relevant movie came very late but, when society is not ready to accept such movies it's true that it will take time to reach the audience. Movie begins with another ambitious girl whom wanted to be a pilot and stories develop on that plot. More than a usual ambitious story of a girl, it talks about attitude of people and society as whole in shaping a man or woman. It can make one bad and good at the same time like the character played by Asif Ali. You can't blame him or her for their henious act because we also have played a role in making one to behave or act like that. Just like that movie also shows how bad our relationships today are in our society when we talk a lot of Gender equality loud. One can't be sadist and seek love instead it's a mutual respect. If one doesn't like the other it's not good to go behind and irritate and make them love. And if you gain such love in a relationship it will end up like something what happened in the movie. Afterall , an applause to the Script writers and Director of the movie for making it happen. . Parvathy has proven (She has already PROVEN) that she is gem in acting coz in a such way the character of Pallavi has been portrayed. 👏🏽😍 Great actress.

Yes, of course Asif Ali is another underrated actor i would say when it comes to the roles he played in the past because he need something like this to prove his acting (doesn't mean that he must take Negative roles to prove it). Great job.

Tovino too has played his best and the other is Sidhique- whom will let your eyes wet at some point in the movie. . Nothing more to review. Anything more will let me shout out the spoiler. :D Watch it. !

Classic

I was expecting such a good movie in a regional language, but very pleasantly surprised. The editing and story were well blended. For me there was an unexpected twist that brought out a concern I know is a problem in India. The actors were all good--the heroinne, her old boyfriend, her new supporter, her father and even more. The background music was enjoyable--I have become a fan of Shakthisree Gopalan who sang one of the songs. Professional all round.

Breath of fresh air in mollywood
aiswaryapradeep242 May 2019
Uyare is an awesome movie to watch especially, the last few weeks' had a lot of masala films. Parvathy was as usual great and only she can do this role in whole of Malayalam industry . Asif Ali as the possessive obnoxious boyfriend and Tovino Thomas the fun business man were excellent in their roles. The supporting characters like Sidique, Anarkali and the cameo by Samyuktha were brilliant . This is not your regular acid attack movie , rather a movie which can create impact with the message . Way to go team Uyare . Another state award for parvathy on its way .

Deserves nothing less than 10!

Atleast got oxygen after watching too much mass-masala's from mollywood.Such films should be promoted and accepted.Warmth story of survival. Parvathy is excellent.Only a personality as her could do such an excellent role.Asif ali on other hand, did his best.Everyone will hate him after the watch which is the win of that character. On an sexist society, where female actors get attacked by superstar's goons Uyare is a must watch movie which may change the perspectives of some.

VishnuprasadKmenon7 May 2019
It's one of the best motivation movie in Malayalam ever. Casting was superb. Parvathy, tovino, Asif played a great job. Direction also superb. Some issues in art and edit, but it's going to be a best movie in 2k19.

Felt like Pallavi's father..Chest filled with Pride
jiteshkutty10 August 2019
This story will teach what is ambition, determination and grit that will never let you down even though circumstances will force you to fall. Nicely directed and beautifully acted by all. Showing the pain of a victim, sadness of a father, kindness of individuals who understand her dreams. Go for it if you want to motivate yourself.

A very good attempt.

Uyare is something that Mollywood has never tried. This is a movie which revolves around a victim (I'm not spoiling by saying what victim) and her struggles to thrive. Uyare has its low points particularly in the making. The movie clearly makes us understand that it is a low budgeted movie but they had done an extraordinary work in such a low budget. I'm not a big fan of Parvathy but she has done an extraordinary job and gave one of the best performance by a leading female actress in a long time. Asif Ali was also good in a negative role and Tovino was a sight to cherish. Overall, Uyare is a must watch Malayalam movie for its performance and excellent story.

Well written, well made
cinish3 May 2019
The integrity of the script was consistent. Sincere writing. Gimmick free, yet some nice annals from life. Very focused and uncluttered script.

Direction has been done well, quietly communicating the script.

Asif Ali has embodied his character nicely. Parvathi has done very well as well. Tovino has an easy role to play.

Background music felt very LOUD initially, and stood out incoherently from the movie. Finesse - what Gopi Sundar needs to learn from Bijibal. However, towards the end, as the climax of the movie came on, the intensity of the background music gelled well and enhanced the movie. Music was not particularly impressive. One of the songs felt off.

Malayalee audience has a pretty good percentage of non-residents and hence the flight experience would have felt very relatable. The climax is all very predictable.

Nicely made. Good watch.

Growing actors and an Expert director
prabhat-prasannan13 August 2019
You can really be assured about a well told story when you see Bobby-Sanjay as the screenwriters. After path changing Malayalam scripts like TRAFFIC, Ayalum Njanum Thammil and How Old Are You, it was a no brainer that Uyare will be exceeding expectations on that front.

For me the real revelation of this movie was the director Manu Ashokan. After watching the movie I was pleasantly very surprised to know that he is a debutant. Very very well directed.

It's really about some actors growing as performers in this movie. Parvathy has time and again proven her mettle as a young and matured actor but I saw some intense effort from Asaf Ali whom I always have a soft corner for. But the rising star for me is Tovino. I didn't like him earlier due to his choice of characters but now he is proving me wrong that it was just his way of showing that he can handle a range of roles.

Uyare is a must watch as its a story of social stigma, lost opportunities and how we wrongly perceive that certain things won't happen to us but when they do, we don't know how to handle our dreams that were once shattered.

Predictable storyline with excellent performances by ensemble cast
surajpnair10 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A film on women empowerment with a predictable storyline does not offer anything new than some excellent performances by the key characters especially Siddique & Asif Ali. This is not Parvathy's best, she played aptly.

From character's journey, I failed to connect with the inner conflict and confusions the acid victim went through, nor the frustration from the victims father when the incident happened, yes I understand the treatment to those scenes are subtle, but there had to be additional scenes to show her fathers point of view on why he is the best dad to her, for she hated her dad for those 10 days when she was mocked by her school mates except her boyfriend, then who was a stranger at boarding school.

The character's dream to fly is very much evident, but with new situations in her life there is turbulence in her dreams to make it big, but those turbulences could have been focused so that me as a viewer could have root for her to win. That is the not the case, we have a non linear storyline which makes it very predictable that how the film will end eventually and that diminishes the charm of this film.

The characters are black and white, except the protagonist who is grey and that was beautifully conveyed. The dialogues are not that impactful, the music is very dramatic, the production design could have been better especially the air traffic control setup was very bland.

Uyare - A decent film which got released at the right time. More power to Women.

Writers could've done a much better job
mashrurmukut30 November 2020
While Pallavi throwing water on Govind's face went viral, the least pallavi could do is share her side of the story and amass attention towards this unjust massive loophole in the system of law, and that would certainly generate mass empathy flow in favor of Pallavi presumably.

A movie with an apt name, will fly high for sure!!!
jblueday6 May 2019
A wonderful watch for those who love movies with no masala element. A movie that shows Mollywood talent. Parvathi was amazing, I think only she could give life to the character of Pallavi- a bold ambitious woman who don't bow down to societal pressure and hate. I haven't seen such a realistic movie in a while, it was a breath of fresh air. Asif Ali and Tovino also did true justice to their characters. I cannot not mention Siddique; he played a very supportive father, he is a brilliant actor. Overall an amazing and well made movie.

Must watch
Lot of lessons that can be learnt, excellent acting, inspiring. Male or female irrespective, Parvathy is the best actor in our industry. And wonderful thought, about getting them to be airhostesses. Revolutionary!

A classic case of performances elevating the script! [+64%]
arungeorge1311 August 2019
Five-line Review: Uyare is the kind of movie that could have turned out to be an overly sentimental potboiler had it not been for the performances from Parvathy (bold and inspiring as usual), Asif Ali (brilliant as a baddie), Tovino (suave as a sweet-talker), and Siddique (heart-warming as a dad). The script plays out like a fairy-tale: an acid-attack victim (the incident is showcased shockingly) beats the odds and decides to live life the way she wants, albeit with the support of a few people. There are a couple of scenes that stick, especially the one featuring Pallavi, her dad, and the attacker's dad, where the disclosure of her scarred face speaks volumes, without the utterance of a single word. The non-linearity in the screenplay negates the nail-biter element during the climax portions. For a debut director, Manu Ashokan certainly displays a lot of promise.

Predictable story, but commendable performances
samabc-3195222 April 2021
While the menace of Covid will hover around the human race for at least next few years, we have been dealing with many more horrifying menaces that are being planned, created and executed by none other than humans and unfortunately, there will never be any vaccine, cure or testing kit for that.. one such menace is acid attacks. In last 5-7 years there have been aroubd 1500 acid attacks in India and the chargesheets were made only for less than 1/2 of them , And less than 100 were actually charged... (Ref: India Today) You might have watched Chaapaak... this one is on the similar lines. Predictable story but commendable performances esp by Parvathi who is playing the protagonist in the movie.. the protagonist is a victim of this heinous crime but she does not play a pity card.. she is strong and determinant.. as she succeeds to earn respect from the audience .. a great watch ..

Great characterization!!
sriramthestranger9 March 2020
Happened to watch this movie in Netflix. "When dreams are shattered... " is the one-liner of this amazing movie. I particularly loved the characterization of the protagonist Pallavi and her lover. It never looked like intense hatred as shown in countless cinemas. The characters were so real that you can connect it to persons you have seen in your life. And also, the dialogues when Pallavi says '7th ranker, 200 hours of flying,... still.. can I become like her?' pointing at the air hostess. Sharp to the point and never looked cliche. One of the fantastic movies I have watched!!

Promising start falters towards end.
JPEI6416 August 2019
Good premise but that only lasts for about half an hour. The deeply disturbing incident gives rise to a lot of unnecessary melodrama and the music score is so loud and cringe worthy. Malayalam movies have a lot of scope to bring in original ideas, but the executions of most of them leaves a lot to be desired. Less said about the ridiculous ending the better. Asif performs well, but not outstanding. Parvathy lacks the confidence to carry out such a role. Tovino seems decent enough but his character is flawed. The movie tries to suck out every single tear you may have in you and at the end you end up feeling drained. The plane sequences are amateurish at best. Here's a tip to Mallu film makers - supporting cast make a huge impact to any story/movie. Having them in the background expressing the right emotions will add immensely to the scene(s). The trend for long, has always been to focus only on the stars and very little else. Btw, the plane switches from a 737 to an Airbus several times! Not funny.

Superb acting, supurb storyline
akshay-smithenl24 August 2019
The story line is very interesting. Acting is top class. Parvathy has delivered one of the best leading female actress performance. Every supporting actors has done good job. With such low budget the movie delivers great message. The story of a woman's ambition and her struggles and a strong will to lead a life she wants is portrayed perfectly. It is a must watch movie.

A tale of life !
krazzy_aldfo7 May 2019
Uyare is a brilliant take on a topic no one really want to talk about and I wonder why after watching this movie. I have never been a consistent fan of Parvathy but this movie changed it all. A big salute to the director and crew for venturing into something unexplored by Mollywood. Boasting a talented cast of actors playing key roles to the movie, Uyare is as the name tells you. Let me keep this short. Uyare is a fantastic take on an issue that's completely being avoided by the world. I would strongly recommend watching this movie if you haven't already.
